Always been able to sing with nobody watching but when I'm on stage in front of people it's always an awkward experience. Hate having people look at me. I don't know what to do and sometimes I get shaky and it all messes with me.
SAME but at the same time i want to be able to sing in front of an audience and i love being on stage so i've been trying to fight my stage fright for years now and it got a little better recently
i think smiling makes you look like you're happy to be there, if you're not using your microphone stand, it just looks like noise in the picture, and the arm thing... i'm glad i've always played instruments and i still do now that im getting into singing, or i would'n know what to do with them. thanks for the advice!
Excellent video. I am a major performer with several awards and I agree with everything Nichola said. (I don’t know if I spelled her name correctly) It is so important to put the microphone stand behind you if you are not using it and I will also add that what can lessen the nervousness that you ,igniting feel is to really know your ,arterial and what every song means to you so that you can fully engage the audience. I wish anyone coming into this business the very best. It is not easy but you must persevere if this is your goal. Vivian Reed
OMG!!! As a singer, I had to learn "the hard way" how important these things are. If you don't master these techniques, you'll be missing at least HALF of your potential performance.
This is super helpful! I usually play guitar when I sing live so I don't have to worry about what to do with my hands, but recently I've been performing with a band type setup and I've felt so awkward and would do the weirdest things with my hands so I'll definitely work on this for the next performance I have haha :)
Interesting. 'Tricks' (of the trade), polish and technique notwithstanding, some of which is outlined here, summarised in a word stage presence is *theatre* . Critically important for solo vocalists who become the sole focus for the audience. So vocal presentation encompasses elements of acting, whether it's an extrovert inadvertently immersed caught up in the moment without inhibition (natural actor), or method trained to reveal and expose the fragile aspects of self without regard for a potentially embarrassed ego.
I've always believed that the reason people lack stage presence is simply to do with relating to the song, understanding the lyrics, knowing the lyrics and then sending that message to the crowd.Hands down Bono,Bruce Springsteen Dylan Janis, these artists really got there stories thru and more so live.
a few years ago before my fist performance as a singer with a band, someone told me to move my arms more. The subsequent video of me became forever known as "limp noodle arms". It was dreadful but I improved over time. I have had to face the fact that I am apparently "movement impaired". Nothing I do looks natural & everything I do looks awkward on stage to some degree so I don't try to look like a pro. There are many very famous singers who have a strange or odd stage presence so I have embraced my awkward moves and I love performing so much that I've learned to relax and be myself anyway.
Lol well I have no problem with no. 3 lol my hands are always moving in expressing emotion when I sing. Though I've never sang live concerts before (and since singing is just a hobby I don't suppose I ever will :( ) anyway I'm so glad I found this channel these singing tips are so useful.
All your tips helped, also.. about having flu, I have so many events this december with my band and it helped a lot. Today I'm still applying those tips on the other video :D
I'm in a metal band and the 2nd and 3rd tip would apply naturally for the style that I sing. However the 1st tip, not so much. Unless it's a crazy psychotic enjoy killing people kind of smile. Lol!!!
Hi.. Thanks for your advice. That was awesome. When i perform on stage after 3 songs i find it very deficult to maintain my voice and energy level.. How do i correct it?
What should I say to a crowd as a singer though? I'm gonna get up on stage for the first time soon and play but I don't know what I'll say to the crowd in between songs. Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for this video! At my school we are doing the lion king this year for the production. Auditions are soon and I am super nervous. We have to sing, dance and act. I'm really excited because I'm auditioning for Mufasa, Zazu and The meerkat (I forgot his name XD)
A problem i often face is that since im playing guitar and singing at the same time, i cant hold the microphone, so its just on the stand, making it impossible for me to be able to move around on stage. Any suggestions?
Num Nums Learn from famous singer songwriters who you admire on stage. Watch videos from Ed Sheeran or maybe some acoustic stuff that Prince has done. Eva Cassidy, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Kelly, etc
I wouldt do tip 1 in every situation, for example when you're preforming a sad song you don't wanna smile to you're audience cauze that will take all the emotion out of the song
Smile brightly before the song starts as a greeting to the audience, then get into the song with its emotions. Don't smile during the song, unless of course you're interacting with the audience, which is rare unless you have an instrumental break or you're in a group
I sing well but I get so scared to open my mouth on stage.. it feels like if I hit a wrong note people are gonna judge me. Also this doesn't happen when I only have to dance on stage.. weird lol
TL;DR
1. Smile
2. Use your microphone stand effectively
3. Use your arms expressively
Thank you for this lil
Lol*
I was hoping you would include something about swinging a mic stand around without giving your drummer a concussion.
Concussion is fine - just remember you're in the firing line for snapped and dropped sticks.

Close your eyes here and there
Just close your eyes and feel the song. That's it. Try it and let me know if it works
Same here 😔 I even tend to forget the lyrics even though I've memorized it by heart
Stage freight think about your gift not the crowd love
tip: speed 1.25
👍👍👍
Worked!!!
I put it on 2x :v
@@KreepyJD Me too, you get through it twice as fast. :) Good tips though.
Thank you!
"Use your microphone stand effectively."
Ronnie Radke: * throws into the crowd * yahahahaha xD
🤣
Yessssss I love Ronnie 😂😂❤️❤️

When you moved the stand back it was powerful!
Thank you. I need to use your tips more often. I won't be so self conscious.

"It's not just something to put your microphone on" If you're interested, Harry Styles wrote a book on how to use it as a stripper pole.
Thank you for your videos! I always enjoy them and they give me tips to share with my students from a different perspective.

Truthful and useful tips here. Appropriate to any performance, not just singing 👍
Really great tips! Thanks :)

lol!!! This cracked me up. :))
Glad you like that. There's plenty more where that came from.
In the studio now I'll shoot you a copy of the single. Trying to work in the choreography of the smiles in the live performance.

The surfboard makes the shot look trippy lol
the smiling is a thing you shouldnt always use, take beyonce as an example she smiles in certain songs but in other she is so fierce and that

Glad to hear it! :)
Hi.. Thanks for your advice. That was awesome.
When i perform on stage after 3 songs i find it very deficult to maintain my voice and energy level.. How do i correct it?
Wow! I needed That! :)
If I am singing a sad song, shall I smile when I went on stage before singing?
Yep!
Good tips! One question on your 2nd tip, you suggest in general not using the mic stand, why did you suggest using the mic stand on a slower sad song?
Thank you
I think the smiling will help
What should I say to a crowd as a singer though? I'm gonna get up on stage for the first time soon and play but I don't know what I'll say to the crowd in between songs. Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for the secrets, i have already subscribed too
I have very long arms and I’ve always felt super insecure cause of it, i simply don’t know how to move without looking awkward lol
Thanks for this video! At my school we are doing the lion king this year for the production. Auditions are soon and I am super nervous. We have to sing, dance and act. I'm really excited because I'm auditioning for Mufasa, Zazu and The meerkat (I forgot his name XD)

Your voice is SOOOO satisfying

Does anybody know the name of the song in the end?
It's called 'No Room For Promises'. Its a song I wrote and its on my own music channel: ruclips.net/user/nicolamilanmusic :)
Nice one
To anyone that would like to see great performances on stage I would recommend watching Bobby Darin or Raphael de España live
LOVE Bobby Darin!
Thank you Sweetie, I will try that tonight if I can remember through the FEAR!!! :)
I have a bad kind of stage nervous
A problem i often face is that since im playing guitar and singing at the same time, i cant hold the microphone, so its just on the stand, making it impossible for me to be able to move around on stage. Any suggestions?

Can you give tips how to sing stable while dancing??
#PLEASE
The microphone thing:
Amy Lee of Evanescence did that during her first concert of her most recent tour
I wouldt do tip 1 in every situation, for example when you're preforming a sad song you don't wanna smile to you're audience cauze that will take all the emotion out of the song
cool
thank you my freinds said i did good at school at the talent show and i did good i knew but i just felt like i moved to much
it was scary infront of 1200 people

How do I smile if it’s a sad song?
Smile brightly before the song starts as a greeting to the audience, then get into the song with its emotions. Don't smile during the song, unless of course you're interacting with the audience, which is rare unless you have an instrumental break or you're in a group
Tip: 1.5 speed
I have a performance duet today, and BURLY looking up tips.. 😂
Do you know which character I can relate to? Rosetta from the cartoon Sing, *"you can sing but you're boring to watch,"* ಥ⌣ಥ
I sing well but I get so scared to open my mouth on stage.. it feels like if I hit a wrong note people are gonna judge me. Also this doesn't happen when I only have to dance on stage.. weird lol
I see a lot of local musicians that just stand there on stage like trees, they never dance or move around and get into it.
Since I play guitar and sing I can only utilize #1. LOL :)
