Half-Life: Alyx is Valve’s VR return to the Half-Life series. It’s the story of an impossible fight against a vicious alien race known as the Combine, set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.
As founders of a fledgling resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity-performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.
Every day, you learn more about your enemy, and every day you work toward finding a weakness.

It's not a cliffhanger. They literally throw you off the cliff
That is what I believe humans refer to as "irony"
They used a cliffhanger to destroy (read: solve) the original cliffhanger! And FWIW though, I think that one of Marc Laidlaw's original ideas to cap off the original HL2 trilogy would've been to also end it on a cliffhanger, for the next generation of HL developers to pick up from. Man the theme for the Half Life 3 teaser is so good.
Yep
OMG YES
hell yea
My body is ready
Did anyone have the feeling that Shepard in HL opposite force will come back??...
This theme is uncertainty. You start with the quiet piano as you realize what has just happened and wonder what the future holds. Soon after however, the guitar and drums kick in to assure you that no matter what just happened, the future is still coming and Gordan and Eli are going to come kick some ass in half life 3. I also feel like it's the theme of Valve saying "Yeah. We're back."
That would be so powerful. Like you said, the drums gives sort of a "we're back." feeling, but I feel that this final note, with a large reverb, tells us that stakes are higher than ever in the story, with events going way beyond what we think. So the following adventure *has* to be huge. There's no alternative, with the way they put emphasis on G-Man (all in all, this VR game is all about him).
To me, it just sounds like "oh shit" but it repeats over and over and progressively gets more chaotic
Oh shit

Notice how much this one sounds like Kelly Bailey and that's so fitting considering this is the track right before you play as Gordon Freeman which makes me forgive most of the soundtrack for sounding too different from Kelly Bailey's style because this music was made for Alyx Vance not Gordon Freeman.
I always thought the reason the HLA soundtrack sounded so different is because Mike Morasky couldn't mimic Kelly's style. I was wrong. It was clearly intentional, done to reflect the different personalities of the characters.
Hey Komegatze I love seeing your SFM and S2FM Animations!
@@RAVEVelvet I can attest. Good stuff.

Interesting. They say freeman doesn't speak and has the personality of the player, but I feel like the soundtracks played at certain times mimics freeman's personality. You can say that with every game, but the type of instruments used in the soundtrack is important for fitting the character.
Kinda considering this the "Half-Life Theme" in my head now, it sums them all up perfectly, none of them have ever really ended with a "happy" ending, this song doesn't quite sound happy, it's very "What the hell do we do now?"-ish

Imagine going back in time and rewriting Epistle 3 but with Eli instead of Alyx, and everyone is just confused because he was supposed to be dead
People are kinda confused about alyx fate after half life alyx, my interpretation is that when she freeed gman he offered her something she dont know and gave her a chance to change the future and after that wipped her memory and let her go and continue her life till half life two episode two, as at the end we see ourself from gordon freemans perspective and eli is alive while advisor is laying dead and alyx is nowhere to be found, i think gman snached alyx from there not five years ago, thats why we could see gman on hard left side of the compound watching us and eli
Gman let Eli die as a bargaining chip
From another YT comment:So one theory is that HL alyx takes place in a pocket universe created by the Gman. When gordon gets knocked out at the end of Episode two, thats where the gman comes and puts her through the test to see if she's worthy to work for him. The whole HL Alyx is just a test to see if she has the skills to get him freed. The Gman never was imprisoned it just was a set up. When he turns back time, its the only thing he really does. Just 30 sek back in time. So Alyx can rescue her father and with that accepts the offer. Gman takes her with him. And then Gordon wakes up, Eli realised what the gman has done. Half Life Alyx is in Virtual Reality because IT IS A VIRTUAL REALITY....
While that sounds like "too much" at first, thinking about it makes more and more sense. No one ever mentioned this happened in HL:2. If the G-Man can foresee everything including Gordons "failure" he would not have hired him in the first place. If this test really takes place five years ago the G-Man has no prove of Gordons failure. Gordon is currently "hired" and in stasis. But the G-Man explicitly says that Gordon failed. The beginning takes place in this empty white "room" where it says Subject Status and Affiliation. Just like the end when she´s hired. In the Level where you have to stop the train with Eli in it, when you fail you end up in this white room. Where the text says: Assignment: Terminated, Subject: Alyx Vance, Reason: Failure to preserve mission critical resources.
@@scarf258 thats cool but if you look at it this way, half life alyx introduce something that can supress gman's power, and as at the end of half life alyx, eli says that hes going to kill gman, and given all of his reality warping capablities its not possible unless gordon somehow get him to someplace like vault or ask fellow vortigaunts for help and they subdue his power just like at the end of hl2 and how combine was using vortigaunt's vortacence to do the similar thing but on massive scale, so that we could kill him, i believe we'll never find out what gman really is, but i believe that the half life alyx introduce the fact that nomatter how strong gman would be at the end of the day hes just a mortal like you and me and that myfriend is how you put it down
@@scarf258 at the end you can see first gman's apperation leaving his body and walking towards certain direction like how time flows and then you see multiple apperation of gman leaving his body and he follows only one of it which makes it clewr that hes implying that hl universe work on multiversal scale and he cant really tell that which one of the future he sees will going to become reality so he nudges things here and there to make it to the way as he desires
