The tightest line isn't always the fastest. Drivers regularly take this line at turn 15 because there is usually a cross-wind and also the kerb unsettles the car. You see a lot of drivers have to make a correction mid-turn because they aimed for the apex and not for the exit kerb. Also the gradient allows you to take it wider than similar corners. Turn 4 and turn 7 he did lose time, but it's hardly a bad lap; even F1 drivers rarely hook up a perfect lap. Except maybe Rosberg in China 2012.
MotorsportMidget31 what are you talking about you can't be smooth at all in karting there is too little grid and no differential you have to be sliding all the time
Yeah, but for me driving such poetic machine like F1 car and being able to use only ~50 % of its possiblities will be awkward. I wouldn't have heart to do this to F1 car, to not let F1 machine to go full potential.
It is possible though, great example is Alonso. If you watch his old onboards with the Renault you can see he has a very, very aggressive driving style throwing his car into the corners. When you watch his driving style over the years you can clearly see it has become very smooth and isn't as aggressive as he used to be.

Lord Asmoday lol
The cars are actually incredibly stable at speeds that would seem outrageous in a normal car but are actually paralytically slow in Formula 1 terms.
Depending on the car, its probably scarier to drive at 160 kph than a F1 car at 300 kph.
Sooooo smooth. What fantastic judgment!!!

Thats a V8
Jenson Button at his home British GP was (in some term of this words) Nico Hülkenberg - always outside podium (few 4th places).
Until 2012, drivers were free to use DRS and KERS during FP and qualifying at their own discretion. It was really fun to watch.
The tightest line isn't always the fastest. Drivers regularly take this line at turn 15 because there is usually a cross-wind and also the kerb unsettles the car. God bless the 11" blown defuser so much grip
Blown diffusers were banned at that race.
Keep in mind that this lap (which brought Button to P5) was 1.2 seconds slower than webbers pole lap
@DjmfoxCo It's because button's father (don't know his name) taught him to drive in the wet with slick tyres and that made him even better in the dry.
Man I love the V10's but this sound kinda makes me change my mind...
Then: Jenson Button
Now: Lando Norris
Mclaren finally found their successor

The grip of the car is what really stands out. That and tyres not fully up to temp

DRS was free real estate in 2011
The only race that wasn’t allowed the blown diffusers 🤣
the best!
Not a single correction on the whole lap... mega
that's not copying that's being influenced by that, it's not that easy to suddenly change your style.

your right mate its impossible
but he should learn i mean

Button is my second favourit driver
hes so freakin fast dur the race
hamilton should copy his style
Comparing this to alonso. He’s way smoother. He doesn’t throw the car into a corner or rotate it in the middle of the corner.
One thing I don’t get is how trail braking or pressing throttle while braking helps a car go fast. Seems Button relies on that
@oakleyxmetalxx lol he doesn't count because he was off doing WRC in 2011. Looking forward to see both drivers going up against each other in 2012!

For me, with the changes of layout at this circuit they have totally destroyed it

The mclaren don't seem to hit the 7th gear rev limiter where the red bulls do.
