The trick is to actually put the e clip before mounting the light on the gun. If you install this light on a full size gun it’s really hard to secure the eclip after mounting because it’s almost impossible to access the notch on the securing screw. Just do it before you mount it, thank me later!
Yea idk why they don’t have a cap or something that screws on at that side to really lock it in. It could use the same side on the multi tool to tighten down. For now i just put loctite instead of the e clip
The rest of this flashlight is fantastic, definitely worth it. But here is no reason for these abominable clips to exist. Why in God's name wouldn't you just have a receiving nut for added tension, plus a little Loctite? I'm punching air over here trying to get literally less than a cent's worth of steel into a gap the size of my peehole. This part of the design should have been phased out years ago. *NO ONE* wants to deal with tiny parts. They should know this by now. Eff this. I'm raw-doggin' it till I can find some Loctite.
@@jtasgl88 I eventually got it on that way. What no one tells you is that the screw's threading has a gap on the end where you're supposed to slide the clip on, before sliding the light onto the weapon and tightening it the rest of the way. Of course, if they had just machined the screw 1/16th of an inch further, this wouldn't be an issue, but w/e. PS-- the tool didn't help. That microscopic lip they give you helps none when the rest of the tool is a stubby bit of plastic that bumps against the body of the light. Stupid design. Absolute buffoonery. I got the clip in with a very small punch and a pair of thin needlenose pliers, blunted at the end.
Pro tip on the e-clip….take the light off the pistol, tighten the screw all the way, this will expose enough of the threads to push it on, then loosen the screw, mount to the pistol, and tighten down.
After several try’s with the “Multi-Tool” I reverted to using a very small pair of needle nose pliers and a micro screwdriver. I’ve had to use this method often when I was a Mercruiser/OMC/Johnson/ and Mercury mechanic. Best of luck to ya!
Bump +1. My issue with the 1913 + the key is that it is still coming off during stress, as well. Trying it one more time by just tightening the thing, reallly tight though Im afraid of damaging the screw or light.
@tezshok119 I ended up using blue loctite. After my first trip to the range the light was a little bit loose and the Loctite seems to be keeping it in place.
Hello! Thank you for the video, I was able to install it easily with your method, however I’ve seem to have lost the e clip or it was misplaced. Does your website provide e clips for sale?
I’ve tried forever to get this thing on this morning. Already lost one in the carpet. I’ve decided to give up and leave it off. From the research l I’ve done they are not really necessary anyway . I may be wrong. Whatever happens O Well it happens . Thanks for the video nevertheless!👍
It’s not that hard the reason it’s hard is because you need to have enough of the screw sticking out then once placed you can back it out until the metal sits tight with the base
I never would have guessed mounting a light was more than just attaching it as it comes right out the box haha… very helpful

Very very helpful.Thank you so much!
Best video on the install. Nice job
e clip is B.S. for the price they need something better

Fuck that clip. I used loctite blue 242
You'd be better off just keeping a nickel on ya to tighten once in a while
Olight mount style is much better.
@RejectedManiac thanks for the tip! Eclip is garbage

Did you try doing it with the light not mounted? Use the little tool that comes with it and it will push right on.

You are completely right, that clip is worthless. I thought the same about a nut and loctite.
My screw already had scratches but the light works well
Will blue lock tight alone be good enough?? I can’t get the damn clip on and don’t want to scratch anything.

You are right about scratches on the screw. Wish I had known beforehand. Mounted a Foxtrot 1x on a Sig Compact 320 for Home defense.
ty, didnt install eclip and after a few hundred rounds came loose
3:18 The most important part and I can't see what you did there.
Great video!
Boy i tell you what. Seeing that e clip make me wanna buy the o light baldr mini
great video
How do I put on e clip. I lost one in 3 mins.
They need to send me more. 150$ and this won’t even go on.
lol that’s my problem too

I struggled with the same issue. After I tightened the screw more it exposed more which allowed me to insert the clip. Hope this helps.
@@gingymartinez4552 I figured that out too shortly after my comment
I just put this on my FN reflex and it doesn't fit it's loose.
What size is the e clip? I accidentally threw mine away while installing the light the other day… I know my local hardware store has e clips
very helpful thanks for the video!
Are you suppose to use Loctite at all for this installation? Will the clip alone be enough to keep it from flying off?

@com34x thanks, good to know there's a back up solution

I have the TLR8A I cant get it sight in!

Those e-clips are garbage. I lost them just carrying daily.
Fist step: loose all E clips right away.
Never thought I’d be defeated by an e clip but here I am
Been there, too. Put it on a tray or something to contain them a bit before they hit the floor.

Eclip is horseshit
The e-clip makes this a poor choice. I wouldn't buy this.
