I hear people say they didnt like most of the soundtrack because it didn't "sound like the half-life they knew" except for the credits music. And honestly, HL: Alyx isn't the Half-Life we knew and it's not supposed to be, but the credits music is kind of that push of "Hey, we're back, Half-Life's back, why don't we get ready because things are just beginning."

I thought the soundtrack was bloody amazing and honestly so glad to see the Portal 2 team on that game. IMO they did a way better job in writing HLA than the other writers did on the other HL games, as much as I love them

triage at dawn is so much better. maybe the nostalgia or because it had been my favorite song for many years. i cant disagree that this song is good... it's actually one of the best soundtracks in a videogame and i can bet that this song will have a special place in the heart's of the people who have never heard triage at dawn.
The music speaks to "moving forward" Half Life has been stagnant, dead in the water, and assumed to be abandoned entirely for hats. This song is an acknowledgement of getting back at it. It makes me cry too.
The music plays perfectly to the thoughts of someone who's just finished the game. "Wait what? Oh no.... really? But...? But that's... I always wanted to change the past... but now that I have... Is this better? What's going to happen next? Is there a positive future? What have I done?" Then the HEV suit plays and you get an injection of "It's going to be okay." juice. I love this game.

I can only imagine an Adrian, Barney and Gordon standing in front of G-Man. Imagine a pissed off shephard after being imprisoned in stasis, gordon after being manipulated and losing Alyx and Barney cause he never get his beer from Gordon because of G-Man

Doubt it, Shepard was never a part of the story and just an addition by Gearbox. So far they've yet to mention anything from Gearbox's expansions in the lore.
This is so good. The initial part is melancholic, aligning with my mood of sadness, and then it evolves into a chaotic sequence of drums and guitar bass, which coincide with my anger and excitement. In the end is relief. I feel the full spectrum of emotions through this track. it channels it well.
Blasting those damn combine with the green beams from vortigaunt's energy was awesome. But then that ending turned me into a shell of a man I just was.
