John Short My guess is Pierps Broskin from that mermaid movie. When celebrities go on press tours for their films, they often get delayed and sometimes have to cancel important stops. Thank goodness series regular Ayaka could step in! And in case you haven't watched the whole thing yet, I won't give away the surprise ending that involves her! Keep watching....
I didn't care for the sappiness at the end. That marriage is doomed. I'm no #GreggHead by any means but he is certainly better than Ayaka. I think this is the worst season finale so far. 5 bags of popcorn and 3 engagement rings for this episode.
It makes you wonder if movie buff Greg Turkington was the guest who cancelled at the last minute. With as many guests as they feature on this show, we'll propably never know who it was.
It released in 2022 as "The King's Daughter" and failed catastrophically at recouping it's 40 million dollar production budget, earning 2.2 million dollars worldwide.
It's crazy that "The Moon and The Sun" only got released to the wide public today, January 21 2022. Up until this point, the only things we knew about the movie came from Tim and Ayaka's review. Thank god for Tim's incredible Hollywood connections to get the inside scoop on these movies!
DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED? During the final shoot of Decker, Tim REALLY burned Gregg's tapes! When Gregg went to go find a fire extinguisher to save them Tim ABANDONED him on the beach! Tim then sold Gregg's plane ticket and used the money to buy Ayaka's wedding RING! His plan all along to keep Gregg's apartment all for himself! If you care about On Cinema PLEASE help bring Gregg home! I'm starting a kickstarter to fund his ticket! #bringGreggHome
I agree with Timmy, I'm only going to give this comment 4 bags a popcorn, about a hundred burned tapes, a very expensive ring, and a Tylenol for the turbulence that you would get from being on an airplane for to long
I think it held up quite well, actually. Gregg wasn't there to constantly try to derail and steal the spotlight from Tim. Ayaka appearing as the guest again was really a breath of fresh air. She's lovely and you can really see how much she and Tim love each other. Gregg is toxic and this episode goes to show just how much better OCAC is without him.
I never picked up until this rewatch that Tim's motive for burning the VHS tapes was because he was annoyed at navigating those vhs boxes at Gregg's apartment. Incredible
It's because she genuinely does seem like an actual sweet, naive Japanese girl. Tim's direction must be really good because this kind of sincerity comes through with so many smaller roles and characters. Like for example the dad in the Tornado episode of Bedtime Stories. Pretty sure Tim told him to act like it was a melodramatic Lifetime movie and he did it perfectly.
3 bags? 3 Bags!!!?? No mermaid movie deserves less than 4, and certainly one comparable to Splash deserved 5 and maybe a little dolphin to accompany her in her adventures under the sea. Gregg does not make mistakes like this.
I'm impressed by how much Tim is willing to share of himself for the purposes of this show, for our entertainment. He really shows us a lot about his personal life. I'm proud of him and Ayaka for making it work, but FUCK, you better get Gregg back on the show or OCATC is FINISHED!
This should be greggs show now, tim should have just let the blood clots finish him off, now the fame of decker seems to be causing him an even slower death
While I'm afraid that the Popcorn Classics series is now irreversibly tainted, I feel that Gregg could still salvage the smoking ruins of this once-so-great show.
Easily the best episode of On Cinema yet. No bullshit segments or so called "expertise" to take away from honest to god movie reviews. Keep up the good work Tim, congrats on the engagement.
They even changed the title to The King's Daughter after this episode came out. I guess Tim and Ayaka must have seen a special critics-only early premiere!
Tim murdered him after destroying his VHS collection in order to impress Scientology. Gregg hasn't updated his Twitter since before they shot the final episode.
***** Gregg had dedication and showed amazing professionalism for his craft of accurate film critiques. Not only that, but he also further proved his love for film by even trying to honor the great WC Fields. Tim, on the other hand, is very capable of murder. He's jealous Gregg actually got a part in a triple A-star movie, Ant-Man. So he destroys Gregg's VHS collection, takes his home, takes his things, and then murders him. I think Tim believes he's actually Decker with a license to kill. #FindGregg
That slant-eyed she-devil? I filled her full of .50 cal high velocity shells after she gave me a wicked crab infestation when we made love in a cave in Tora Bora, just over the Khyber Pass.
While this episode did lack a certain expertise, I was more than happy to see Tim having a good time with Ayaka. After the past few weeks he really deserves this and I couldn't be happier for him. Congrats Tim!!
It was very nice to see how comfortable Tim was in this new surrounding, with his new co-host, talking some expert movie review stuff. I was surprised by Ayaka's deep insight into the movie industry & her harsh criticism, and of course, I shed a tear right there at the end! Congratulations!
I'm honestly not surprised Gregg isn't on the finale. What Tim did was unforgivable. How would time like it if Gregg burned Tim's *EGO*??? Absolutely shocking display from Tim and I don't think I could every forgive Tim for what he has done. The greatest film buff of our generation has been *DESTROYED*.
Its clear that Tim didn't sign off with Gregg before he burnt those tapes in Decker episode 20. (Greggs real collection) I think Gregg may be so hurt he refused to return to on cinema. This is terrible for both the show and their friendship but it did at least lead to one of best scenes in Decker yet. The sequence with the bonfire is forever etched in our minds, thanks to Greg and Tims electrifying performances and the raw emotions of real loss. It's beautiful.
Leads him to catch a memer 2:19. I don't think people realize how much of a turning point this episode is in Tim's life. Everything revolves around Ayaka and TCH (Tom Cruise Heideker) from here on out.
Nothing seemed missing in this episode. What a great episode! I laughed, I cried, and just overall really enjoyed it. Tim as always is a classy and proper gentleman. Five bags of popcorn.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the last episode of Decker. Tim apparently needed to really burn Greg's tapes so the part could feel real to him (it's a method acting thing) and Greg didn't take it so well. That's also probably why they don't have a popcorn classic VHS
If you want to understand what Einstein was talking about when he said time was relative just think back to this video and how long it took to hear the words "for this season" after Tim said "This is the final episode of On Cinema, At The Cinema," then watch the video again and see how short of a span of time that actually was before you found out it wasn't the final episode altogether.
Good to see this titan of the reviewing industry back on the show. Amazing that she was also able to fill in at the last moment. Whomever the guest who cancelled was has shown great disrespect to the show and I hope they understand what a big mistake they have made.
Wow... that was the BEST episode I've seen all season! Ayaka was on point with her reviews as always... notice how she gave a harsh review to 'The Moon and The Sun'. I was very glad about the popcorn classic (Finally, a movie released in the last century!) and the surprise ending? Well, I usually don't cry during On Cinema, but I think we all did, just for this moment. I almost forgot that 'Buffhead' was even here. It was THAT good! I give this episode six bags of popcorn, and a wedding gift basket for Tim and Ayaka. Now to celebrate by burning a few VHS tapes! #DeckerDudes2015 #TimXAyaka
Ayaka is a breath of fresh air. It's a lot of fun to have a different perspective from the one we got from that same old guest over and over. If Ayaka's going to be on in the future Tim should consider having an exchange student move in and help with the baby after her mother goes home.
Finally we got rid of Gregg and Tim is able to truly shine without anyone holding up down. It looks like the show has come full circle from the first episode of this season where it was only Gregg. A full circle... almost like a uh... some sort of a pie. Or something else round sort of like that... As in a pie, you know. Uh right well I give this episode five thumbs up and a little uh pie with a little cherry on top.
Awesome episode.. was so special and dramatic. I have to say this is a much lovelier guest than I am used to seeing on this program. You both did great!
Yesiamblind you're probably correct, on a wise and moral level as found on Values.com You are correct, and I apologize to Tim, and I hope we still can have Gregg on On Cinema. USED TO want to DRINK THEE BLOOD of Tom Cruise Heidecker and Ayaka, but now I repent and abstain completely!! Bless your family.
Tim was staying at Gregg's place and now he has the whole place. Decker did a symbolic sacrificial burning of Greg's VHS collection and now he's M.I.A. Something doesn't add up. Somebody call 911. Seriously.
Toastbye _ No, no, Greg's still out there somewhere. Living like a hobo, directing traffic from some street corner, probably doesn't even know his own name anymore. As far gone as Tim is, I doubt he would cook up a tasty Gregg BBQ - would he?
"Everybody's probably saying where's (not Gregg, but) Tom Cruise Heidecker." Can't wait for next season. I'm hoping we find out what happened with Gregg. Is he searching high and low to replace each and every one of his world record VHS collection (and making back ups)? I like how Gregg is apparently pissed at Tim but doesn't throw him out, he simply leaves his place of residence. I wonder how that conversation went. "Gregg, I know you're mad at me, even though I explained why your tapes NEEDED to be burned for realism and dramatic effect, and its pretty selfish, I might add, that you'd put your own needs over my work on making Decker the classic that it is, but don't punish Ayaka and Tom Cruise Heidecker. Are you really going to put my wife and son on the streets over some VHS tapes? Besides, you're just one guy, you don't NEED all this space. You can get a studio or something since you're only one man with no family or loved ones. I understand you want to, I don't know, sever our relationship, or whatever, but we're not leaving so I think its best that you find another place to live."
I'm sure Gregg is just a little worn out from the intense shooting schedule on Decker 2, taking some well deserved r&r. He'll be back next season with more of that much celebrated movie expertise!
its at times like this that a phrase my pep pep taught me as a child really rings true and hits home. 'Biz before sliz' Tim. Think about that when you consider the toxic actions you have carried out against a colleague and a friend and the possible repercussions this could have to your business. I'm reminded of the callous actions of ISIS sledgehammering ancient arabic antiquities when i recall your burning of Greg's collection.
theboatdrifts Perhaps you may recall another insidious individual who, JUST LIKE CREGG, waited in the wings bidding his time before pouncing and usurping power without any legitimate claim - stealing the show, as it were. That's right. HITLER!
Cool that Tim and Ayaka have so much more space in Gregg's place now that his VHS collection isn't in the way
Popcorn Classics on iToons take up way less space and they can't be bugged by the Tally Bahns.
"Should I see a movie this weekend? Ahhhhhh!"

Harry Abernathy Is it me or does OCATC review a lot of Pierce Bronsdin films?
Unknown. They've had so many great guests over the years, John Aprea, Larry Turman, Joe Estevez, could be any one of them or even someone new.
Probably Mike Hucklebee
It makes you wonder if movie buff Greg Turkington was the guest who cancelled at the last minute. With as many guests as they feature on this show, we'll propably never know who it was.
Tim has Gregg's clothes now... What has happened
Oh my god you're amazing for noticing this
beehivecity wow, nice catch!
same haircut too, sorta
beehivecity so impressed and thankful you noticed this. theyre really into this storyline. exciting to see what they have planned :)
+ProperGanderSaul You are an absolute idiot if you think this is unplanned.
lmao Tim burned all of Gregg's VHS tapes and exiled him from his own home.
Ayaka's racist attitude toward Mermaids has compromised her integrity as a film critic.
I agree. She should go back to where she came from!!!
lol. 5 bags for this coment, one for each year that has passed since being made
The Moon And The Sun never found a distributor, so Tim and Ayaka are some of the only people who got to see it.
Ayaka's bad review killed its momentum.

I agree with Timmy, I'm only going to give this comment 4 bags a popcorn, about a hundred burned tapes, a very expensive ring, and a Tylenol for the turbulence that you would get from being on an airplane for to long
It was the perfect crime
You're right, this was emotional! It was sad to see film criticism fall so low with the absence of Gregg. This episode was a trainwreck without him.

Gregg: always a bridesmaid, never the bride.
Weirdly I really do find the part where Ayaka says yes to Tim's proposal heartwarming.

They even changed the title to The King's Daughter after this episode came out. I guess Tim and Ayaka must have seen a special critics-only early premiere!
How could they have reviewed a movie if it wasn't even out yet? Think before you say such slanderous accusations.
Ayaka's scathing 3 bag review made me literally gasp in shock.
Hearing Tim say "bags of soda" the first time: "LMAO"
Hearing him say it the 50th time: "..."
Hearing him say it the 2,632nd time: "LMAO"
With the exception of Oh God, Ex-Machina is the only featured film that I have seen up to this point. Thanks for all you do!👍
That should be Gregg getting married to Tim...
Ayaka had so much to contribute to this episode, she has more movie knowledge in her little finger than Gregg has in his entire body.
