Cus found a way to survive for eternity, he discovered Mike Tyson and we're still talking about him today.

    • @perpetualmotion357

They are forever intertwined. "When my fighter is in that ring, I'm also in that ring too." -Cus. He instilled 60 years of boxing knowledge into his ultimate physical specimen. People often say they are waiting for the next Mike Tyson. You can't have the next Mike without having a man like Cus, who imo was the best mind in boxing the sport ever produced. The style is not only entertaining, it's also beautiful to watch. It's not even an old school style to me. Cus took the technical side of boxing and improved it. It's actually an upgraded way to fight. "How dare they challenge me with their somewhat primitive skills, they're just as good as dead." - Mike Tyson.

It’s an amazing situation. For Cus to be able to find someone that might not have had the dream or vision starting off but to have been able to instill this vision and the discipline into Mike and then drive him forward without him derailing. It’s pretty heartbreaking that Cus did end up leaving right before seeing Mike reach the finish line and Mike will always have that unfillable hole in that he never got the one person he wanted to see at the finish line to celebrate with him be there

It's fascinating to me how calm, collected, and coherent Mike was during interviews as a kid; compared to his interviews late in his career. He always had the right answers and was able to form those answers in a coherent manner with genius level boxing IQ. It's crazy to me how much Cus trained him psychologically but when he died all of that knowledge seemed to die with him. Cus is one of those people you wish was alive just to hear his thoughts. It wouldn't even have to pertain to boxing at all. He just seems to me, to be a one person think tank.

I go by the greatest I've ever seen in the ring. Some people's criteria are title defenses, which is one of the reasons Joe Louis is often ranked #1. My criteria are how far the fighter reached the pinnacle of skill. For a brief moment in time 85'-88', I have never seen another fighter on the level that Tyson reached. You combine the greatest mind in boxing instructing his perfect physical specimen mentally and physically, it's no wonder Mike was such a devastating fighter. He not only had the physical gifts to get by on, he soaked up the mental gifts Cus gifted him to become one of the greatest or possibly the greatest we've ever seen. Tyson is like a cheat character in a video game.
      Power - 10
      Speed - 10
      Elusiveness - 10
I believe the more time that passes, the more revered he's going to be. In 100 years, I think most people will look back and unanimously consider Mike the greatest ever.

Tyson will be remembered forever, the benchmark for sheer single mindedness, dedication and ferocity in boxing. Growing up watching all of his fights he was unstoppable. What a legend

He was way ahead of his time that’s why he will always be remembered and he could’ve beat Buster Douglas and Lennox Lewis! Only if he would’ve stayed focused like DMato said no DISTRACTIONS NO DISTRACTIONS NO DISTRACTIONS.!! And this is a lesson we should all learn to become successful!
