Good video on this Potensic Atom SE my friend. I too have one of these and couldn't be happier. What's WAY MORE INCREDIBLE and IMPRESSIVE than the drone itself, is Potensic's Customer Service!!!!! I bought one of this drones off Amazon several months ago (the first one...more to come) and was blown away by its capabilities for the price point. The 4K video and stability was insanely incredible for what you get in this package for the price.
Now for the bad part........Unfortunately, something went internally wrong with the first one I had during its third or fourth flight the day after I received it. What's funny about what I'm going to say here is that I just so happened to capture my reaction(s) on my home security cameras (more like an outrageous mad outburst...haha) when this little bird suddenly caromed off some tall trees in my yard and came down HARD on my asphalt driveway immediately after activating the "auto return" function. For the record, I've been a drone operator for a very long time.
I immediately knew something just wasn't right with the bird as I activated the nice "auto return" function where the drone relies on GPS to safely bring it back home at a preselected altitude. I clearly had the drone in sight, with a completely unobstructed view, as it was only about 75 feet away from me in my front yard and approx. 50' off the tarmac. Well........ she immediately went out of control, flew straight forward then sideways, all in a matter of a second or two, while I quickly tried to override the "auto return" function. It was too late and a perilous ending needless to say.
So.... I contact both Amazon and Potensic whom BOTH stepped up to the plate for me (I'm not sponsored or compensated by either company, whatsoever, just FYI). They did not hesitate to send me a brand new replacement!!!! Maybe I got lucky and the higher ups within those two companies had some compassion for me, who knows....lol? What I do know is that their customer service FAR exceeded my expectations in sending me a new Potensic Atom SE fairly quick. For these actions, I will always promote Potensic whenever I can.
And yes, this is one BAD A&& drone for the money and pretty darn tough as well (yes...... she's seen a few hard hits and still flies like new!!). Yeah.....I like pushing the limits sometimes even though I definitely wasn't doing so the day the first one crashed and burned. Believe me when I say this: You cannot go wrong with this drone, PERIOD!!!! HAPPY FLYING EVERYONE!!!! 👍
Great review. Bought my Potensic Atom SE and I love everything about it. Like you said, it's a stable flyer. Great battery life and the picture quality is second to none. Granted it doesn't have some of the same equipment as the DJI but to me I try not to fly around anything so I don't have to worry about banging into anything. Great for a beginner. I'm loving my Potensic Atom SE.
Have one short video to add to my review. Pretty much sums up the review. Atom does what Potensic claims it does. Really good portable drone.
@@DadRandom I'm trying to figure out how to save the videos to my phone. It keeps telling me my SD card is too slow but I got the fastest SD card out. I don't know what's wrong. I got to get in touch with the company and see if they can help me save my videos. Love your review.
@@DadRandom Have you connected a tablet with the connecter? That's what I love about it. I use my phone as a wifi hotspot, needed a longer cable, but so much nicer flying on the big screen.

I ordered an Atom yesterday to replace an HS710 that malfunctioned twice in eight flights. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Hope mine works as good as yours. Been watching other videos on it also. Haven't seen any complaints about it other than the lack of gimbal. For the price, I'm good with that. Just need something reliable. Thanks for the review.
When you can swing it, get a MINI 2 SE
Just saw Amazon currently has the Atom SE fly more combo marked down to $254.99 plus they're offering a $35 coupon on top of that. That is a great deal for this drone.
Even though this plane only sells for $300, his horizon is still a disaster. Go get a drone with a 3 axis gimbal like the dji mini 2 se or the fimi x8 mini v2.

What is the problem with the horizon? I don't care about the Horizon. I film fantastic videos and fantastic memory.
I paid $175 for a the drone and fly more package! I needed a cheap ‘fence hopper’ for still photography in situations where I am nervous and reluctant to send my $1200 DJI drone. If Potensic ever come out with a three axis gimbal for a drone at this price level then they could corner the market for mini drones.
Consider the mini 2 SE? It’s perfect for what you are wanting

Had mine for two weeks, so still getting around flying it. I do fly mine in Do Not Disturb model on my Pixel 6 android. The Potensic app does a pretty good job of filtering out distracting notifications but a few haptic notifications can get through. when not in DND mode. Overall I am happy with my purchase and how it works with my android.
177 dollars used with 3 batteries. Came with munched props, I replaced them, updated the firmware and followed the recommendations of the company in the site to get the most out of it.

Wow. The EIS is amazing on that thing. It flies and films very smooth video. And the video quality is really nice for what it cost. I don’t think that there’s any mini toy quad out there (without a 3-axis gimbal) that can beat it. I’ve been trying out the Ruko F11 Mini and it cannot compare to this quad. Very nice Random. 👏🏻
I’ve flown the RUKO birds. They have some good flying characteristics. Not this good. OTG cable and good AP support so far.
@@DadRandom Sweet! Yeah, the Ruko F11 Mini hasn’t been acting right with me, especially in mild winds. The GPS takes long to connect and it tends to disconnect in flight sometimes which is not cool and quite scary.
Watched the 4K vid on my 4K monitor. Video quality not bad at all -- especially for a toy drone < $300.
I got mine yesterday, fully charged the controller and battery but it would not connect. I was inside my house so do I have to be outside with GPS coverage for it to connect? TY

You get what you pay for in a specific kit. I wouldn’t buy without at least 2 batteries
Great review. Im just starting my research as to which drone is best for a beginner. I've been seeing this and the HolyStone brand. Would you recommnd this over the hs 360s or the hs 720g?. Thanks in advance.

I just bought this for $234 on Amazon. I decided on the SE instead of the Atom with the 3axis gimble because I enjoy flying more than making video although I'm sure this will do just fine for my needs.

According to what I found this drone has a wind 5 flight ability, which on the beaufort scale is 18-24 mph
In level 5 conditions, you would neither have failsafe for RTH or quality video. The sub 250 birds really have no business flying in high winds.
@@DadRandom I'd agree it would be less than ideal, however I'm simply pointing out the supposed quoted spec for the aircraft and have found the figure looked it up on the scale, obviously lower the better for tiny drones, but I was just providing a point 👍🏻
+@kevindarkstar the point was…. You should take a 250g spec drone and fly in wind velocity that could carry it away as well as your 400$ and I will not agree with that or ever tell anyone to fly with that risk. I would get out my Air 3 or Mavic 3 or not fly.
Hi, have you upgraded your Atom SE with the camera zoom in zoom out optional update 2024.
I sail and I'm looking for drone that can handle relatively strong wind, maybe 20-25 knots. What could you recommend? PS. Enjoy your shows.
Depends on if you intend on doing photography. Swellpro is waterproof option. Air 2s if you want to do actual photography.
Price + performance + features + usability = final value. I look at the 4-500 dollar sub 250 (non DJI) birds. Cost is always out of sync with it performance. The Autel Nano was my last hope. Great drone, massive price - the finish to this bird is better than the Nano. Obviously the camera of the Nano is a million times

I've got 2 Atom SE drones. Attie mode kicks in WAY too soon and WAY too close to the controller. I've lost satellite signal 75-80 feet from my line of sight from it. Granted, there was a tall tree here and the there but my Bwine F7 never lost any signal in the very same area

This drone seems to be pretty controversial. Other reviews say they can't recommend it because of the video stabilization when there's any wind. But this one looked totally fine.
The wind can have behave differently with this bird. It’s a toy grade drone that has some great benefits.
@@DadRandom being that this drone is $250 on Amazon right now with an extra battery and carrying case and the DJI Mini 2 SE is $339, would you recommend just paying the extra for the DJI?
@@cardbored_ No, I own this and DJI is owned by the Communist Gov. Google. The plus is the connector cable. You can put a Tablet in also

They have a 3-axis gimbal now. Like it or not, many of us have a constant problem with wind and would be flying that way most of the time. Can you compare it to a DJI mini2 SE? The mini 2 SE is $349.
Cfly is coming out with a 3 axis drone I want to try out first. It’s close to the price of the Potensic Atom and much like the Mini 2 SE
One feature the mini 2 SE has is the ability to take a pan shot where it takes 6 pictures and then stitches them together in the camera. Likewise, it has a 180 picture where it takes 9 pictures and stitches them together. For many of us, that's a great feature.@@DadRandom

I was under the impression that the Atom se has a level 5 wind resistance. I'll have to check again...
All sub 250 birds are limited in windy conditions, even in sport mode. The 2s battery is just really limited in what it can do.
I have this drone it is fun. I posted some footage on here.
I comparison shopped, learning and losing other drones for months. I fly in the city.
Does what I need and want. Resolution is excellent. Stop nit-picking. For about 200 dollars, this is it! You'll never remake Gone With the Wind, so Get Real.

The Potensic SE doesn't crash. Controller is perfect for me. I'll get a 3 axis model soon.
