Thanks Andrew for: "Why should I go for Amazon when I can support a lokal family"! Yyyyessss! That is, in my oppinion, a helpful hint for esp. many youngsters who even buy their catfood at Amazon only to have any poor parcel driver to carry it up to the 4th floor to them.....instead of doing it by themselves! Thank you!

Andrew ,I'm excited for the 2.8 build .. And look forward to driving a 2.8 Troopy .. Take each vehicle on its individual merits .. post experience, that is !
    Perhaps you think similar ....
Not to mention the same engine in a different vehicle does not make it "the same vehicle "
    I never felt I needed a 2017 v8 Troopy, even after co-driving 7,000 klms in 2017 .. I feel I need the 2.8 though .. and the fuel saving,
Big country is Australia & wont become cheap to journey anytime SOON.

hey Andrew @4xoverland at 5.47 I notice a console style fridge. We are buying a (2018) 78 series (also fitting a roof top conversion) and I was told by Consoles Australia that I can't fit a console fridge as the floor pan is "too high" in the Troopy and the fridge will therefore sit too high and be unusable as an armrest. You clearly have one and it works... May I ask what brand and how you've got it set up. Is there an aftermarket console in front of it?

What about a rear vision camera that replaces the mirror? We have them in trucks and they really help. Gives us an idea of what’s behind us and a good set of mirrors do beside and behind aswel. A lot of the reverse camera /mirror replacement u can leave on all the time aswel not just when ur reversing.

Hi Andrew. While I enjoy your content, I feel that this build using "Australian" company's products is not exactly turning out that way. It tells me that there is a severe lack of well made Australian 4WD products which makes me sad. Perhaps you might be able to offer your expertise to these Aussie companies to improve their products so that you CAN, eventually, do what you started out to do with this build. Also, I'm looking forward to your Hiace build.

Why paying for amazon since you can pay double the price for people who got it from amazon. :) Andrew stop this. i can get it in open discussion live about this matter and you cannot win any day in 20 years. West is what it is because of China wonder. China is what it is because of Western buyers. Stop this "local market advertising" its misleading and hypocrite. We are buying cheap stuff for 20 years and now suddenly we care about the local market? C`mon man.

I would imagine the mounting location on the dash of that Sony camera would be illegal as it obstructs your view out the front of the vehicle - certainly in QLD it’s not legal to mount anything like that in the centre of your view - perhaps WA is different.
So, if you remove those two rear air vents - how does the cabin air now flow through and out of the vehicle? Have you installed replacement exit vents elsewhere?
These exist for a very necessary specific purpose.

The go pro thing, yeah go pro are bad in low light but your comparison is to a$6000-$8000 Sony set ( surprise it’s better)of coarse a full frame is better. This is show how out of touch you are.
And this goes back to you begging for money of patron. Yet in the same sentence after the go pro you commented on about $10000 dollars of the 2 cameras we see, the troopy build you have going on in Africa, the troopy build you have going on in Perth, whilst still driving around in a $180k troopy build. So yeah I’m a viewer of yours and do respect your game but it does come off abit snobbish mate.
I recently purchased a 2023 v8 79 have the tray from Norweld and that’s already $100k and it’s still looks stock. My point being, this was meant to be you build for a average joe, and mate you not a average joe, it’s still a build by someone who has massively deep pockets and and has resources to just going spend tens of thousands at a drop of a hat. Sorry just my opinion of how I see it
    Rant over

Andrew, you weren't ranting about GoPros at all. Whilst they have improved their low light abilities, they are as you accurately described them. I kinda feel (as a landcruiser enthusiast), that ive pushed Andrew out into the rain to go and get the mail on this product. This will represent whether i ever buy another cruiser or be content with my Hilux (and my lovely fj45)… Andrews opinions are not tarnished by the manufacturer and from memory has trodden on toes by being frank and transparent. Is there any reason why you can't go solid lift up panels, not see through, and upgrade your mirror to compensate. My old 75s and my 79 series utes always have solid canopies, leaving vision to the front doors and mirros, essentially the same vision as a troopy with blocked out rear glass. 26 years of landcruiser utes with no traffic issues.

I agree on action cameras - no amount of in-camera software trickery can bridge the gap between a 34.65 mm2 sensor and a 864 mm2 full frame sensor. Add on the quality of the lenses, the raw image quality and the accessories to aid in professional looking shots and I reckon a DSLR is still the clear winner to produce top-quality video that you'll always be proud of.
