It portrays the story in a very realistic way
This first episode blew me away, the slow pacing, vulnerability and relationship boundary setting in this first episode was more than I see in entire cours of most anime. This show is definitely not for everyone but it certainly is for me.
Edit: Also love how the kids are super mature and the parents are the typical anime high school couple.
I think we don't get the side wheels of over acting here as much as in other shows. So they might seem more mature. And no fanservice in the first episode. I have high hopes. But it can also get quite annoying if they don't do it right but if they do then yeah might be really good.
Girl on the phone was the blondie Saki when she was younger, she's died her hair blonde. They explained she's not photogenic so the Dad didn't have any recent photo's the show his son, that's why he was surprised that his "little sister" was the same age, because she didn't match the out of date photo.
Really good first episode. I really like how mature and grounded it all feels (and the moment saki was figuring out how to turn of the lights was perfect)
took the words right outta mouth! Sadly been seeing a lot of people shit on this show for being too 'slow" and "serious" meanwhile i think thats what actually makes it good. Personally ive seen too much romcom so this is refreshing for me at least.
anyone else thinking the sound effects are different in this show? Maybe as they animate slower they can use actually the real world sound. Just something strange I noticed.
this story is *muah chefs kiss so good. and vol 11 is dropping on july 25th and every release im so exited cuz the storys so good. so far theyve taken the story seriously and at a decent pace. oh man the infamous "dont expect anything from you so dont expect anything from me"

I watch the first 3 pre air episodes, and as a novel reader, I can say that they did very well adapting it into anime👌 it's totally different comparing to other stepsis anime because they took a realistic approach to build up their development 👌
This is a romance series but it takes their relationship seriously, There's not much comedy here, in fact the author doesn't want people to call the series a romcom, just a romance. I just want to say this before people expect something different.
I was thinking if it will have comedy i like how it is more down to earth with less comedy
I actually quite enjoyed this first episode but the entire time I was thinking how it's a shame theyre gonna get together in the end. Also I find it pretty funny how these step sibling anime are seemingly getting tamer as time passes. We went from Domestic Girlfriend where they had sex before becoming step siblings, to the one from last year where they dated before it happened and now this one where they're just complete strangers to each other.
The little brown-haired girl was only Saki photo he's got before they met, her mom explained that she didn't get like getting photographed when she was older. Later his coworker asked if his new sister was cute (little girl) and he replied she was beautiful (same age), I interpreted that as him not knowing Saki's age until they met, perhaps expecting the little girl from the photo. Anime can often hit you with wacky hair colors, but Im pretty sure this one goes for realism so anything but black or brown is hair dye.

Everything in this first episode seems so convincingly realistic that it is near to overdoing it, except for *how the f' did this man convinced the first woman into a marriage or the second one.*
I guess that goofy side from his dad is just endearing, or yknow in a more negative perspective it might be because they seemingly make a good amount of money, to have an apartment with spare rooms that are pretty large
