"Don't underestimate what steady action will do."
That statement changed my whole life going forward. Wow...🎉
So this is off topic. But after watching you for years I finally decided to get a reversal of my tubal litigation. Im 36 now. My husband was very disappointed in me for getting the procedure done in the first place, as he wanted a large family. What I need is prayers, the expense, and my age are against me. We will be persuing every avenue to expand our family but I miss pregnancy and the newborn stage. Just pray that Gods will and perfect timing is on this desire of my heart. And that we will be able to get the procedure done and our family can expand.
That's brave. I'll pray for you. I have five and let God play into the decision for my family. ❤️ Best wishes.
Prayers for you! I have four children, all of whom, were born after 35. You've got this!
I had a tubal reversal when I was 39 . We had a baby girl when I was 41. I'm 63 now and she is 22 and happily married and expecting her first baby in April 2025 .
@dianewells4342 that's amazing. I bet your looking forward to seeing her with her own baby.
@melissasharp5500 thank you, we have 3 now. They kept asking for more siblings. I'm hoping we can have many more.
“Do the next thing” was Elizabeth Elliott’s motto and got her through really tough times. It has helped me also.
I love, love, love this advice.❤️
So true. I'm the odd one in my circle because we don't really do any activities aside from co op. No sports, no lessons. On one hand we just don't have the funds for extra things, but on the other hand, it allows for me to make our food from scratch and keep my small home in order. It also keeps us from being busy which I think is a blessing :)
Not having much money I believe makes a happier home because you use your imagination to create and have fun and have time to give real love to your kids/ family. ❤
Same with us!!
You are giving your children the gift of time as you don't fill their schedules with multiple activities. Good for you!
We did one activity per child, I had two kids. That was basically 4 activities per week though if you count practice and the actual activity. It was a lot! I can’t imagine if you have more kids. I’m a teacher so I asked my middle school students if they have a day off from activities, other than school, maybe one student out of 28 had one day off a week. Most of them said they are stressed and feel like they are running on a treadmill 😢
That’s me %1000
Even if you feel like you’ve made a million videos on these topics, this one still encouraged me! Especially about not over systematizing and always about simplifying!
as I sit here watching during my morning cuppa: "don't underestimate what steady action can do"....perfect!!
I know it’s cliche but I really appreciate this more “real” side it things. You’ve always been open but the content seems more personal lately
Thank you for this encouragement today, Lisa. Pregnant with #7 homeschooling mama and the overwhelm is real. When I feel overwhelmed my tendency is just to stop and sit defeated. But I will try to remember what you said… “keep moving!” ❤
Congratulations and yes just keep going forward but that doesn't mean not taking a break if you need it.
Friends, a day will come when your house stays clean, meals are smaller and the quiet is constant.
So are you saying to enjoy the time when the kids are little? And it is okay if the house isn't always in order? ❤
@@AC-pu9rbabsolutely. There are days when I really miss the kids, noise and the fun.
I’m 68 and still have a busy house. I help take care of grandkids, still garden and can, and now have a husband with dementia. I would love to go back to having little kids and their messes. My current life is terribly stressful.
And that's a beautiful thing. The stress of teenagers and young adults living their lives and making sometimes questionable decisions in full view of me was not a joyous experience for me. I was very happy when they launched. No empty nest syndrome whatsoever.
In case you're wondering, they turned out to be awesome adults. They and their partners and our two grandbabies are the light of our lives.
I’ve been keeping house for 30 years. I’m pretty good at it. This year brought so many changes. My husband took a medical retirement, I have an autoimmune disease that requires all food to be cooked at home, I am working 2 jobs and going to school. This has felt as chaotic and energy requiring as preschoolers were. Prioritizing saved my sanity. I care more about the garden than I do dusting twice a week. I care that my food is nourishing and organic more than I want the convenience of a meal out and the probable medical bills after. I am doing the important. It just looks funky sometimes.
Amen! Amen! Amen! Lol. This is how I have learnt to role as well. I too start my mornings off slow with a coffee and watching my littles play. No guilt, because once my feet hit the floor it's "Go time!" As a mom of 10, my breaks consist of potty time! Lol. Love, love my children, but so thankful for the quiet in the evenings once our littles are asleep! Time to recoup and spend time with my husband. ❤
You make everything look so easy and seamless/smooth. Never a hesitation in your work. You just effortlessly glide from task to task. Thank you for your example.
If it overwhelms you, know it will end; if it seems as if you have forever, know it will be gone in the blink of an eye 🧡
My family has been my joy and taking care of them full time for 36 years. Still love being home❤
Home is definitely my favorite place! ❤
Absolutely love this...the Father had been speaking to me so much lately about the important role I have in taking care of and serving my family. I was trying to start a small holistic business last year, and it just kept having doors close, and I know that's because my role now is to keep learning healthy habits that I can then teach my children and they will pass that onto their children. When I think of it that way, I'm impacting generations
Simplify, Prioritize, Keep Moving.
I love having little ones standing on chairs helping me bake. It’s one of my favorite times together. ❤
I use to do a lot of the things you do, & enjoy it!! I loved to cook & bake, but only had a crock pot for the past 20 years!! I’m 85 yrs old & it is relaxing to watch your video’s!!👏👏🥰
Thank you so much for watching!
@@blanchemoore5489 I just bought a Dutch oven to do Lisa's sourdough
Yesterday was that overwhelming day for me. My 2 messy teenagers, teenager's boyfriend, messy 4 year old, messy husband + a cat and dog in an 1800 sq house = lots of smells and mess accumulated quickly. Yesterday was a deep clean day and I added putting a top coat on my dining table, landscaping to rid downed trees in our back yard, still making all the meals, less work space in my kitchen and my sister in law, brother in law and their friend (and separately) my daughter's friend paid a surprise visit when my home was in a state of complete disarray lol. On a normal day a surprise visit would've been fine because I work 13 to 15 hours a day at home to maintain etc 😅 . Some days I have to consistently remind myself that it's only a busy season of life and will be missed when it's gone
It’s the mental excitement of other projects that set me back. I’m in a season of planning and dreaming. It’s hard to just shut off my brain and focus on cleaning when I want to spend the whole day on the project I’m excited about. Which is why yesterday when I manic cleaned because my house was just out of control I was so stressed because I couldn’t believe I let it get like that. Hard for me right now to find balance.
Always appreciate it when you share the wisdom of your lived experience Lisa. Knowing that you can manage your home (and knowing how you go about it) in and amongst homeschooling, homesteading and running a business is always so encouraging. Thank you.
I love that term. “Steady action” I’ve noticed that in my own home so very true.
We are in a real drought here in CT!!! Send the rain this way! You are a true inspiration!
I love thunderstorms, the smell and sound of rain showers! I love the boys helping you and that little finger that I thought would find it’s way into the pumpkin batter! 😆 great video Lisa!💓
This is so true. When my kids were in school they were involved into absolutely everything plus I worked outside the home. Ridiculous to put that much stress on yourself ❤
You truly inspire me to be a better homemaker and a better cook
Hi we used to volunteer in a local Baptist Hispanic church😊 The ladies would prepare corn and flour tortillas often for fellowship meals. They would heat them as you did😊 the only thing different was a tea towel. The tea towel would be over a laid over a small plate and then would be folded over the top to cover the stack of tortillas as they came off heat. I guess to keep them warm❤Sweet ladies and your cooking reminded me of them!!
Thanks for your work. It’s very important!!
What a sweet memory!
Love the message of this video and how you care for your home and family.
Life has slowed down a bit for me since our kids grew up. But tasks still need to be done, food cooked and errands run. It's all about prioritizing and fitting little tasks in when you can. ❤ your videos!
This was so encouraging and really hit home on so many points. I'm an older first time mom and homemaker and am learning a lot. I hope to make better processes and learn how to prioritize my time and mental energy.
Lisa thanks so much for mentioning about different capacities, because of things like personality. It’s better if we don’t compare ourselves to others, just run our own race, isn’t it? 🙂
That thing you said about steady action...It took me years to learn that. I love watching your vlogs. Thankyou
kiwico thank you Lisa for shareing this with me . I am sure we will have a lot of fun with this. Also thank you for being a good teacher in makeing the bread as well as great meals thank you please keep the video's coming.
You are welcome!
The rain was so calming… I too use my morning coffee time to charge my mind and get what I need to do for the day …. Loved your little boy trying to get a finger in the batter !!!!!!!!
I am always blessed by your beautiful spirit when I watch your blogs.
Thank you so much for watching!
So true. I have been in a laundry stick and having one more baby has just added that much more laundry.
I'm currently doing this for my fall cleaning. Simplifying first and getting rid of things that no longer serve us. Unfortunately it's been a few years but absolutely better late than never.
😊 Your husband is a lucky man ! U are an awesome multitasker !! 💟🤠
Imperfect steady action is really resonating with me. I'm pregnant with my first and I've really been struggling with the physical limitations I have now. It's always helpful to have the reminder to be imperfect.
Congratulations!
Love this! I have had to adjust our homeschool schedule recently to accommodate other priorities. And it has removed a load of stress and allowed me extra time to do activities with the kids that I feel we need as a family and their education. Now their are still goals that I want to prioritize that I haven't brought to fruition yet, but it is like you say fine tuning and finding the systems that work for you!
Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder. As always really enjoy your videos! So cute to see your kids help in the kitchen, wish my kids had that desire. Thanks for topping off my evening!
Thank you for this encouraging video. On a side note, I noticed that your mixer arm screw needs adjusting, then it won't bounce so much.
I'm not a parent but this still resonated with me. Blessings to you.
I needed this video today. Feeling so overwhelmed!
♥️ same. I had to cut all non essentials.
The sound of the rain was relaxing! Your food looks delicious! God bless y’all! 😀❤️🙏🏻
Please send some rain to Texas too! Our drought is so bad this year that we are about to start the 3rd phase of rationing in the city.i needed some inspiration today, as we just had to euthanize one of our beloved cats. I thank you for being a source of encouragement and motivation. Plus, now i need to try your new recipe.
What I found when we hoesteaded for over 20 years was that we created an amazing garden on our 5 -acres but eventually we found ourselves working 24/7 to maintain it. Then when my husband Was diagnosed with cognitive decline and we moved we sadly left it all behind.
I'm so sorry to hear that.
So grateful for this timely encouragement-“steady, imperfect movement”!
Appreciate your advice from experience. I sometimes feel overwhelmed, and seeing how others manage it is helpful. Thank you.
I've just seen that Sara Jo included you in her new calendar. The work of art is just beautiful
Same weather here in europe a lot of rain a lot of work for a stay home mom who feels overhelmed too but life is going on and I keep mooving too 😏😉👍🙏💪😘
I feel like I could say every video is amazing and you are so wise and talented but I just wanted to say that it was nice seeing where you put some clothes to dry. (I’m assuming they were wet). Thanks for sharing even the smallest task. ☺️
Just keep moving. That’s a good idea. Val C ❤🙏
I love the rain. ❤❤❤
A couple of recipe ideas that I searched for on your site cans didn’t find: sourdough pumpkin pancakes (with no flour or as close to the regular sourdough as possible-I made my own up and they turned out good!- had to add some almond flour), and also sourdough ebelskivers (danish pancake). Grew up eating these as an occasional treat and recently tried to find a sourdough recipe and they turned out good. You’re always my go-to site for anything sourdough so thought I’d mention a few missing;)
Sounds good...thank you!
I totally agree with you....one foot in front of the other will keep you moving in the right direction and keep you fairly current with all your tasks. Steady, imperfect actions - perfect descriptor of my days.
This was exactly what I needed today. ❤️
Hi Lisa - I've been finding inspiration from your channel for about a year now and I wanted to let you know how much of an inspiration you've been on my life. I've decluttered and simplified sooo many things in my home. I've re-learned to love being in the kitchen and taking care of my home, now that I have routines/systems in place. I hosted Thanksgiving with my parents and my brother and I used the turkey bones to make broth and now I'm hooked! I used some of it to make a delicious gravy to go with our potatoes and I've been using the rest to make lots of delicious soups this week. Lots of love from small town WI
That’s amazing! So glad you’ve found the routines and systems that work for you!
"Steady, imperfect action" like it lisa my favorite "just chipping away"
I really enjoyed this shorter video! I love all your videos, but as a (sometimes overwhelmed) busy mama of 3, lengthier videos just don’t fit into my days!
I appreciate this message so much. Im nearing my 2nd trimester with my 3rd baby, with a 3yr okd and 4 yr old in tow. I have had to give myself an abundance of grace this past 2 months because I simply don't have the energy to get everything done. If I get an energy boost soon I'd like to refine my own systems and see if that helps ❤
Congratulations on number 3!
Your videos are so peaceful! I just love them. Needed this reminder, just keep moving ❤️
Thank you for sharing about your family and your systems SO MUCH! I love how you strive for simplicity and actually dive into your thinking behind it all. You truly are such a blessing to us newer homemakers.
Thank you so much!
Perfect timing because I am feeling so overwhelmed lately. I have 3 kids. Freshly 4 down to 1yo. Homeschooling plus house chores plus just basic daily needs of the kids plus time for each of them and my husband! HOWWW
Maybe cut out the homeschooling for the 4 year old? That’s really young to be schooling. Playing with play doh, helping mom cook and bake and going to the library is plenty of schooling for that age.
Be easy on yourself.....teaching your four year old can be very easy....teach them to make their bed, pick up after themselves, how to follow a routine (get up, get dressed, brush teeth) how to help with laundry or other easy tasks. Read them lots of books and provide lots of outside, imaginative play time....go on nature walks, learn to paint and color or whatever else interests them. It can easily be incorporated into your daily life...simplify (less things) makes it easier to clean and organize. Have a well stocked pantry...sheet pan meals....take good physical care of yourself....you can pick and choose which of this may help you.
This is really beautiful and helpful advice. I really appreciate how you specify that everyone's season is different.
Thanks for watching!
Rainy days are perfect for staying in and just enjoying some simple enjoyable things. Food looked really good!!!!
Oh i saw " eskista " on kiwico which is my country (ethiopia) cultural dance ! I appreciate ❤
I love that little finger trying to get a taste
Thank you so much for this video! I feel like I can forgive myself for not getting everything done. There’s a lot to do and a lot of hats to wear.
I hope that you feel a little more relaxed after watching this video!
Hi Lisa. Love your videos, I especially enjoy are the “what we eat in the week” videos
I know part of my problem is my phone. I pick it up when I’m overwhelmed, when I’m stressed, when I need a break. And in actuality it doesn’t help me relax, or fix the overwhelm.
You are not alone! What are you doing to fight this? I am trying to limit it to certain times and even days but it's hard to even have the will to leave it aside when I feel that way.
Hi Lisa. I noticed your videos have gotten a lot shorter than the use to be. Just curious. Love your content. You and Luke are great and I love that you include the kids and Luke in your videos. I look forward to them each week.
My girls and I enjoy your channel very much! Keep up the nice work. May I ask how you manage to look so well and fit after 8 kids? I'm 41 and have 11 children, but metabolism really does slow down as we age. However, I'm not one to believe that we should accept that middle age means out-of-shape. Any suggestions on what helps you stay on top of these things?
I don't have anything special to offer....I am naturally high energy and like to keep moving. I drink a kefir smoothie for breakfast and a coffee or matcha with collagen and of course the rest of the home cooked meals you see here...always with a side of a ferment like sauerkraut
@@FarmhouseonBoone Thank you for replying. I'll try that!
hey girl- great tips and advice!😁 and yummy food😋 Y'all have a blessed week🥰
Simply love your channel! I was feeling overwhelmed today and got to watch this video while the kids were at school and napping
Thank you so much for watching!
Your cooking helper was precious.
Loved it 😊 the boys helping you make something in the kitchen was precious 💞 As a single daughter living with my father, I do have certain methods to my madness in terms of chores and errands especially groceries and laundry.
My grand daughter gets the KiwiCo boxes. She loves them. 💞 Thank you for taking us along with you. 😊
Love this. One of my boys does soccer, so that's about all I can handle. Otherwise I'm very good at saying No to any other commitments. I would love for my kids to take swim, but not sure I could handle the extra commitment outside of the house.
You are an inspiration Lisa!
Hey, my name is Emily. I know this might be rude. But I am a longtime follower of yours. I know that you collaborated with someone named Paige. And I know that she is no longer on RUclips. I don’t have a lot of social media so I have no other way of checking on her. I love your videos and I have always loved hers as well. If you have any way of contacting her. Let her know that some people still think of herand want to know of her well-being. Thank you so much. You are a beautiful soul and a good friend I know to people like her. Your fan Emily.
She decided to keep her life private and remove herself from RUclips. I miss her, too.
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed Paige's channel. I do understand and respect her choice to stop RUclips, but I miss her, too:)
Hi Lisa! I noticed you have slimmed down quite a bit and look really vibrant. Your face looks much more youthful too. Can you share what you’re regiment is? I know you spoke about working out in a past video and how you don’t typically but you were in a routine years ago and thought about starting again. Thank tou’
It’s amazing to see how much you get done!
You and your sister are so amazing! I always feel so much more motivated when I watch your videos. Did you both grow up with a similar lifestyle and how ant siblings do you have?
I am one of four sisters. We grew up on an Elk Farm
We have been doing kiwi crates... But what do you do with the projects when they are done? We tend to hold on to them as some of us are sentimental... But then all the random pieces of projects end up all over the place... and space is limited. It would be nice if there was some type of recycling program...they are such nice kits...
I’ve just quit my job in preparation for our first baby in January, and I feel right now like I almost have too much time on my hands 😆 but I know that’ll change soon
Your time will definitely be full of good things!!
I just found you! Love how relaxed you are!! Would LOVE more details on laundry upkeep!!! I struggle more with it than anything else!!!
We throw in a load or two every day and I keep the youngest kids clothing in the laundry room in the baskets above the machine....I don't fold them just throw them in....
I love to learn from you about Kiefer and sourdough
Thank you for the motivation today! We are staying with family for the winter and its so hard when the space and stuff is not mine to declutter or organize, nothing has a home, we are just digging through totes to find our stuff. Its discouraging and hard on a stay at home mama.
There are always trade offs in life. Just think how grateful you will be to get back to your own space someday. Living with others has its challenges for sure! Keep your head up, it won’t be forever.
Delicious looking food so many tips on everything!! Thank you for sharing. You are so genuine love your content. God Bless your beautiful family!!! 😊
You’re looking trim! I always felt to good when my baby was 1, but now that my youngest of 9 is 5 I feel like I’ve been gaining weight- I sure miss nursing to lose weight. Your hair looks amazing too! I can’t remember what shampoo and conditioner you use- I think you had a ad a bit ago , but maybe it was a supplement you were taking too.
Your content is sooo valuable Lisa! I feel i'm your Canadian version 😆 Wish you lot of success ✨️
Thank you! 😊
Lisa you just gave the niche for knowing exactly what I need to hear!
Such agreat video with SUCH important advice. It's important to realize when a system needs to change. Sometimes we don't see it, but we feel it. I get the mental project one ALL the time. I have to limit myself with how much I let myself dream. I always have a project going, the next project I am currently planning and researching, and then the dream list. We can let it take over if we don't limit what we give time for our brains to think about. Finding the balance is key.
Thanks!
That sweet little hand, Ms. Lisa . T u
I really really needed this vlog today, thank u
We have had a drought with a month and a half of no rain and fires here in NJ so I wish that rain would come this way!!! It looks lovely.
Mmm I love making chocolate chip muffins. Yours look so good.
If something can't work, definitely say no! I have learned to say no to things and it is so helpful to my life.
I love that you say to "just keep doing and do the next thing." So good. :)
We had been in a drought and really needed the rain too..hope it heads your way.
I wish you could send some of that rain my way. We are in a drought and there are many wildfires.
I'm curious what you do with the kiwico projects after the kids finish them. We did kiwico for a couple years and it just piled up so much stuff. The kids put time and effort into their creations and didn't want to throw them away, but storing all of that was impossible. I appreciate that they're learning, but it just creates so much trash in the long run.
I wonder if she has a few tips for people who go to a 8-5 job and are homemakers. Well, I guess we are still homemakers, just not full time?
Each morning you unload dishes and throw one load of laundry on. When you get home from work throw that load in the dryer and fold. Load dishes after dinner and turn on dishwasher. Then take 15-20 minutes after work to do one house chore. Maybe vacuum, tidy up a bathroom or something and if you can have groceries delivered do so. Leaving each day to a job makes a huge difference. I work part time outside the home but have been the full time worker and homemaker and the stay at home mom. Each presents different challenges and methods to get it all done. 😊
You are still a full time homemaker, you just have way less time to keep the home! This was my mother for about 20 years. There’s not less to do, just less time to do it. I don’t have good advice, just wanted to validate the “full time” aspect of women who also work outside the home.
@@Mandadee2012 Thank you!
Great message and video. Is that a Kiwico Tractor? Love that your smalls start early in the kitchen❤
What do you do with all of the Kiwico stuff after they finish playing with it? We had one box subscription to share amongst six kids and after they finished playing they just piled up and pieces were lost, strewn about, and they just felt like a burden to me. Kiwico looks great, but I am nervous about piling up little pieces of toys…
So many moms feel the same way. At least you’re not alone. We only had 4 of our children, but we also had another child for quite a few years. Then in the girls, teen years, we had several of their friends for weeks on end. The state even placed one with us. I’m not Complaining, just stating our facts. You can consider how lucky you are to have healthy children, which I’m sure u do. This too shall pass.
