    Welcome to the 70s when music was fun. This one of those songs that just brings a big smile to my face. There's a lot of great pop bands from this time. I was five when it came out. For over 40 years it haunted me, just the beat of the choirs stuck in my head randomly playing and I could not find the song. It stemmed from the summer of my 6th birthday a great one involving a trip to the beach with my best friend and family. I can easily remember the hot backseat of my best friends moms 1960s round back Volvo that smelled like PeanutButter. A beautiful summer day on our way to meet up with my family at the beach for a BBQ. This song playing as we drove and talked about the coming Hydro plain races and the Stock car races soon after that we were all invited to. The song would be forever tied to that day, but I could never remember more than the choirs. On my 45th birthday my daughter, after herring me humming the choirs over and over and asking about it some months before, somehow found it and got me it on iTunes. This song will ALWAYS be in my heart.

    Yes Mouth (Willem Duyn) is the man and Maggie MacNeal (Sjoukje van't Spijker or Sjoukje Smit) is the woman. She does get a moment to show what she can do here. This is an extremely fun, catchy tune that is hard not to join in to. I was 11 when it came out and sang along whenever it came on the radio. I hadn't seen this video before. I have seen a few with Mouth "playing" the violin that you hear in a funny bit. Glad you enjoyed it.

    A great 1970 pop song for Amber would be 'Yellow River' by Christie. When I was a kid, we did exercise routines in gym class to popular songs, and this was one of them. It's so good. (Be sure to grab an HQ video.)

    I always loved this song. There is a cameo in the video by Sally Carr from Middle of the Road. You mention the idea of holding a beer stein in a bar. This is exactly what this type of song typified. The style originated in Germany with a folk sentiment called Schlager.

    • @russallert
      @russallert 10 месяцев назад +1

      I wondered if that was her (or Dutch singer Bonnie St. Claire - both gorgeous blondes from that era). Yeah, trying to explain clips like this to people not familiar with Schlager in the 70s is almost futile (especially clips from Starparade on ZDF featuring James Last). I'm Canadian, but I grew up with an awareness of the European pop scene, so I was collecting music like this from an early age - plus How Do You Do was a worldwide hit, so there was no escaping it.
