Because of the high quality of your content, as well as your self-deprecating humor, I never noticed your "weak" videographer skills. You are one of my favorites. Well done, sir.
Loved the references to Step Brothers at the end. The office looks great.
Did we just become best friends?
😂😂 fell off the john laughing
Should have been the cold open!!!
I absolutely LOVE these videos y’all did together! Please do more!
You two could have been brothers. :/
Q: What Drew you to Travis? 😐
We need more of this team! Great collab on this, following Drew now and looking forward to going through his content.
The author does like to from scratch, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
Turned out great! Drew really does a great job with studio setup stuff.
Level-up achieved!
You guys are a great team, like Jean Claude Van Damme & Jean Claude Van Damme in Double Impact.
The best duo
Sooo good
Yes - stayed until the end "Blooper" segment.... Great work guys!
Great to see Drew has been busy. Had been checking his channel and he hadn’t been putting out anything. I love to see some of my favorite woodworkers collaborate.
Thanks for sharing this. Also I received by Bosch dust collection adapter today and made the first cut. Keep up the great work your doing.
Dude. Drew fixed your hat shadow!
An impossible feat!
Nice Stepbrothers Reference!!!
I'm here because of wittworks. He's here because of you.
We've discovered the RUclips circle of life. 👋
Cool video as usual. Big fan of the goofing around at the end. Reminds me of my friends and I on breaks at work. 😅. Also, watching your business evolve is pretty inspiring and encouraging. 💪🏾💯
Welcome to Studio Greatness!
3 kids?! Dude! You and the wife been busy! Congrats! I think I remember when you guys were preggo with your first kid??
As for your new filming space; greatness doesn't stop at the shop.
We seek greatness from everything we do in our life, cooking, cleaning, self care, and all the little things that make up our lives.
The setup looks great and it'll give you options to create new content and grow your channel; and thats what its all about, growing and learning and wanting to be better.
You've taken it up a notch for sure. Looking forward to seeing how you use this space. Love what you did with the wall with the 1x3's, I may have to do something like that in one of my rooms.
Man. It's been so cool watching you grow from a small channel to where you are now. I think your first "ultimate workbench" was the first video that caught my attention. Sad that you had to leave that guy behind... You're doing great work here man. It's inspiring. Keep it up!
Love the Stepbrother outtakes 😂
Enjoyed both videos, thanks for sharing
Thank you for this video! Definitely gave me some idea's for videos I'm working on shooting
Giving us all things to implement. As a small channel, aspiring to growth, im thankful for this kind of content
Nice setup. A lot of people dont realize how much goes into making a set for recording, between the lights, mics, and the rest of the gear. Not saying one HAS to have all of this for great content, BUT in my opinion it makes a big difference and i can appreciate it.
I think the space turned out great! I did something similar with my shop (as far as lighting is concerned) and I think it makes a huge difference. One thing, if I might humbly suggest, is to add smart switches / outlets for the lighting. That way when you are staging shots you can turn off and on different lights from one place and don't have to keep walking back and forth to do so. For my shop as an example, I used to have to turn the lights for filming on at the back of each light, the colored accent light with a phone app, and the overhead shop lights from the switches on the wall. Now I have one box with a grid of buttons to be able to toggle different lights on and off, plus, one button I can press that sets up a shot for filming (turn off all overhead lights and turn on camera and accent lights). Anyway, nice work and nice collaboration!
Gets a like almost immediately for the Step Brothers reference. Keep up the good work
Wow what a difference! Great job.
A little tweak for the blank wall... Vols Smokey Gray mural. Now we're talkin'!!!
Nice job Travis and Drew. You two play well together. Thanks for sharing!
So funny! And great info. Love it!
Well done. The lighting is dramatically better. BTW, really like the homage to Zaphod Beeblebrox (whether intentional or not) in the opening.
Room looks great and you two guy together made a great video would love to see more of this
Wow, this looks great! I can hardly wait to set up the garage I’m building for video!
This is an awesome set up
LOVE the ending!
The studio looks great. The sound is IMO still pretty lively with a little "sustain" hanging on at the ends of sounds. It's not quite echoing but it could stand to be deadened a little more. A good test is to clap two small boards together a few times while recording, play it back and decide for yourself. That will really demonstrate the rate of the sound decay. At the same time, there's no need to be anechoic chamber dead.
Nice work! 🎉 And, great video. Your initial intuition about echo was spot on though. There's a fair bit. Some wall treatments would make it easier to listen to.
looks nice! :)
if echo ever becomes a problem, you could also try a different mic. lav or condenser mics pick up freakin everything. many dynamic mics would be better at not picking up the echo, but they would probably have to be in the shot, right in your face.
That ending was awesome
You guys make a great team. I look forward to more collaborations n the future. See you in the next installment.
awesome job guys!
Recently started watching your videos and they are great!
Looks really nice 👍
I just built a slatted wall for my studio, but i did mine horizontally. That way, it draws the eye to me, as I film in a corner.
Awesome advice 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing this.
Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
Great video. Loved it. So much insight for us uneducated filmers.
Travis, your new studio looks awesome, man!!!! Look at your progress.... I remember when you were a little grasshopper....😆 🤣 😂
Awesome video. There was a lot of greatness in that shop. I love how on both videos each other blamed the other for not really working. Keep up the great work. 👽
It’s always his fault.
Bunk beds?!
Shoulda been the cold open.
Great video. Really shows how some paint and those slats can turn a beige hole into a nice production studio
Set layout is a royal pain in the butt. There's some good tips and consideration in here. Thanks.
Oh, and the set turned out nice, too.
LOVE it Travis!!!
Love the "Step Brothers" reference!
Lumber on a catwalk in a box store? Huh? 20 or so years from now, you’ll be in a bigger space and someone will move in there. They’ll redecorate, pull the wood off the wall and see the hidden phone box / outlet. They go, what the hell is this and take it to a museum. Great job my man! 🇨🇦 - can’t wait to see the first bunk bed video with all that space for activities!
That box store was definitely Menards. I've been on those catwalks a time or two.
so much room for activities...great video!!!
My two favorite creators in a single video. Nice!
Not a fan of the "colorful" background but looks great otherwise. Those slats made a HUGE difference and look great ... just hit them with a bit of white light and the stain will provide a nice warm look.
One thing you have to do is that standing desk top. It makes sense that the top makes it usable, but you have to make a nice (live edge?) top for that and make it visually appealing as well as functional.
Looks cool. Run your cords over the t-bar. Easy fix.
Awesome! I’d just add that a more little audio absorption would make the room “studio perfect”, at least on some of the off-camera walls.
You are almost done. Buy a sofa and a couple of easy chairs that can be used in a recording, if you wish. They should be as big and fluffy with cloth, not leather. Normally they will sit along an off wall. Why? to help with softening the sound. There is still a lot of slap in that room. Also buy some drapes, not curtains and hang on the windows. All this can be used or second hand as long as it will look good on camera. You might want to consider getting an audio digital recorder and a mic boom for voice over. Measure the distance that you typically hang the mic on your chest and use the same mic on the mic boom. This will make anything you record in the room mix perfectly with voice overs. I had to explain this to the CBS show Numbers were they did a lot of voice overs in the series. Luckily they cleaned it up for syndication. Whenever possible record audio with the corner of the room behind you. These are all subtle things which will make a difference. I think I would add a soft room fill light to soften the contrast, just a shade. Keep it sharp, but it's a little too sharp. I hope this will help. Be safe.
hahahaha love the ending! Too bad you guys didn't have movie quality Chewbacca masks to finish it out! Space looks incredible! Love watching you rebuild your whole empire in a new space. Can't wait for you to get back on schedule with all the fun builds!
look up scissor clamps. they go on the bracing of the drop ceiling and can hold some non heavy lights. keeps things off the ground but also can be moved easily. looks good!
Great video. I am currently building a channel myself and I know how much work goes into it. Your video is interesting and informative.
Love these types of videos! You still have some echo, but switching from Lav mics to a Sennheiser Shotgun mic will solve that for you
Yeah representing San Antonio with Wittsorks baby! My hometown, but now I’m in Houston where Travis was from if I’m not mistaken.
Whoop!
None of this is something I’ll ever do or even need to know but I still found the video fun to watch. Very interesting.
Nce setup. Do you have a link to the shelving units you used?
awesome ending!!!!!
Hopefully not every video is shot in the new studio. It is cool, but i would still like the shop videos.
Oh for sure, this is just for some different types of videos. The garage/shop is still the main focus
Just got the Bambu P1P a week or so ago! How do you like your X1?!
"Have you WATCHED my channel?" 🤣😂🤣
I derive so much validation from this
This has to be one of my favorite videos, just because of the chemistry between you two! So glad y’all paired up and have become “best friends!” Please do more collabs together!
“TwittWorks” was hilarious!😂😂
LOL... missed commenting first. That sucks.
@@mariondorsett 😂😂
STOP ENCOURAGING HIS SLANDER OF MY BRAND 🤪
@@wittworks 😂😂😂😂 It was hilarious! It even made YOU smile! 😁
@@wittworks How do I get a TwittWorks t-shirt?
First of all, I totally agree with Drew's take on having a dedicated "flip it on and record" space. However, I wonder why you went to the trouble of staining the wood only to wash it out with the colored leds. I would vote to use the light color on the opposite wall that compliments the wood stain. The wood keeps it in the 'shop' space.
Great feedback! I’ll experiment with that
I will say it does look a little weird and different but I’m excited to see how you evolve and use the space to its fullest potential
I really enjoyed this vid, Travis. You should invite Drew over more often for collaborations. The space looks awesome already. Now, all you need to do is start making even more content 😎😋
Hell yes we deserves to see that clip at the end hahahaha
Looks great!
That's a quote and a half, "It wouldn't be a DIY project without crappy wood and walnut stain."
Where on earth did you find the small racking??
Film school 101, right? I don't know, I didn't go. LOLOLOL! Also funny is Spencer (Insider Carpentry) just mentioned how he gets dragged in the comment when he says heighTH 😂
You went to menards!
You ought to collaborate with house of timber for your sign.
What camera are you using?? Most important part, i'd argue
Thought Drew was Pete Davidson for a minute lol they could be brothers
Not a fan on the new setup. Too dark. But what do I know?
Really nice room but I have to disagree that you don't need acoustic treatment, can totally hear the reverb when you are talking, DIY acoustic panels would be good content for a future video too
DUST COLLECTION! Yeah.
one of your better videos 🥰
What paint color is that grey?
Peppercorn, same as the shed!
Just curious, what is the brand of shelving the 3D printers ended up on?
from menards
Where do you buy your racks/rack parts from?
Menards! They have tons
@@ShopNation, figures closest one is about 3-1/2 hours away. They sell piece parts and such?
Why are you wasting time with this when you could be designing the dust collector chute for my 12” Hercules sliding miter saw? 😊
I know I know...lol
Phillip we talked about it on the trip! He needs to do it asap
Wittworks is a great channel.. Drew has a really interesting delivery and yeah, he's kinda witty.
Tacos, I like how he thinks!
This is my sign to finish my office 🤦🏾♂️
I am looking to paint the ceiling in my 200 sq ft shop. Exposed joists and sub floor from above. Not looking for this kind of effect (which is awesome!) but wondering if I should go white or black. Ceiling height is only 7.5 feet or so. Input from anyone is appreciated!
Flat black. That's the easiest to control and you can always add highlights/texture/interest with colored lighting. With white you can't make it brighter for highlights because it's already white. You can only add shadows.
@@David-hm9ic Thanks!
I think your "weak" camera skills are what made ur channel better, Most people who do DIY projects just want the facts and how to build something, we dont need purple and pink lights in a studio, why does everyone do this, so annoying
Thank you?
I agree, now it looks like EVERY podcaster/youtuber background.
@@ShopNation You should know better than most, If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. There was zero complaints about ur channel quality, everyone who watches, watches for you. We don’t care that ur face was a different shade of white in the clip before hand,, it looks more like you’re filming true crime video or something.
Hite is correct- height not heigth.
Length however... is. Maybe that's why we have a tendency to do that.
Drew is awesome.
I’ll send you $20 later
@@wittworks 👍 Donate it to a worthy cause.
BTW, I do realize you weren't really going to send me $20 😂
What kind of shelving is that - I don’t see it listed in the description.
