Nick... you have done your service for the country, and you have done your service to the community. Good man.
And he grew up in foster care… what a good man
See you don't have to go around the world killing people to serve your country
Yes!!!!! What a wonderful young man, wow ⟵(๑¯◡¯๑)
@@aldomeow he is my uncle. He is an amazing individual.
Thank you for doing this. You blessed this restauranteur. From retired AF
With all the crap and bad news on a daily basis, its so refreshing to see a story like this.
YES IT IS! 🥰
For Real!!!❤❤❤
Those are my thoughts, exactly! So great to have a positive, real-people story for a change! Best wishes to the owner, the soldier and all the customers!
I totally agree!!
Yup, the good decent hard working people coming out on top for a change.
4.8 stars on yelp and 4.9 on facebook reviews.
This is such an amazing story. I love this
So nice to actually hear something great happened for this business owner.
Small business owners like this man need to be applauded.
And praised from toe to head!🥰😘
No more than any other hard-working citizens, most of whom contribute more to their local economy in the form of tax revenue and so on. Nothing at all to look down on them for, of course, and I support my local businesses as often as I can. I'm just saying it takes all kinds for a functional society, your local industrial employee or firefighter or schoolteacher or landscaper or electrician or housekeeper is just as deserving of our respect. People seem to have forgotten that, and it's worrisome.
unless they make their business on the agony and suffering of animals in which case they need to be shut down.
@@Hannari-xt6nrhow do you know he doesn't find animals that's already died
@@Hillary4SupremeRuler are you dense ?
Well.........HOT DOG!! I approve of this story and wish this establishment ALL THE SUCCESS IN THE WORLD!!!!!
Great use of words!!❤❤❤
LOL a few days ago I explained to our 2.5 yr old that "hot dog" is not just a food, but can be said when you are excited. She said, "NOOOOO."
My mom had just said "hot dog" because the pizza had arrived and our daughter said "no, I want pizza."
He said he almost didn't post it because he was concerned it would be considered a moment of weakness. I hope he learned a lesson from this. Compassion is a strength; not a weakness.
I think what he might have meant was that he was reluctant to post a photo of the owner during a moment of weakness, which was a considerate thought as well, but certainly a good thing that he did!
@@AaronTWas oh that makes sense too lol
@@AaronTWas way to ruin my deep thought!! 😂
lol sorry, still a good thought that you shared, and I completely agree with it 😊
He was unsure he wanted to expose the bad situation of the business owner, that’s all
EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this awesome story is a BLESSING!!! From Nick to the owner of the restaurant, to the lady that gave her corn dog recipe. THIS IS WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT, doing what you can for one another, from the heart!!! This is truly an amazing heartfelt true story! God bless all of them!!!!
I feel the same.
❤
They ARE the blessing😊. Theres no god. We choose to be the good in the world. The guy who posted the picture made the difference...not a make believe man in the sky. If we wait for "god" then nothing happens.
I've never considered a Hot Dog to be "Gourmet". But these do look exceptional! I'm happy for him.
You'd be amazed what you can do with a hotdog!
Uuhhh.... Let me rephrase that for all the slightly deviant minds out there!" You'd be amazed at how you can elevate a hotdog!
Those curly fries look bomb
Of course Hotdogs are gourmet. They come with a side of French cuisine - fries.
Not to knock anybody but the best hot dog I've ever had was at the Rose Parade in Pasadena....these Mexicans were cooking them on a stainless grill / propane on a shopping cart grilled bell peppers and grilled onions and touch of Serrano peppers with mayo! Bacon wrapped dogs....
@@user-xh8ii2hj6r Oh great. Now I have to get in my car and drive all the way to Pasadena to find that Mexican hotdog vendor to satisfy my craving - that you caused. And I’m in Ontario - - Canada.
Geez its tear jerker after tear jerker in this video. So happy to hear these positive stories in the midst of the nightmare this country is going through.
PR Stunts work
You're just a sad person.
@@iceKOIdyes they do, but as a PR pro, this doesn't seem to be our work, this is just luck + good humans.
@@montananerd8244 there’s a sucker born each day
this video keeps getting better as it goes on. It's good news after good news and people paying it forward. How lovely.
That picture broke my freaking heart. Nick, thank you so much for your service. You're an inspiration to many people out there. God bless Nick and the owner of Spirals.
Scott seems like a man who is certainly thankful for what he has.
Well done, Nick. Thank you for your service. That was awsome of that lady to offer her that corn dog recipe.
Yes, it is very sweet of her to share her recipe in an effort to help. What a great story all the way around.
Can't believe she's only 52. More like 72.
definitely not 52 @@iwannaseenow1
To Scott, Nick and Betty, thank you for your BIG HEARTS and being an essential part of such a feel-good story.
Where there are so much bullying and nonsense on social media, it's great when something positive comes out of it.
To The OK News Report, great job!
Great story. Is Betty Gatewood a 52 year old resident or a 52 year resident? There’s a huge difference! 😊
I was wondering the same. That woman is definitely not 52.
She's 52...been eating corn dogs and fries her whole life.
@mrosjo she's 75.
I played it back to see exactly what was said about her age---sounds like it says she is 52....but NO way is that correct....she is 70 easy.
That's a hard 52
This story brought a big smile on my face. Good things happen to good people. God bless him.
Good things happen to good and bad people.
I hope one day I'll be half the man Nick is. Grew up in sad circumstances, is serving his country and always looking to help anybody in need in need. A real life hero.
@privard89
AMEN 2 that!❤
That’s exactly right.
So happy to see this kind of news when community go out their way to help one of their own. Kudos to this young man for having empathy and compassion! 👍👏🙏
As a fellow entrepreneur, I totally understand the ups and downs all too well. I'm so happy to see this happen for such a nice family.
Just yesterday I jokingly told my husband “well, let me go watch the good news”. I love this story, it does my heart good and it’s too bad I’m nowhere near Oklahoma because I LOVE hot dogs. Wishing this small business continued success.
Same. I wish I were could try this place. I like a well done hot dog. And those look grilled well
We need good news stories like this more than ever. Blessings to the good people trying their best to make it from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
@@backagain5216 We sure do.
God bless this man!
All the success my Brother 🙏🏾
As a former news photog who attended the NPPA Workshop in Norman over 3 decades ago, I applaud stations that still see the tremendous value in producing local feature stories. This is the kind of reporting we need more of. Especially right now.
The photo did not just go viral, it went spiral, into a GRAND thing! Thank you for your above and beyond service Nick, saving one soul, save another! It spiraled into control =)
Lol~Good One☆☆:)
@DianasDreams ... Excellent comment! Well done!
Props to the guy who posted it, but definitely not a moment of weakness. Compassion and fighting for others is what he does for a living.
He is such a kind man and the food is really good!
To those that believe the Uniform is a sign of fighting, YOU'RE CORRECT! When I served we didn't just fight the enemy, we fought FOR OUR PEOPLE! AMERICAN PEOPLE. From all walks of life.
This young man EXEMPLIFIES acts of DUTY, HONOR, and COUNTRY! HOOAAAH!
I’m crying. Wonderful!
This is the kind of good news we all need. God bless these humble men helping each other!
This should be a lesson to everyone. One small act of kindness might change someones life. 👍
Good point.
I’m in Western Canada and this is one of the most amazing and inspiring stories I have ever heard! Continued success to Scott and a big shout out to all of the great people of Norman Oklahoma!
Shout out to nick for taking the time ...and Thank u bro for ur service 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Perfect example of why our military is the greatest in the world, thank you all for your service.
what that have to do with anything
@willjoe4469 in America, we thank the military for anything and everything
Thanking them for killing innocent civilians in Afghanistan, Iraq 🇮🇶 and around the world? You must use your brains 🧠 to think mate
Technically he is National guard so he's part of the state. he's not part of the Federal military
Greatest in invading other countries and killing innocent civilians in iraq 🇮🇶, Afghanistan 🇦🇫 and many other countries around the world? You must be smoking 💩
I live in IN and have now placed this establishment on my bucket list. FANTASTIC story.

His business won't last long after the media hype ends. Small businesses like his usually close down after 5-10 years.
Temporary help to a failing business.
Lovely story.. thank you for doing your part to help this gentleman's business, as well.
I love these feel good stories. And The gentleman telling them is the perfect guy for it. Greeting from Belgium.

Best of luck to this wonderful man & his business! God bless!
Great to hear these positive stories. We really need more of these!
I just love this story! It makes me sad to think of local restaurants near me struggling to bring in customers. Definitely going to prioritize supporting small businesses. 😊
This has happened to a few businesses. Good deal. Citizens helping their communities.
God bless all of these wonderful people! ❤️🇺🇸
tugged at my hear strings and such a great, inspiring story
Love that he made the Thunderbird! The guys a class act. Also expanding corndogs is a great idea.

Hope you had a great time🤗 Bring me a doggie bag!😂 Here where I live upstate.. Dirt Dogs is the small business hot dog shop. Mmmm! Secret sauce😂
Dude went nowhere lol.
Wish I could visit there, too. Love this story.
So glad to see this follow up report! I saw the original post on couple of Veteran's FB pages/groups and sent it to military friends in OK. Being an Army Vet, I sent it to VFW and American Legion contacts there as well. Good to see the business doing well. I'm in Ohio, but, if I could, I would be there.
I’m shocked I just saw this on my feed. I saw the pic on the disgruntled veterans page on fb a while back and glad this guy is doing well!
I love seeing people helping people. This story gives me hope
Such a good news story. I like positive news like this. Oklahomans seem like relatively wholesome, genuine friendly people.

Amen to that.......❤🫡💯💥💥💥💥
I want to see more stories like this out there! Wonderful!!
Betty's 52 the same way Willie is.
I noticed that too.😄 Pretty sure he meant to say “52-year” not “52-year-old”, with the main point being how long she’s lived in Norman, not how long she’s been alive (which I’m guessing is probably about 80 years).😊
Wow, what a lovely story. So much negativity in the press, it's so nice to hear good stories like this. Thank you!
What a beautiful story. I wish we heard more like this every day. Thank you for telling it!
Thank you to the gentleman that put the post out for the the restaurant owner good luck I hope you sell many more
Small businesses like this keep a community going. A source of jobs, and sponsoring local teams and activities. I hope I get to Norman Oklahoma someday and can stop in for a hotdog.
Love the name Spirals! I only wish the best for this place 💖 What a great story (And bless her heart, but Betty is not 52) 😂💖

So glad to hear good news. Hope for continued success!
I’m from California, but just those pictures of the dogs piled high with fixins alone would have so brought me in. The story is just gravy - or maybe relish.
