At one point in my life I was addicted to listening to him every night before bed and suddenly after his death most of his long videos disappeared from RUclips. Thanks for reposting them.
@darya4828 me too, every night. Been through a lot of eckhart tolle, alan watts, sadhguru, vedic texts, christian teachings, hermeticism... all of it, but thich quiets my mind more than any other. His demeanor and manarisms are such an embodiment of his teachings.
Thank you for posting videos of Thay ❤ always appreciate and grateful for Plum village and Thay’s transmissions of Buddha’s teachings. Thay mentioned “you reap what you sow”and things don’t happen by chance. I’m just trying to link it to my current sufferings. I understand that sufferings are impermanent, but on that point, it affected me a little as I was thinking why such sufferings befall me (i.e., I just lost my job and my father passed away). I’ve always tried to be as nice as I could be to people around me, but often don’t get the same in response though I understand that I cannot expect people to be nice to me in return. Currently trying to practice meditating on emptiness and that I can work on myself in the present moment rather than thinking of what happened in the past and what will happen to me in future (I am very very lost in my career) but Thay’s words struck me and I’m just thinking what I did that led me to these suffering. Would greatly appreciate any insights from fellow brothers and sisters, and teachers.
@heyhiyohello Dear friend, I'm sorry to hear about your suffering. I am a student of Thay and still learning and I offer this message in that spirit. My understanding of suffering is that it is a fact of life, not a punishment for bad behaviour. The Buddha called suffering the first Noble Truth because we all face it. I have heard Thay say that without suffering there could be no happiness. Suffering and happiness manifest together. Like night and day or left and right. I think it is true that if we treat people badly, for example by allowing our anger to manifest then we may expect anger in return, this is reaping what you sow. Also, even if we are kind to people we may not see the result of that personally, but the effect may be felt by another. Perhaps the people you were kind to then went on to treat their own family kindly where they would not have if you hadn't acted well. But life is life and there is suffering. We will all one day cease to manifest in this body. We will all face changes in our circumstances because life is impermanent, not because we have done something wrong. I invite you to read Thay's writing about the wave and the ocean. We are all like waves on the ocean, apparently separate, but our true nature is water. Or his teaching a cloud never dies. We may see that our favourite cloud has disappeared and feel sad but if we look deeply we will see that the cloud still survives in a different form, perhaps in our tea. I wish you happiness and health and peace.
You mention your work situation - I find it helpful to talk to others who are suffering in this economy. We’re going through a massive upheaval in our world and we can’t blame ourselves for all of it. Class warfare is real. I hope things are looking up for you. Solidarity!

Our feelings, breath, actions ➡️All come TO GO. Our illness, wellness ➡️ All come TO GO. We all after our birth running fast thinking we are achieving or struggling ➡️ We have come TO GO. THEN, why do we hold our GUILT, ANGER, UNFORGIVENESS, HATRED so Tightly when it too has➡️ come TO GO. 👉Allow it to flow out of our system by a simple technique : 1️⃣Breathe in for a count of 5 drawing the attention from the Navel slowly moving towards our crown area. 2️⃣Hold the breath for 5 seconds and then 3️⃣ Exhale out and down slowly through your spine for a count of 5 seconds. How many rounds❓️Do atleast 6=7 rounds Who might find this useful❓️You might find this technique extremely useful to calm the wavering monkey mind and your trainees or siblings make best use of this grounding technique.

Random guy. Searching for justification in suffering long in the past. Never going to be satisfied in that regard, no true answers.
also, when he says things don't happen by chance I assume he's acknowledging cause and effect. There are always variables that interact.

Thich is the best way forward anyone can get insight to understanding because we've all experienced what Thich is teaching.
