Your alternator has bearings inside that allows the pulley and stator to spin with the engine belt. If the belt is rubbing on the pulley due to misalignment or the bearings are worn out your alternator could indeed make a whining noise.
I totally can relate to your excitement getting yr new MR2. i remember how excited i was travelling on a train (which i missed the first one by few seconds, which I had to wait for another 4 hrs for the next one) to get my MRS 3 yrs ag. The feeling driving it back home, where almost nobody ever seen one & the look on their faces were priceless.
The adaptronic ecu is awesome they are about 1500-2000$$ and can run anything so that’s awesome, the wiring noise could be a vacuum leak or a belt rubing on something or an idle tensioner, the gearbox grinding could just need to be ‘bled’ or the clutch fork might need greasing, If I were to guys I would get an eflex sensor for the ecu and build one good engine out of the two 3sge’s and the do a “+t” set up and turbo the good “Frankenstein “ motor you put together, the fake toms’ snorkel is cool just needs a tidy up, Check out the og king of mr2s in Australia ‘defect’ owned by shane nyran back in the day or also Dcups that a dj used to own, and also look up ketzel sterlings mr2 trd wide body build from nz it’s awesome
I just bought the cheapest soarer I could find, I only bought it because its body is straight no major issue, there are 2 errors, one because it was removed the air susp, it came with brand new coilovers, and another error is tail light, 18x10 wheels rear ones, but it is filthy as hell, I am sure it will keep me busy for a while.....Good luck with yout new MR2...
I love the front bumper, maybe try to get it supported properly but keep it! If your getting a respray anyway, why not make the bottom bumper fin looking bits black so it looks like an aggressive diffuser. The Snorkel is also really cool looking if you can get over the poser factor for being non turbo and a bit slow ;)
Dude I got an mr2 for 1600 about a year ago and it had one of those drift gear knobs too (mine in grey Kevlar finish), now it's absolutely cooked and feels like shit. Still running it though lol
Man if you call that a shit box you haven’t seen the mr2s for sale in the states . I would love to buy something as clean 🧼 as that for a new project .
The wheels suck, the front bumper needs parts. The wing is crap, the dings are easy enough to fix, you could easily fix them. The rear bumper could easily be fixed. The stand alone ECU should be kept, just because you don't understand it you should look up the benefits of a standalone ecu, you could sell the rear bumper for cash, and use the money to buy a stock one. The snorkel is designed to bring fresh cold air into the air box, likewise if you don't like it then sell it, same with the front bumper. Sell it and buy or trade it for a stock one. The interior is in need of a good cleaning. You should consider learning to do bodywork on your own cars, the tools are cheap, and the work, while it is time consuming is easy enough to learn and do. Two step primer is available in spray cans, but I am not sure about in Australia. It has a valve at the bottom of the spray can which releases hardener into the primer you shake the crap out of the can and you must use the paint within a certain amount of time. This is the same quality of paint available in a paint booth. You do the dent repair, use body filler etc, fill the pin holes, sand and then primer using high quality primer. Wet sand the primer after it has totally dried. And then pay someone to paint the top coat. The bottom line is that it saves you huge amounts of money.
@@RexH Depends on the base models. People shouldn't and can't really compare modified cars. Especially when they compare a stock car to a modified one. Also they can't just say "it's faster". Where? 1/4? Track? Street? Where?

definitely not the last 'new' mr2 we'll be seeing on rex's channel ;)

I thought the stock ecu limits the top speed ? In the uk it does anyway.
Wasnt the snorkel designed for the mr2 na race engine with a toms custom air box to go with it to take advantage if the extra forced air feed ??
I remember seeing the ad to that car a few months ago.
Same dude.cant say I wasn't tempted
@@mrkazman Was kinda tempeted. but i also really wanted a old vk commodore. but now i kinda wish i got the mr2. at least it wouldn't be full of rust
eurou front bumper for anyone wondering, not toms or the f355 one as someone said below lol, pretty rare bumper to see around
