    When the 15’ came out subispeed was the first to release lighting upgrade bulbs through OLM. I haven’t done enough research to understand who OLM is as a company but it seems they work closely with subispeed. With that said, OLM bulbs got destroyed in like 4-6 months time - I eventually ponied up and got a real HID set from Morimoto/lightwerkz. Garbage ass OLM bulbs - a lot of close calls at nighttime!
    5 years later, Morimoto set still going strong. Lightwerkz will eventually do my diode c light install and paint the housing. I wasn’t thrilled about both the headlights/tails of subispeed at release cuz I feel like they’d probably using the same cheap ass components. To each his own and I’m GLAD you made this video for the people!!!

      What headlights the steering responsive headlights?

  • @Rebecca-713
    @Rebecca-713 4 года назад +6

    I have the v2 Subispeed headlights on my ‘16 wrx. Luckily (and knock on wood) they’re still going strong after nearly 2 years. The stock ‘16 premium wrx headlights are garbage, so a change was needed. And yeah, they subispeed ones are a little busy and have a “sharp” edge, but I still dig ‘em.
    Now the subispeed v1 tail lights were another story. The leds crapped out on me after 14 months; conveniently 2 months after warranty ended, and subispeed wouldn’t honor it. After that experience, I intentionally avoid purchasing from subispeed. I for sure will never order lights from them again, ever. Much better subie after market scene providers with way better customer service. I now rock my oem tails with some premium auto styling tint 👌

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  4 года назад +1

      Right, they look decent, but the price didn't justify the overall performance. You could do an absolutely killer custom setup that performs worlds better with the same amount of money.
      Agree. Most are just basic projectors and throw a few gimmicky LED's in there and call it a day. I want someone to come out with something legit. I would be 100% on board.

      @@phiL_2022 it's a standard feature on the 18+s STis and WRX Limited. I'm sure they'll fit on a 15-17 because I've seen an 18 STi with a 15-17 front bumper.

    Did you think about going with Fox beam? They are cheaper than Curcuit demon.

  • @mpv314
    @mpv314 4 года назад +1

    The SubiSpeed headlights are the same manufacturer as Morimoto lights. The first batch of the V1's had terrible condensation issues due to poor ventilation, that's what I had and fortunately SubiMods was willing to refund me 100%. I followed by buying another set from SubiSpeed (euro version, revised "V1" style with new ventilation system) and the high beam flap on one headlight got stuck. SubiSpeed offered the same customer service quality and replaced my headlights.
    No problems since, gives the car aggressive styling in my opinion, the output is way better than stock but I still wouldn't sell my stock headlights in case these go down for whatever reason. Ventilation is not something to worry about anymore. Quality is good according to The RetroFit Source and Circuit Demon is who told me about the manufacturer being the same as Morimoto. To each their own though!

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  4 года назад +2

      Going from the stock wrx halogen lights to these would be a big jump in performance sure. I just wasn't a fan of the cutoff pattern as the distance wasn't there. they were very wide, but offered little to no color at the cutoff. OEM Subaru LED to these wasn't worth the cost, IMHO. Just didn't see the the value and how little of a change it was.
      At $900+ you could do a complete custom retro with some of the best projectors on the market that offer real cutoff and color that will outperform these by miles.
      While the performance wasn't the main factor as to why I sold them, the overall design of the actual light left a lot to me imagined. The bulged looks ridiculous in person. As I mentioned, you hardly see anyone taking other angles of these lights on their cars other than from the front as that is the only angle they look ok.
