    F1 cars turned ugly after 2008. 2007-2008 season has the best car design.

    • @mclarensaleenf7
      @mclarensaleenf7 5 лет назад +2

      Spot on! The thinner rear wings and big and wide front wings looked awful. They still have hideous and massive front wings but at least they lowered the rear wings. Wish they'd allow some ground effects since it doesn't affect the air of the car behind I've read.

    • @FluppiLP
      @FluppiLP 5 лет назад +2

      @@mclarensaleenf7 well finally they want to. I am no engineer and yet since 2014 I've been saying that they have to take aerodynamic downforce away from the wings and use ground effect instead. That way you can have the same grip level but ground effect is not nearly as affected by dirty air as wings are. I do wonder how it can take those engineers at the FIA until 2021 to figure it out when a 17 year old can come up with this idea on how to fix the dirty air issues.
      Instead they made all cars ugly and while they look better now they are still no match for the 2008 cars. And it didn't even help. If anything it got even worse after they banned refueling and made for boring races.
      Add to this that the hybrid technology is the main factor for dominating now and it is expensive which turns the championship standings in a money ranking.
      Merc/Ferrari/RB with shitloads of money
      Renault for some reason incapable this season but still a manufacturer
      The private rest.
      The only podium this season that was not one of the top 3 teams was the 3rd place in Hockenheim, a chaotic race (and RB even only has one driver)
      It is a disaster for F1 and made me stop watching it. Back in the early 2000s there were 4 teams capable to win, Williams, Mclaren, Ferrari, Jordan (and later Renault instead of Jordan)
      While Ferrari was dominating it was still exciting because there was always a chance for an unexpected result. Today? Not so much. It is literally always the same teams, whether it rains or not, always the same result. (if you compare top3 finishers of the early 2000s and today you'll come to the same conclusion)
      Fucking boring and it made me stop watching anything other than a few highlight videos now and then.

    • @unfortunately_fortunate2000
      @unfortunately_fortunate2000 2 года назад +2

      "slight improvement on downforce" boi, 08-2021's aero figures arent even in the same ball park, aerodynamically these cars cant compete it was the lack of weight combined with their higher DF compared to what the world had seen before that made this era so blistering fast, they are not actually comparable though.
      weren't the V8's making 800 or so BHP? even with the new regs & the proposed gen2 turbo hybrids modern cars were and still are between 150-200BHP more powerful.
      seems like more than a slight difference when you actually think about it.

    • @mclarensaleenf7
      @mclarensaleenf7 Год назад +13

      Right, but Alonso did leave McLaren because he couldn’t get on with a teammate that was faster than him. Dude was so dramatic in ‘07, the pit lane incident in qualifying at Hungary was so childish. All because Ron Dennis realized Lewis could beat him more often than not, so he allowed Lewis to race him. The beginning of the season Alonso was the clear #1. But then at Monaco Lewis was catching him in the lead and Ron didn’t allow Lewis to go for it. Many claim Lewis got special treatment from Dennis but it was for sure the other way around, especially at the beginning when everyone thought Alonso would be the team leader. If I were Ron Dennis I would’ve fired him right after Hungary and allowed Pedro de la Rosa to take his seat. They were already disqualified from the constructors championship due to the spying debacle and Lewis had a healthy lead in the drivers champ. Alonso’s little temper tantrum might even have avoided the one point loss Lewis had in the championship that season. Then Alonso goes to Renault and wins in Singapore due to blatant cheating, which he was definitely in on with Flavio. Alonso is up there with the dirtiest drivers due to his early career in F1. He seems to have calmed down now and actually acknowledged how great of a driver Lewis is (he still hates him but he can’t not respect the rookie that beat him in the same car). Alonso is up there with the best, but he has not had the level teammates Lewis has had (besides ‘07 which showed he wasn’t even the fastest within his team)
