I will say for anyone who doesn't/hasn't seen it I believe the author themselves commented on the deeper meaning behind Ayase's actions which I put an explanation later in the video for anyone curious. As I myself left this episode feeling kinda confused there is actually a VERY well written explanation for what exactly led to the actions at the end of this episode!

Also there was a mistranslation in the final scene, she didn't say she was starting to have "feelings" for him, but she was starting to become aware about Asamura's existence, she was starting to see him as the opposite sex. That's why she was confused

This show is so good. I love how cinematic it is. As far as what she offered. She does not want to be dependent on anyone and wants to make money. She thought it would be better if it was him than some stranger. She is not thinking properly and she knows he finds her attractive so in her mind she wanted to know if he would buy her body.

More or less what I thought. In Ayase's mind, offering her body is her way of not feeling like a burden on Asamura after he's done so much for her. Because he believed in the rumors, even for a bit and that underwear conversation revealed he had "desires" (really just intrusive thoughts) she thought that would be the best way to pay him back and make them even. He would be buying her like she asked.

I appreciate that you actually take notice of the directing and camerawork. Not a lot of RUclipsrs do that.
As for Ayase selling her body to Asamura, my personal read on it (before I had gotten to the additional context you provided) was that Ayase was obviously hesitant about becoming closer to Asamura. She was liking him more, but she didn’t want to. Hence, she tried to revert their relationship to something transactional, something more detached, but still a relationship where they would stay near each other. Asamura’s refusal proved that they didn’t need to go through all that hoops to look out for each other.
Obviously I was a little off, now that I’ve read the additional context, but the core issue remains that Ayase can only think of interactions as transactional. Asamura (and his dad) are the first ones to seriously challenge that mentality.

I haven't read the source but my reading on the psychology there is that she obviously has a lot of issues with abandonment, her father left, her mother isn't there at all, her friends disappointed her... she's at a point where anyone she depends on betrays or leaves her. So now she has that new boy she feels drawn to, that's being nice to her and gets her so well... It's scary because if she lets herself get closer it'll be so painful when he betrays her (the thing about him looking having intrusive thoughts show that the possibility of him making a mistake exists). So rather than that she just (unconciously) causes the mistake to happen. If he takes advantage of her in this moment then she knows he's not really a good guy and now she doesn't have to be afraid to lose something precious to her. The way he reacted, refusing but also not pushing her away and rather spending time with her to talk is exactly what she needs and so it's very nice to see a story that handles pretty deep issues in such a satisfying way.

That's definitely part of it I would assume, but I actually posted a comment from the authors themselves towards the end of the video during my end of episode discussion where the author details exactly her thought process

@@bluestReacts yeah I believe what the author wrote is her concious thought or how she rationalizes her actions whereas what I wrote is more her subconcius. Very interesting series anyways, it's interesting having to piece things together ourselves. I hope it can maintain coherence through the future episodes because if so it could very well be one of the best mature romance/drama I have seen

Love that this is a more adult interaction between two smart grown up 17 year with family trauma.

First, let me point out that I'm using a translator.
I think there are two main reasons why Ayase did what she did: first, to avoid getting any closer than necessary, and second, to relieve the debt that Asamura's behavior was building up.
Both of these interpretations are contained in Ayase's line “I wish he were a wicked man”: the nicer he is to Ayase, the more she comes to rely on him, and the more traumatizing it will be for her if Asamura commits an act of betrayal like her father did. It also makes her feel indebted to him, but if her actions lead to a transactional relationship with him, she can repay him for what he's given her, while also gaining the assurance that he's not a 'good guy'.
And since a transactional relationship built this way doesn't involve 'expectations' of each other, only expectations of something in return, it also eliminates the possibility of betrayal - at least in Ayase's mind, regardless of how it actually works out.
After all, they can have no expectations of each other, as she says, and run away from her fears.
Asamura and Ayase's fear of expectations means that they are also afraid of a relationship that doesn't have something in return.
This is because “parents,” a social role that is clearly supposed to be quid pro quo, have not fulfilled that role.
Perhaps their statements of no expectations and their attitude of trying not to be prejudiced originated with their parents, because it hurts them less by treating the notion that “parents are supposed to love their children” as prejudice.
I'm watching from Korea, thanks for the interesting video.
한국에서 보고 있어요. 재밌는 영상 감사합니다.

Others covered one reason in comments another reason or possibility, is the idea that if he said yes, he would be like what she expects of others and him actually being the type of person willing to buy her body would make her not like him (ridding her of these feelings)

@@Airwave2k2 it's really not, if you like realistic shows that go into the characters mentality, you'll like this a lot.
My comment was meant to say the bed scene with her "selling herself" was the thing that could potentially turn people off the most.

I haven't read the author's deeper meaning behind ayase's action but i kinda get it what she wants to accomplish in here. It was kinda like a test i think for her if she can decide whether asamura truly is a genuine person so that she can accept the fact that this family(asamura and her step-dad) can truly be trusted and is worth relying for. Thats why the lines of ayase saying "This will be easy if you guys are bad people" or something like what she said that her looks were her armor, proves that this are her intentions.

    • @uannranillo3127

Then when asamura say the line that she hates girls doing these lewd things. I think that was the answer that she wants to hear cause it proves that asamura was not tempted by her looks and that his concern to her were truly genuine. That explain maybe why she kinda now have feelings for him.

Back when i read it, i just saw it as Saki's attempt to cut ties with him before it was too late.
If they did it she would be able to completely sever any emotional connection.
She would gain a mean to get money and also stop herself from getting emotionally invested in him, a win-win situation for the Saki that was still very much fuc*ed up in the head from her trauma.

I don't know why the opening is like that, maybe to emphasize that they both had bad childhood memories?
And nope, they didn't know each other when they were little lol
