    These videos are great. I teach low-level robotics for ages 9-14 and F1 has been a great case study for us to understand all of the different sensors that come together to perform one task. My students love these type of videos since they can see physically how everything works instead of just hearing and trying to conceptualize it like that

    Finally someone talks about how much data is taken from the cars in different stages, what kind of data it is, and how it is processed. I have been wondering about this for a long time. Thanks so much for this one 👌.

    What would be the one data stream that you wish you had, but is too complex, heavy or not possible to get?

      The driver's thoughts? Or rather how the car physically feels to them in real time.

    • @TanishqIsHere
      @TanishqIsHere Год назад +2

      I think, as far as sensor data is concerned the high memory requirement does not come from the individual data points because they typically are only time series with just "x-y" values and with very less memory requirements, the sheer quantity datapoints collected makes things heavy, it is done so that analysts can have as much resolution as possible. Kind of like why pro photographers and filmmakers shoot in RAW, to have maximum amount of information even if 95% of that is useless. So to my knowledge every type of sensor data can be had on telemetry only question is: "how dense?"

    I'm nowhere near any field of engineering but this is still incredibly insightful. Since this is a very broad look at data for an F1 car, it would be interesting to see a very specific look at the data being processed during a race weekend, like for example a small clip being sent to the factory, what kinds of insights came out of it, and what was done to make that data productive on the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix or something like that.
    Thank you for sharing, I hope to see more content like this.

      Believe it or not, sim racing like iRacing actually generates and can store a lot of the same data, and there are free (and paid) programs for analyzing performance. I don't know if it is still available, but McLaren's professional driver analytics program will give you the same performance data analysis the pros use. It is the same program for real cars. Steering input, g-force breaking, tire temperature, etc.
      It doesn't have engine particulars or aero performance sensors, but the car physics is all the same.
      That's a great source for seeing what data is used and how, even if you don't actually race. Get someone to save the telemetry from a race and use the free tools to analyze the data.

    • @MershedPerderders
      @MershedPerderders Год назад

      @@johnelectric933 That's interesting, would you happen to know a couple of tools? I googled some but since it's really not my field I'm unsure if I'm reading up on updated contexts

    Also keep in mind that, along with all the measured parameters, a lot of the data coming off the car are used to calculate additional analytical performance parameters to make decisions. Just massive amounts of data. That’s what we do in the aerospace propulsion world.

      With the cost cap requirements, I would imagine that the most cost effective method (cost vs potential benefit) are a consideration here. Most teams have a partnership or sponsorship deal with a shipping/logistics company, so may get expedited shipping at preferential rates from these businesses - but I’m sure the FIA have a way to properly assess the “real” costs to each team.

    Minhas congratulações! Eu em particular faço a leitura CIRCUÍTO/CONCEITO (PÓS e CONTRAS) / PILOTO (DNA de PILOTAGEM); Diálogo Piloto/Conceito onde seus pós nos pontos de cada circuíto; Um exemplo literal o circuíto de Interlagos crava exato com o estilo de pilotagem do Russell com os pós do Conceito Mercedes W13! Traçado e Retomada! 6 pontos à favor, fato este ativado pelo traçado que é único de cada Piloto! Porém exige gabaritar onde só acontece porque um ponto depende da saída do ponto anterior, errou o primeiro só na próxima volta! S do Senna 2 pnts; Reta Oposta 2 pnts; Subida do Laranjinha 2 pnts e Retomada da Reta ou seja 7 pontos sequênciais! Essa é a fórmula que o Piloto tem que saber! Ja em ABU DABHI é Estratégia Equipe e dupla de Pilotos pois o Circuíto favorece os concorrentes; mas se a Escuderia Mercedes W13 / Dupla de Pilotos gabaritar P1 E P2! Show, Parabéns!!! Trabalho exemplar!!! União, Dedicação, Nunca desistir!!! 2023 os concorrentes vão enlouquecer!! Mercedes W14 somatizado com os dois melhores Pilotos + a Equipe!!! Tutâno!!! O psicológico dos concorrentes direto completamente alterado! Quesito este de extrema significância que a Mercedes faz parte do DNA!!! CÓDIGO ÉTICO DA MARCA!!! A troca de velocidade do Mercedes W13 motor cheio na crescente do giro antecipado do led visual no volante, tanto na indução e redução para obter 100% da potência na retomada! Motor W13 é selvagem! Nervoso, bravo imbatível! Codificação Quântica da troca de velocidade entre 0 e 1! Resposta agressiva em função do atraso da saída do ar!
