    I have the 2023 HRV AWD LX. I absolutely love this vehicle. This LX trim is not only more affordable for me, but I am someone who no longer likes leather seats, finding the new cloth seats to be far more comfortable. And although the LX trim does not have all of the things the other trim packages offer, it still feels very luxurious, and still provides plenty of necessary features. I definitely love the ease of getting in and out of this vehicle, as it is not too high or too low. It handles and rides like a dream. And I absolutely love the look and design of this beautiful car - very pure European looking with no extra unnecessary frills. I actually can’t stop looking at it. It is a work of art.

    I test drove the HRV and owned a current generation CRV.
    The main differences:
    1. The HRV is fun to drive, despite its weak engine. The CRV is more boring to drive, despite its much stronger engine.
    2. The HRV is pretty spacious inside, with OK cargo space. The CRV is enormous on the inside in passenger space and cargo space.
    If you need a lot of space, the CRV is absolutely the better choice. If you don’t need a lot of space, HRV all the way.

      Hey would you agree the car does move slow? I keep seeing sooo many “bad reviews” on the 0-60mph taking roughly 11seconds and I plan to buy this new model and drive mostly highways. In your opinion does the car feel slow?

      @@dreadsupreme thanks for the question. I am waiting for an experienced answer with you. My only concern is the HR-V acceleration.

    • @adamesd3699
      @adamesd3699 2 года назад +9

      @@dreadsupreme The HRV is good at urban or suburban speeds. At highway speeds it feels a bit weaker. Not slow, but not fast. If you have to quickly pass a truck at 75 mph and get back into your lane before oncoming traffic, this is NOT the car for you. Other than that sort of situation, it’s fine.
      What it is is agile and pretty fun to drive. And like I said, at lower speeds, it is not weak.
      But you have to test drive it yourself, see if it works for you.

    I debated back and forth between HRV and CR-V. In fact, my dealership was getting tired of me test driving both vehicles so much in the span of a week.
    But I promised that I would go with one at the end.
    The HR-V did feel like a better drive.
    The one word to describe was SHARPER handling than the CR-V. I really loved driving the HR-V.
    But in the end I went with the CR-V EX model 3-year lease.
    The acceleration issue w HR-V worried me that I'd have trouble down the road.
    CR-V also had better mpg.
    I'm not worried abt turbo oil dilution problem LT bc I signed only 3-year lease.
    The visibility out of both vehicles is fantastic and the indoor passenger space in CR-V is INCREDIBLE !
    And this is after driving a 2018 RAV4 for almost five years.
    So far the driving experience on 2023 CR-V can only be described as "smooth as Silk".
    But yeah, the handling still can't beat the HR-V though.
    Oh well, can't win 'em all.
    My advice is if you're on the fence about both CR-V and HR-V, but you care about handling, then go w the HR-V, it still has a sporty feel about the way it drives.
    CR-V reminds me of a car made for soccer moms.

    @JasonPrice1 2 года назад +4

    My issue with the HRV is entirely on pricing. The moment you get an AWD HRV (Canadian speaking here), the pricing gets insanely close to the CRV. Additionally, the base 2WD HRV is really a massive downgrade from just getting a Civic Hatch. And at least with the Civic, you could go to the Sport hatch and get a 1.5T.
    I have had the Gen1, 3 and now 5 of the CRV and Gen7, 10 and 11 of the Civic sedan. I have to say that really, if you don't need the cargo space, the 2022 Civic Touring Sedan is by FAR the best choice as a daily driver. Power, convenience, features. Heck, it is the only one, along with the Sport Touring Hatch, that gets a FULL LCD driver console. Everything else gets that stupid Accord style one.
    For us, we will hold onto our 2020 CRV Touring for a while longer. My 19 y/o son drives my 2022 Civic more than me and loves it so I know he will be a Civic guy unless his construction life requires he gets a truck or SUV.

    I would choose the CR V Hybrid as we use our present 2002 CR V to haul grandchildren, assist with moving, general hauling and find it very versatile. Although I saw the new HR V in the Dealer’s Showroom and initially liked it I like the new CR V much more and prefer a slightly larger car. I still have concerns about the oil dilution issue in the 1.5 liter turbo.

      Oil dilution?

    • @richardmorse5307
      @richardmorse5307 Год назад +3

      @@amysmith3247 There is a history of gasoline getting into the engine oil by going past the rings on the pistons. This started in 2017 with the change to a 4 cylinder 1.5 liter engine used in the CR V. In certain cases and in cold weather it seemed to be worse. It caused the level on the dipstick to rise up to half an inch above the full mark. In combination with a CVT transmission, gasoline direct injection and a turbo charger it was called “Earth Dreams Technology “. They also had a 2.0 liter turbo engine used in other models which didn’t seem to have this problem. So they had a 1.5 liter engine giving 190 HP to a relatively large vehicle like the CR V. Honda said that it was normal and settled by giving much longer engine warranties. I wanted to buy a new CR V but didn’t like the new engine. I don’t think they have made any significant changes but I’m not a fan of turbos, GDI or CVT transmissions. Best to look it up on the internet to get the full story.

    Another good comparison Shari. When I bought my 2020 CR-V, I was also looking at the HR-V as well. But at the end, it was a no brainer because the CR-V felt more refined, had more power, more comfort, and has similar fuel economy. But I do admit, the redesigned 2023 HR-V is definitely much better than the previous generation, which felt cheap and unrefined.

      Regarding hybrids I would wait and see if there will be any issues in the future because they have not resolved petrol engine issues and hybrid will still cold start on petrol and that's where the problem is.

    I absolutely love my bronze Honda CR-V 2011 👵🏼 I’m on the look out for a new upgrade but could never quite put my finger on what car would be the best upgrade for me until now. This has confirmed the new 2023 CR-V looks like an absolute dream 🎉😍 I wonder what colours will be available as the colour choices are not usually as nice as some other makes and models and hope to be able to get the new CR-V in some really modern, sleek & unique colours.
    I’m wondering with this hybrid virsion what could you look to save in petrol a year from having a hybrid model 🤔 having a more eco friendly car definitely appeals to me if it helps our planet 🌎 🙌🎉 but can I afford to swap to such an expensive new model the cost in fuel would definitely reflect this decision. I think I need to book in a meeting at my local Honda garage to get a better idea over time how much I would save on this amazing new beast of a motor 😆
    Thanks for sharing this great review and comparison I was unsure if I wanted the HR-V vs CR-V but now my minds made up it has to be the CR-V for sure what an incredible SUV it seems you really get a lot of car for your money and Iv never been disappointed in my old girl she has served me so well so I’m sure her new counterpart will serve me even prouder 😅😊👌🏼✔️🥂

    Asian CRV up to 2022 uses a turbodiesel, the naturally aspirated 2.0 liter and the 2.4 liter but not the 1.5 liter turbo. The new Asian HRV has a natural aspirated 1.5 liter and the 1.5 liter turbo, which given its smaller size would give it a fun power to weight ratio. Honda should have named the HR-V as the C-RV Sport or Civic Cross, then bring over the Asian H-RV as either the H-RV or Fit Cross.

      CRV is a compact SUV... almost every compact SUV from every manufacturer is a 4 cylinder. Good luck finding a compact SUV with a 6 cylinder. I think you're barking up the wrong tree, the problem isn't Honda paired the CRV with a 4 cylinder, Honda paired the CRV with an inadequate and/or poorly-designed 4 cylinder. Honda has let the competition pass them by, but Honda doesn't realize it, and still charges more for less than the competition... I'd pass on both of these, there are far better options from different manufacturers... people need to stop the blind one-manufacturer fanboism. Things change yearly, and this isn't a good year for Honda.
