Erza scarlet is one of my favourite female characters from anime. She can destroy buildings with ease and her backstory is tragic.
Even though anime sexualises female and male characters but that isn’t a representative of the whole of anime, just look at Attack on Titan, Fullmetal alchemist, ECT.
It sucks, because there's this whole other realm of interesting storytelling they're categorically dismissing because it's "misogynistic" or what have you. For example, Junko Enoshima (from the Danganronpa franchise) is one of the best female villains I've ever seen due to her utter insanity, and I wouldn't be nearly as much of a fan of the franchise were she not in it.
Most of what Japan does isn’t sexist, just presenting women as being different to men.

Look, I don't care how you feel that franchise on a personal, looking to media for role models is a bad idea because it stifles creativity. I go to DOA, KOF, Tekken, Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and various other fighting games/beat 'em ups to play the video game equivalent of a martial arts blockbuster, not philosophize on the impact those series have on someone's self esteem. I mean, if your own self esteem is that badly affected by cartoon titties, then you have some deep seated issues. It's not society's obligation to play the part of therapist or bend over backwards to appease your sensibilities. Nor should it be. This line of thinking reminds me of all the boomers who complained about Miley Cyrus doing explicit music videos over the logic of "you're supposed to be a role model for our daughters!!11!1!!!1!!" despite the fact that most child stars do cringe-inducing shit to prove that they're not kids anymore. It's almost like relying heavily on media and celebrities to do the heavy-lifting in providing a role model for your kids is an inherently bad idea.

I've been talking to multiple friends about this EXACT thing for years now, many of them have noticed the decline in pop culture, of games, movies, and entertainment and lament at the symptoms saying "man, i wish they would have made star wars better." "dude ghost busters was just so disappointing." "borderlands 3's story...wasn't really good." "who lets these game/movie devs into these positions"
but only very few of them are willing to make that logic jump to Cultural Marxism, they ALWAYS cop out with "it's just corporations." or "it's not like that it's just one bad story/studio"
it's so frustrating to see the connecting thread and see the constant preaching and trying to point it out to people only to be shot down because people only see 1 inch of the tapestry being made. I try to unravel it by saying the questions like "isn't it weird how whenever a movie is remade they seem to want to focus more on diversity instead of making it good?", but as soon as I start showing them a hint of the whole thing they back off because "they don't wanna get political."

This reminds me of my own experience with Literature and Psychology. At first, I really wanted to get an English degree. But then I decided against it because the whole field had become too political. I once met a girl who was getting her PhD in English, and her thesis was about American Slavery- with absolutely no reference to anything literary whatsoever! Psychology already had those elements to it as well, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad, and that's what I got my Bachelor's in. As time went on, I noticed that it became over run by all these ideas about race and privilege and power and such. I got a work email not too long ago about treatment guidelines for males written by the American Psychological Association. For one, the guidelines mentioned that making treatment guidelines for males was considered controversial, despite the fact that they had done it for many other groups. And one of the main points was that psychotherapy should be focused on trying to convince their male patients that they are privileged. Ugh.
I hope to god you're kidding. If they're trying to convince male patients that they're privileged, and downplay their mental health issues with that, then that's not therapy. That's brainwashing.

I know it's cliché to bring up _1984_ on topics like this, but that whole part about demoralization really reminded me of the tactics used by INGSOC during the "Room 101" segment of the book. The way they slowly but surely broke Winston down mentally and rebuilt him by using his own mind against him (i.e. destroying his hope in a future revolution by the proles, revealing that his lover had turned on him under torture, etc.) seems very reminiscent of what you were talking about. That's how these people get you; they take the things you love, the things you believe in or that inspire you, and they twist them and use them as weapons against you. They make you hate the things you love until you hate yourself, and are finally willing to surrender. It's one of the most effective forms of manipulation.
At this point I think 1984 should be required reading, people need to become aware of this kind of crap.
Ain't that the truth! If you had told my 10-year-old self that I'd come to hate Marvel comics, Star Wars, Looney Tunes, and Ghostbusters, I'd never have believed you.
I can still remember, vividly, the first time I ever saw a Star Wars movie. I was 3-4 years old at the time, and I remember my dad, who was a huge nerd himself, describing it to me with this almost unbridled enthusiasm. Between that, and his description, it sounded so awesome and fantastical that I just had to see it. I can still remember how hyped I was when the opening kicked in for A New Hope, and the impression it left on me when the movie was over. And I can vividly recall asking my dad if there was more, and being overjoyed that there, in fact, were two more movies. And, I remember that we had the whole trilogy on VHS, complete with old, 90s-era Sci-Fi Channel commercials (some even featured a guest appearance by Gary Gygax, who I learned about through my dad).
The point that I'm framing with that autobiographical aside, there, is that those things. Those movies, and shows, and videogames. They were oh-so dear to me, back then. I could not, then, ever conceive of them being bad, or me not liking them, or not wanting to watch them. That was simply not possible.
But now? Now, I look out, and I'm just counting the days before some rainbow-haired landwhale, skulking soyboi, or militant black asshole sees fit to take the reigns of whatever's left of my hobbies and interests, and run it straight into the ground in the name of spreading their braindead, commie gospel. It is truly a depressing sight, but I hold out hope, as I hope you all do, that things will get better. If we need to gatekeep, then we'll keep gates. If we need to fight, we'll fight. But, things will get better.

The fact that the Yuri video was taken down tells you that RUclips and Google was in on this crap.
Since Ghostbusters 2016 made it clear the first two Ghostbuster films never happened in that version, including casting the actors from those two films in parts which were entirely different from the charachters they had played, I have no idea how you could include a continuity from the 2016 film with the upcoming third film, which is intended to bring back fans of the original film, that were driven off by Paul Feig's take on Ghostbusters, unless you have parallel dimensions, which would make the film more complex then it would need to be. .
To resist this demoralization, I have taken the view of Meville's Bartleby and his legendary dictum: "I would prefer not to." I shall do as I please, following a straight and narrow path, not allowing the dregs of existence to drag me down to their own miserable level.
Don't follow the crowds into self-imposed misery. Turn off the news, get off Twitter, brew a cup of tea, open a book, take a deep breath, and be at peace.

I stopped reading it years ago as I started to focus on my academic career and the S.C.P. website was too addictive to read, I've heard several people say that they have been taking a lot of existing concepts and changing very little and that more "meme S.C.P.'s" (as in based on internet memes and not S.C.P.'s with memetic properties) have been popping up for years. Let's just hope that they won't retroactively change existing articles.

Another good name for this phenomenon might be "Creative Gentrification" or something along those lines.
I've seen the phenomenon of gentrification in person and can draw a lot of parallels, a bunch of people get together and make a community with a rich and unique culture, that unique culture gets noticed by a bunch of yuppies, the yuppies start buying up property in that area, then the resulting inflation of property value slowly rots away the original cultural staples and replaces it with Starbucks, high rise apartments, and monocultured whiny city slickers.
The whole "new normal" idea is actually pointed out in the Declaration of Independence here in the US:
"...all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
I just hope that what came after the Declaration isn't needed anytime soon. We're not there yet but it pains me to think that I might see the day when we are.

This could me you confront your boss or co-worker at work and you get fired, but then you get a better job later on and you are stronger for it or something down that line.

9:29 the thing i find LAUGHABLY disingenuous about this graphic is how poor the choices are for the three "role models" Druckman picked. On the left you have Quiet, a ONE OFF for the franchise. And really only one of the blatantly sexy characters (nothing wrong with being sexy/desirable btw) within the games near 40 year life span as a franchise. MGS4 had 4 super-models in skin tight suits that covered them from head to toe, nobody gave a fuck nor gives a fuck today about them. To call Quiet a "role model" is reaching at its hardest. Its trying to make the argument for yourself through some of the modest misleading framing imaginable.
In the middle of said graphic you have Cortana. A Cortana that didn't even look overtly feminine until the 4th or 5th game, and STILL only then a one off so far for the design. Her character is Iconic to say the least but even then to call her a role model...? Who the fuck she supposed to be role modeling for exactly? Shes a super computer AI taking a female form, she quite literally has NO biological sex and it'd be a stretch to say she even has a gender to identify with, as she was created through a process of 1s and 0s. Her will isn't 100% her own. Does she even contain the agency to make a decision to identify as a woman? Does she even give a flying fuck? Should we? Most down to earth people weren't losing nights of sleep over these questions all those decades ago when Halo first burst onto the scene, so I'm gonna have to say no.
On the final side of the graphic do i even need to go that deep into how smooth brain Druckman's final pick is? To say DOA is a NICHE is honestly not doing much to drive home the significance of the meaning of the term. DOA's accompanying Volleyball spin off is a niche of a niche. Anyone who has been big into fighting games knows that the genre has paled in comparison to others in the industry. Only real world wide appeal i see in fighting games is the SF Franchise, and in a distant 2nd maybe Tekken??? Everything else is seen as either derivative or a knock-off and barely make headway into the myriad of FGC cliques let alone the mainstream. Now knowing what i just told you, what Druckman is doing with his pick, is taking a character from SAID derivative game in SAID niche genre and making that the supposed role model in all of gaming!!??? Congratulations top-knot, you've managed to find the one problem child in all of gaming by going the route of taking a niche of the niche and making it the big deal to necessitate your pea brained arguments ....bra-fucking-vo, your IQ must be very high!
When I think of Females in gaming that have actual star-power and legacy to even begin approaching the term role model, i think more of characters like Samus Aran (a strong, brave, and courageous warrior), Princess Peach (a modest, reserved and polite young woman), and Zelda (a wise, and noble leader to her people). But ole Druck-o-boy doesnt have a leg to stand on for his arguments if he does something stupid like pick actual female icons in gaming as "role models". SMH
Samus, Zelda, and Peach are all much more significant characters than his cherry-picks, too.
Cortana was technically created from a scan of a woman's brain, so I guess you could say she's female, the games refer to her as such.
As for Cortana being a role model, she's intelligent, creative, driven, and resourceful. She's certainly not sexualised beyond having a female model that doesn't wear anything. (because she's an ai, so why would she waste processing power on something so irrelevant)
I get the feeling that Druckman just picked a few sexy females out of a line up and slapped them on his PowerPoint without any thought.

Halo had better female role models than any other Scifi (which are usually known for portraying a progressive vision of the future). Showing humanity in all its diversity united to fight an existential threat is peak equality, it makes me wish real aliens would show up honestly.
