I had a shed built recently and want to figure out how to get it wired. I got medium gravel to go under for drainage. I got a ton delivered to my house from a guy on Facebook. It cost me $150.
Looks great. 2 thoughts…. Gutters, at least across the porch. And bathroom facilities. It’s a hike back to the house. And if you use that refrigerator for beverages that I suspect you will during college football season, you might need to think of someplace to go. Outhouse greatness you can call that series.
Love it. Built a 10x10 shed a while back. Didn’t know squat about how t do but figured it out along the way and it came out pretty good. Just purchased my first home that has a 20x30 metal shed that desperately needed to be demolished. Can’t wait to build a new shed/small house to replace it.
I got anxious just watching you build this by yourself. Well done. End of an era! Love the 2x4 roof ladder You’re a real master caulker. Thank you for not painting your trim white.
Great Build! As someone who has built a shed from scratch, I can appreciate the level of effort that goes into it. Regarding the river rocks....I had a rock path next to the house and no matter how often I blew the leaves out, they somehow get tucked down in between some of the rocks. Now mine were very white rocks, so it got dirty looking super fast. The only thing I would suggest is maybe placing a stepping stone path to the fire pit and shed. With little ones, they can easily roll an ankle on river rocks.
I bought a used 12 x 20 Tough Shed for $800. Disassembled it, destroying the roof in the process, moved it, reassembled it on a 3/4 gravel base and roofed it for a total of about $2k. Total time one week.
Looks great, you did very well. While not a huge roof area you will get plenty of water running off the roof. It really needs guttering or channel & grate to ensure erosion does not occur.
Impressive build. I’m building an 8’x8’ “treehouse” that I budgeted for round $15,000. “You are cray-to the -Z” my wife said. So, had a lot of the lumber milled by my local sawyer and I’ll build my own windows and door….it’s pretty massive but, except for a slab foundation, has lot of similar features (photovoltaic cells, metal roof, live edge cedar siding…). Bottom line, passion can be expensive! Well done, sir!
Woh great minds, I want to do the exact same thing on a lake lot I just purchased with 4 oak trees perfect for an awesome treehouse. And my wife is the same, 'Are you nuts' ;)
@@CyArch97 I wish I could send pictures. Our trees are Live Oaks and they are much beloved trees here in central Texas. In order to preserve them I opted to get some big cedar logs and build a platform “amongst” the trees and not “on” the trees. Concrete piers, anchors, big cedar slab skirt joists and live edge cedar siding….a while thing! Good luck and happy building!
Impressive. Watching your video reminded so much of exactly how mine went. I built a 34x20 almost entirely on my own and your video went almost exactly like mine. Trash pile, rain splashing dirt on the outside, stuff piled up instead. I'm about 95 percent done with mine. Way to go
Beautiful shed Travis. You will enjoy many years of fun and football memories with this project. The cost really isn't too bad. I did an extension to my garage, 14X20, for my workshop and it was over $40K. With all the rebar in the foundation I had to do to pass city code, you could park a tank on the foundation and not hurt it. All for a woodshop and our crazy city codes.
“…crazy city codes….” Having had to tear down extensions and sheds built by previous owners without consideration of codes, I favor code-built. I do not have to wonder how long it will last. I acknowledge that some parts of various code are overkill, nonetheless, safety and re-sale value are important to me.
Love the ideas. Did similar build that’s still not completely finished, but I knew it was going to be a long process. I work by myself too. Thanks for sharing!
WOW! Incredible job and a great inspiration for homeowners. Thank you for sharing your project and the process, showing that hard work makes something to be proud of, that will last many, maaaaany years to come.👍🏼👍🏼Extra kudos for thinking of everything right down to the smallest details, that others might not have. Question: What about Rain Gutters to push water away from the shed? What about solar panels for top off the power source? Awesome builded always like watching your projects.
I bought a BX (armored cable) cutter, now I use bx any time I do any exposed wiring, and it offers a cool, more finished/industrial look. Love this project. Just signed up for the plans!
Absolutely Awesome! Looks better than a shed kit. Your Wife must REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE you to spend that much. My wife is LOL at me and I haven't told her the cost.
I like your video that showed how u did all your prep work and the detail description of the cost. Those who are looking for a tiny house now they know the pre work and the cost minus the labor cost. Excellent presentation with detailed information.👍🏽
Gorgeous little project. With that roof pitch you could easily install a rain barrel system and have an outdoor hose-off area for washing tools, your chairs, etc.
Enjoyed the series Travis and a brilliant outcome as well, you and your family are going to have hours and hours of fun and relaxation there. Stay Safe, Barry (ENG)
Looks great! As for cost, it seems to me, given your comparable examples, you definitely got the best long term value for dollars spent. The quality materials and features, the owner-built attention to details, versatility, longevity and the intangible value from use and enjoyment make it a big time winner for what you spent.
I remodeled a 13.5 foot skipper camper that was originally built in 1973. Your project cost figures are really helpful for appreciating the financial scope of the project. Your sharing of mistakes made throughout the project were great for making the project reasonably approachable by a DIYer who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Great build. You mentioned running electric to it but I think going solar would be awesome. I also think running some gutters would really help with the drainage off the roof.
Besides all the trees blocking light self contained solar with inverter and battery would add in around $10k but he has youtube money for it so it's nothing.
@@superpj you can get a solar generator like jackery and panels for wayyyy less than 10 k.... I paid 1800 CAD for a 1000 watt generator and 2 x 100 watt solar panels. Wow! I built a couple of sheds in my lifetime and yours is most awesome. I didn't know what I was doing but after 18 years It is still standing proud and my neighbors love it. Mine is basically 11 x 12. I've had to replace the doors twice as they were old salvaged doors. I used T1 11. And I have had some rot issues I have had to repair. But it keeps going and yours will last a lifetime or two. Thanks for sharing.
After +15 years in the Automotive industry, I finally got myself some land. Just over a Acre, I have started to build sheds and tiny houses out of some of the Travel Trailers that were left on my property when I got it. The construction has been easy after tearing a trailer down to bare frame and the mess is cleaned up. I appreciate the prep time that goes into paint day. Cars will spend weeks or even months of sanding and all the bondo work before ever being considered ready to start masking off for paint. Paint day only takes 1-3 days including clear coats but any defects that were ignored are quickly noticed once a nice coat of paint is laid down. Nice build!
Love the whole build series! 🎉. Not to pick but plastic chairs around the fire pit from such an accomplished builder is OK temporarily but need replaced when not running your business. 😃. Love all you do!
I have some of the poly-wood chairs with stainless hardware. Even though I could have made some great chairs, I enjoy the lack of maintenance and a 20 year warranty. True. I did't get that sense of accomplishment from building them myself but one less thing on the to-do list is kind of priceless around here. 😇
Beautiful shed, thanks for sharing. Only two things I would do differently is running conduit under the slab for the future. And use a smaller gravel and compact it for the area around the fire pit. Make it better to walk on and rake leaves. But again thanks for sharing
The shed turned out great! That whole area with the fire pit nestled back in the trees looks really cool. Oh, and that refrigerator is a must. Well done.
The shed turned out great Travis you did an amazing job for never doing anything like this before you did a great job especially for doing it all by yourself that’s a ton of work so hats off to you amazing work 👏👏
Very good job I built my shed 4 years ago at my old house then I sold the house and moved to a new one with bigger backyard so I am planning to build a bigger one and you gave me some cool ideas on these videos, thank you for sharing this with us
Congratulations!!! Looks great. So what a few thousand more than neighbors sheds, but sounds like you've got a lot more fort your money and much more flexibility and storage potential than them. I'm impressed. Great job!
Great build!!! I also build somthing-- a 30x30 deck one story tall. I can park 4 cars underneath and keep them shaded from the sun. I'm taking a 2-3 month break, but soon will be building my desert cabin on top of this deck.
Great series. Congrats on finishing. The shed and area look fantastic. Just out of curiosity, though, why didn’t you add a gutter system to help with water run off? Apologies if you said why earlier in the series and I just missed it.
It’s absolutely phenomenal my man! Such detail, materials and cool design. Still can’t believe you did it all by yourself. I would suggest to fix your erosion problem by putting some gutters to help drain their water where you don’t want it. - your 🇨🇦 buddy. 🤜
I have to paint a bunch of 2x6’s for a porch roof project, I’ve been dreading it but I never thought of using a sprayer. Good idea, thank you for that.
Dude. Nice. Makes me want to redo the single-angle roof on the cabin I built with a proper peaked roof to gain the extra vertical space. I'm a chickenshit when it comes to height, but that 2x4 ladder/roof-climbing-thing you built solves all my issues. I'm having a classic "why didn't I think of that" moment here.
Turned out awesome. The cost is pretty good if you think that only a few grand more and you'd have a legit tiny house that could be rented out! $20K to add a rental space; seems reasonable. And yeah, that sense of satisfaction is priceless. Good work!
12:05 go to a hardwood dealer and get skip planed 4/4 ceder lumber then use it to make a ceder bench Rough cut lumber is a lot cheaper from a hardwoods dealer then deck lumber from the big box store, skip planed lumber also looks nice enough for an outdoor bench you can always sand it.
Can't believe I watched the whole video..😅😅 It really grew on me. You're really good at not just construction but your video was really well done. I can't build a "bird house" but you make this look like anyone can. Your Blueprints are about $50-$100 too cheap but?? You might submit this to HGN or another network and see if you can get a show out of it?😮 Seriously, you did a great job on the whole project. Good for you...
🔨💪💰 Wow, your "shed" has certainly evolved into something much more than expected! It's impressive how your project transformed into a multi-functional space with a studio, half bath, and even serving as a spare bedroom. The amount of work and investment you've put into it is commendable. Now, the need for an actual shed arises. It's fascinating how projects can take on a life of their own and lead to unexpected outcomes. Keep up the great work and enjoy your versatile "tiny house"! 🔨💪💰
The first few years, I sealed my cedar fence every spring, however, I quit after about 4 years and now it is starting to turn in patches, but it will look ok once it all matches again. Since you mentioned winter, I assume it gets cold, so am wondering why you chose not to insulate it and maybe put a wood stove in it to enjoy the Super Bowl...

Nice build!
Looks great; wonderful craftsmanship. Good job.
Yes, for sure, please do post the plans, I want this for MY TINY HOUSE BUILD !!!!
Great job at an excellent price !
In awe! Ty for sharing, showing and explaining! Great camera work.
Very nice work and looks awesome. I want to do something similar, but with less falling and less time under construction
I remodeled a 13.5 foot 1973 skipper camper. It was a great project and I can take it with me anywhere I go 🤩
Been watching you for a few years and you continue to amaze!
Keep up the great work!
I really enjoyed this series. You deserve an undefeated season from whatever college it is you root for.
😄😄
Good to see you back…..missing your beautiful work!
Been a great journey, thanks for bringing us along!
*shop Nation, you are one outstanding operator. Congrats on the project and thanks for sharing superbly! Bob Campbell
Glad to see it done, looks great!
You need a shelf or table on the porch for snacks!
Well done.
That's a thing of beauty! Can't think of a better way to catch a big game then outside and around a fire, the tv was a nice touch.
You are skillful builder, and very knowledgeable. I could see you’re on your own home TV, series “Outdoor Builds”. Well done grasshopper
You did an amazing job!! I love it and kudos to you for sticking it out and making a really beautiful shed!!!
I really enjoyed the shed build series. Thanks for bringing us along.
Personally I am so pleased that your in laws will now have some shelter when they come to stay with you. Bravo.
Awesome, just awesome! Love the color scheme. Keep it up!
Really like the whole lay out in and outside....Good job.
The shed turned out great Travis you did an amazing job for never doing anything like this before you did a great job especially for doing it all by yourself that’s a ton of work so hats off to you amazing work 👏👏
The greatest wood shop, “Shop Greatness” used PVC outdoor chairs 😎. Great video series. Thank you.
Turned out awesome!! Nice work dude
Very good job
I built my shed 4 years ago at my old house then I sold the house and moved to a new one with bigger backyard so I am planning to build a bigger one and you gave me some cool ideas on these videos, thank you for sharing this with us
Congratulations!!!
Fantastic job. That is an awesome space for friends and family.
FYI, paint the trim first with the sprayer. It's quicker to mask it off, especially since you have to mask most of it anyway
I have to paint a bunch of 2x6’s for a porch roof project, I’ve been dreading it but I never thought of using a sprayer. Good idea, thank you for that.

I had a good little laugh when you showed the part with your son. Great job on your tiny project.
And his daughter making a cameo appearance.
Dude.
I've been looking for leg levelers for a while. the second I saw the one you used, I clicked your link and bought them. Thanks and your welcome.
Congrats! Great job. Loved the series. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
Found your channel two days ago, binged this series, wake up this morning to the finale 🍾
Subbed
Oh wow, timed that perfect!
Wow! Great job, beautiful results for a very reasonable price! Well done!
Thank you for the follow up video. Looks amazing.
Awesome job.
Blessing’s, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
Just beautiful! What a great spot to enjoy ❤
Great series my friend! Thanks for letting us tag along.
That is shed greatness. I liked this series a lot. Well done.
Great build I'm definitely going to need to see those plans.
Turned out awesome. The cost is pretty good if you think that only a few grand more and you'd have a legit tiny house that could be rented out! $20K to add a rental space; seems reasonable. And yeah, that sense of satisfaction is priceless. Good work!
Such a cool build, and such a cool channel. Keep up the good work!
Awesome makeover. Thanks for sharing!!!
I have shed envy! Well done!
I’m just happy to see I’m not the only one that is fully confident they have all the material and then have to make two more trips to get it all.
Congrats on finishing it! Looks great!
Such an amazing project. Love the reveal. and the stones... and firepit..... and ... well..... all of it.
12:05 go to a hardwood dealer and get skip planed 4/4 ceder lumber then use it to make a ceder bench
Rough cut lumber is a lot cheaper from a hardwoods dealer then deck lumber from the big box store, skip planed lumber also looks nice enough for an outdoor bench you can always sand it.
Man that’s one sweet looking shed I love it’s gos charm ..You did. Good job man cool as ❤️🙏😀👍🦘🇦🇺🇺🇸
Great Build
Well done and enjoy every moment out there
Greetings from South Africa
Wonderful 👍 Video and Training for us. Well done young man.
Can't believe I watched the whole video..😅😅
It really grew on me. You're really good at not just construction but your video was really well done. I can't build a "bird house" but you make this look like anyone can.
Your Blueprints are about $50-$100 too cheap but??
You might submit this to HGN or another network and see if you can get a show out of it?😮
Seriously, you did a great job on the whole project.
GOOOOOD J.O.B!! Been following since the first video! everything turned out really good man!!!
