This episode always reminds me of being a 9 year old child and going to work with my Dad. I found the biggest diamond ever. I wrapped it up and gave it to my Mom for Christmas. She thanked me for it. My Dad was a Construction Superintendent. He was putting up an addition to a glass factory.
Condensed Version: Many years ago, I did a kindness or two for an elderly blind gentleman who had befriended an eight-year-old me. When he passed away, he left me his entire collection of coins. Sadly, my father pocketed the collection; but I still have the memory of a wonderful old gentleman.
@@gregh7400 Since your father was a 'prick,' then he was my father's devoted protege... his title was: His Imperial Assholiness, king of child-beaters and thieves. All sarcasm aside, I can't believe I gave him as much respect as I did. It seems we only wise up after they are gone. Now that they are in heaven, hell, purgatory, or wherever, I hope they realize just how horrendous their actions were. One thing I learned from my father; was how *NOT* to treat my children. Take care, Greg.

I remember this one very well, a favorite from long ago! Thought about what it would be like in Rob's position. Very happy to have all those old coins. And the awesome photo of Lincoln with Rob's baby Hezekiah relative and father! Pleased that the writers kept Rob's and Laura's good characters truly unselfish by donating that valuable photo to a museum for all to see and for safekeeping! Thanks and blessings for sharing this gem! 🙏👏👍👍♥️
Nov 21 2024. This is one of my faves. In three weeks on Dec 13 DVD will be 99 God willing. He’s still sctive too which is remarkable. I remember these shows when they were originally broadcast but didn’t see many and appreciate them much more now as I was too young to really appreciate the humour. That was an exciting time to be alive with the space race and the Beatles etc. It was a time when people still were fascinated with the future. We live there now but still no flying cars.
Uncle Hezekiah cousin was pretty dumb because $65k worth of property (which in the 60's, $65,000 was like having $650,000 today) and the other relative the 50k glasses. So even though he left Robert his "Most prized possessions" but he actually left a lot of opportunities for the other family members to invest and get rich themselves if they used the money and properties wisely.
The thing that is stunning is how they are all so careless. It's not good for people to finger the coins and the photograph and beining it by taking it out of the frame. Total indifference to these treasures. If anyone left me something, I would still have them and they would be worth a whole lot more because I would care about them and place the coins in air tight capsules as well as seal the important original photo
Rob said "He sang 'Me and My Shadow.' Why?" Sally said "Maybe he left you Ted Lewis." That was funny! 😁. In the 1940s, Ted Lewis and his Orchestra were very famous. "Me and My Shadow" was a song that he sang then. I watched him in an Abbott and Costello movie on my dvd.

And your mom's profession? Saint.
Kinda nice that since he's basically as old as Hezekiah now, he's still just as silly and a big kid as ever❤❤
Dick plays old men so well, in the first Mary Poppins, the second Mary Poppins and this. He's 97 now and doesn't look a thing like it!
Adrenochrome
@@capitalisa I doubt that!

He should never have done that. Bad juju. You don't mess with what the dead bestowed. Sorry, he was not a good person.
@Sara N It's TV show. Not real.

That Laura thought the doorknob was a diamond was awfully cute ! 😆
Did you see the part where she walks in on Rob while he is "dusting" the lamp?
Aunt Clara from bewitched would love it 💕 she collected them on the show and in real life too I love 💕Aunt Clara

What a lovely comment!
That desk and everything in it would be worth so much today..
Just like the man said.
Is he on the plain?
No the plane left he is on the bus….
That always made me laugh out loud
So many laughs in this eppy. From the lawyers office to the guesses
One of my favorites ....
The picture of Uncle Hezzy as a baby in the frame would be worth something. Desk is also and antique.

That song stayed in my head since the 60s!😅
I still can't get over his old man voice 😂😂😂
The attorney : Lets get this over as quick as possible. These are never pleasant, and my wife has a roast in the oven.
2023 Dick van Dyke looks like Uncle Hezekiah now.
Better! :)
Now DVD is almost as old as Uncle Ezekiah
@ Mark Cadieux *Hezekiah 🙂

love this show
Pretty funny that Hezekiah was 100 and now Dick van Dyke is almost 100 years old too.
Speaking of Lincoln, Mary Tyler Moore played Mary Todd Lincoln in a TV mini series decades ago!
Pickles never comes over with buddy.
Rarely, anyway.
@Diane. I watched more than one episode where Pickles came over. She was taller than Buddy.
She's been a number of episodes. Her real name is Fiona.
Two actresses portrayed the character of Pickles, which wasn't a regular.
These are old coins, you need an oldmismatist!
The real raymond massey who played abe lincoln even on nbc! They never needed telemundo back then! His son in law was actor jeremy brett!
Ironic that several of the actors in this episode were also in a few Andy Griffith episodes.
Back then,,Mary Tyler Moore was a very pretty Lady,,,,
Is that Ed Asner playing one of the relatives? I didn't even notice until I heard him say "Booze."
No, that’s character actor, Herb Vigran. He was in lots of old sitcoms. He does resemble Asner.
Not Ed Asner.

I would have sold the picture for money
How could Rob tell Lincoln was standing on a stair
21;46 does rob say god damn it??
No. He says “The other guy. Holy cow!”
Yep, he did lol!
If he had, network censors would have overdubbed it.
No he didn’t.
No. He says the other guy, the other...guy...
