Cus was only Floyd's manager, never a trainer. It was a man named by Frank Lavelle who trained him. Frank was the only man who trained/taught about boxing. Frank was a good fighter himself and he believed in bobbin and weaving. That became the basic of Floyd's fighting style. Frank used to make Floyd touch him own ear tabs by his thumbs to make sure his hands were always in place to protect his head from punches he couldn't slip. It looked like he was playing peekaboo. It was the birth of his famous peekaboo style. Cus had nothing to do with it. Cus was inspired by Maxie Rosenbloom's style and stuff were all made up BS to make up a storty. Cus doubble crossed Frank since they never had any contract wrirten and fired him. Floyd self thought himself and trained himself ever since. Floyd fired Cus the same way Cus fired Frank. The person who gave Floyd confidence and taught him to believe in himself was a teacher at his reform school at Wiltwyck NY. Her name was Miss Vivian something. Floyd was not the youngest child of 11. He had 2 older brothers before him and I think he had 2 older sisters, but that makes him 5th child of 12. 12 siblings, not 11. You need to research much carefully than this. You check out Floyd's early fighting films and you see Floyd's hands weren't very high. It came higher and higher a little by a little as years went by. The Peekaboo was the result of the many years of Floyd's own experience in the ring and the very hard work between Floyd and Frank. I was with Floyd for 25 years and I was taught and trained by him. No one knows him like I do.

Awesome video, an amazing testament to both of THEM and the relationship they have/had. Dont mean to be disrispectful or anything like that but in my opinion its insanely important Mikes last words in the video, he says "it takes more than that to be a fighter" not "things wouldnt to be a fight" dont even what that means tbh. thank you absolute like

"Mike asked if I could be his mother, I said yes Mike." These are the saddest words and the most inspiring words I've ever heard because growing all I had was my mother. My father stayed far from home and came home fortnightly. He died after I turned 7. My mother was all we had(9 children from the same mother and father), no father and no money. At least I never had to look for a mother. God bless the woman who yes yes Mike I will be your mother❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢.

Floyd Patterson's finest moment in his boxing career was when he knocked out ingomar Johansson and became the first fighter to win back the heavyweight crown. Jack Dempsey & Gene Tunney had publicly said he would not win and didn't even deserve a rematch. Cus D. Amato told Patterson that he couldn't beat Liston.
Some of liston's opponents, just like Tyson's opponents years later -were defeated psychologically before they ever entered the ring.
Cus is 100% right about the psychological importance.
You need to have your mind right.

No Patterson's finest moment, was what he is remembered for, being the first boxer to make a million dollar purse, and the first boxer to make a million dollar pure in multiple fights. Patterson in the late 50s and early 60s was the money man in boxing, and everybody wanted to fight him, because you made more money fighting him. That was the mark he made on boxing, getting huge guaranteed purses.
