This sketch was hilarious. The writers for this show were great. Top notch acting. The Judge allergic to chickens was so funny. Dick Van Dyke was one of a kind as was Mary Tyler Moore.
I always think of the salesman as Mr. Kimble on Green Acres and the wife as Ms. Rosemary who was sweet on Barney before Thelma Lou! Gotta love Classic TV and all the stock cast that would show up on different shows!!!!
that's ed begley (sr) playing the judge. he had a long acting career, mainly on tv, but he was in 3 very good movies. he played the bigot in "12 angry men" (1957), he was in the film noir classic "sorry, wrong number" (1948) starring barbara stanwyck and in the comedy "sitting pretty" (also 1948) srarring robert young, maureen o'hara and clifton webb as mr. belvedere. the dick van show had some great recurring guest stars. among them alvy moore, the pillow salesman here. who went on to play one of my favorite tv characters hank kimble on "green acres."
I think every single judge that ever appeared on a sitcom has acted like they'd rather be doing anything else on the earth than what they're doing at the moment! 😆
I ❤ LOVE this show so much! I was born in 1963 came across this program in later years via METV OR TV LAND. Carl Reiner (Genius) 🕯️🕊️🌹THANK YOU for creating and casting the GREATEST ACTORS for the show. I never get tired of watching repeats. CLASSIC TV! 🇺🇸
You can get a "My Pillow" for $29.99 now.. I do like feather pillows but the feathers eventually come through the edges. Never smelled anything like chicken or duck odor 😅.
Only Dick Van Dyke can say "Cheap chopped chicken feathers!" and make it sound like armed robbery. As almost always this show was based on a real experience of the writers. A subtle example of the quality of the writing: Amzie Strickland wonderful as always as the down-beaten wife wins our affection and pity! The writers have Laura buy ANOTHER bargain from the couple which makes us feel better in the end than if they just beat this rather low-functioning couple in court.
I think it's ridiculous how in the early days of television they were not allowed to show a married couple in bed together. I don't understand the logic/reason for it, married couples have been sleeping in the same bed together since the dawn of time there's nothing inappropriate of unnatural about it, plus you're not going to be showing them having sex.
That's the funny thing of the episode. He's trying to act as lawyers do in High and Supreme Courts while dealing with high-level cases, even though he's just in a consumer court dealing with a case of pillows with a judge trying to get the case over.
What exquisite acting by everyone in this episode!!! 👏😊
“It’s television: you think you’re a lawyer, I think I’m a doctor” 😂

Never throw away the old pillows before breaking in the new ones.
Yes they might be made of CHEAP CHOPPED CHICKEN FEATHERS!

Sam the butcher was one the actors that appeared in multiple roles on this show as well as Andy Griffith
❤😂

That judge is such a mood 😂😂

Well said!!! 🎉💝
$80 for 4 pillows in 1964?! Thats around $194 per pillow in today's money!
Good point! Sheesh I wouldn't even pay that now! 😄

@@susannaCdonovan23one of the worst pillows you can buy. That are trash pillows.
I thought I'd seen them all, but never had seen this episode.

The wife was Rose Mary on Andy Griffith show.
@@oldblackstock2499 Yes! ("There it is" -the crack on the ceiling 😆)
I felt so sorry for the Judge throughout the entire episode
OMG! The "MY PILLOW GUY", lol
Ed Begley Sr!
CHeap CHopped CHicken feathers!
Eider down, eh?
Well, it's _eider_ from ducks or chickens... Chickens in this case. 😂
Nice episode
Poor Judge !
I did. She said, “We’re thinking about a hat for the future:”

You couldn't show pregnant women either or say "pregnant"
Besides, a single bed is quite enough room to.... make a baby.
POOR JUDGE lol
If you drop something it’s hard to retrieve It.

I blame Mike Linde!l!
😂
Very weak episode. Surprised that was a Persky/Denoff script! But fun to see Ed Begley (senior) as the judge.
I liked it!
Disagree...enjoyed it!
The loose feathers was overdoing it.
Sorry I disagree, I think it was really good
I disagree. Great episode!! The price of the pillows was over the top, though.
rob is so annoying. it takes him a half hour to say something that would take a normal person 30 seconds. he LOVES to hear himself babble.
That's why it is a half hour show
@@timrain you're probably right. i never thought of that. hahaha.
Yes, that was annoying.
