BC ... the place that strangles fresh young talent.
So true, Canada does this in general, while protecting monopolies and oligopolies.👎
It isn't just B.C.!!!! I bet a province with less clout would treat him better whereas in the U.S. they, on average, would jump at his interest.
Yep. British Columbia is a socialist hellhole. Too much corruption in government. Too much red tape. Too much environmental oversight.
@@user-nc7cf4sp1r after a decade of liberals
@@alexg9727 The Liberals have nothing to do with the fact we only have 2 national TV news channels, or a small number of newspapers, or 1 choice for a landline telephone (Bell) or 2 or 3 choices for Cable TV or Cell phones or internet, or only 5 banks, or 1 electricity provider, or 2 airlines. Our government regardless of Conservative or Liberal party doesn't allow a free market to make the cost of living in this country cheaper! They have both continuously allowed these corporations almost unlimited power to charge whatever they want! ☹👎We are getting ripped off!
The fact that you can't get a rebate for retrofitting an already made truck but are forced to create a whole new truck tells me this whole thing is not about the environment. If a truck is already built you dont use as much fossil fuel or materials. which has to be better for the environment.
I'm so glad these great guys at Edison motors came forward.
Triple frikken bingo. There is a serious tell.
yeah...people forget we can "recycle" vehicles too. it's sometimes called restoration :P
(Chase hasn't thought widely enough - the resto, with a new compliance plate IS a new build... bingo..)
It’s 100% about money and having a political angle.
Watch the new short, retrofits have the same benefits as new vehicles now
Welcome to Canada....... proudly exporting great ideas one government clusterf*ck at a time.
So typical of Canadian government, talk lots about it but really do nothing. Then leave it for the Americans to grab up and run with it. Chase and his team have done a remarkable job and I'm proud of this canadian invention
While the politicians line their and their friends pockets.
Americans won't grab it up and run with it. They will steal it and shut it down. The governors that are "courting" him are liberal state governors and they ALL want fuel powered rigs abolished so they are not trying to expand his technology. Look at the gas powered vehicle removal legislation in those states... it is a trap.
If People who can actually make a difference Show up with empty pockets, It's almost miraculous if they get ahead.
Young entrepreneur has an amazing product and process.... Government just gets in the Way despite claiming they are here to help
Canada voted for the tards they have in office. Nobody to blame but themselves. Granted, we're not much better here in America right now, but we're changing a lot of things up in November :) T24
Edison should leave Canada, our government will do nothing for innovation.
Alberta has a better business environment than this socialist hell.
I know what you mean, but I pray to god they don’t and the Canadian government starts to invest in our future.
no they should stay ... and KEEP the tech here ... leaving would be just like losing all the aerospace tech jobs back in the 50's when Diefenbaker killed the arrow and destroyed our aerospace industry ... here it will stay focused ... in the states it will become profit over function ... and turn into junk ... like everything the american industry touches now ..
Agreed
Sad BC doesn't recognize the boys have heaps of opportunity down here.
And I really don't think they'd be hobbled by our types of government.
Been keeping an eye on all this and it's frustrating to watch.
this is so bad , the NDP are doing nothing to help people create jobs
sorry friend but yer wrong, ...ever had a whole big Canadian Country pat you on the back?
edison has capthured the Canadian Man,...the didnt Axe the Tax, ...They BUILT Something
you can still see wyat that looks like in southern Ontario,.....
oil dont give you special powers and its the 21stcentury
Edison Motors are World LEADERS.
They want us to be impoverished slaves.
The NDP have no idea how to create jobs or manage an economy. Just create a communist state, control peoples behavior and spend money 💰. You haven't figured that out yet!? Why do you think they've never been elected at the Federal level? They would bankrupt us! 😠👎
stop being partisan, it is the system... It thrives as it is, for no other "end" but simply existing...
@@kadmow It's not partisan it's fact. NDP party policies have always been anit-capitalist. It's a socialist party. They always increase taxes, then increase social programs and favour unions (which in turn become too powerful). They already damaged Ontario decades ago when they were in power. Why the hell do you think they can't get elected at the Federal level? Most intelligent Canadians know they will destroy our economy. That's why Bob Rae left the party and became a Liberal MP. Better job prospects. That tells you all you need to know. 🤨👎
Chace is the best Canadian rep there ever could be
He is a good one to be sure.
Man forget this country build the business wherever.
Opportunity will come when one of the government's whether its provincial or federal finally wakes up and realizes there's other people chomping at the bit and they are about to miss out on all that revenue
This young man makes it clear that if you are hard working, entrepreneurial and want to build a better, cleaner future that B.C. is not the place to live. I hope we see a return to sanity.
Canada is NOT the place for entrepreneurs! 👎

I've been following Chace and the Edison team for a good while now, and they are truly the real deal. Just some good BC boys looking to make life easier for people who use trucks every day, that's all. The environmental benefits are a bonus, too, but at the end of the day it's about building a better mousetrap. More power, safer for the operator, better for the planet. There's no stopping these guys, despite the best efforts of shady BC politicians.
so what's your take on EV's ?
Chace messed up the grant application. He says so in his videos about the subject. Grant applications are NEVER given out to people who mess up the application process, regardless of how great their product is.
Chace ... saying out loud what every common sense BCer is thinking
came here to listen to Chase ,would like to comment on the interviewers professionalism, he asks and he fully listen and waits for a proper pose. subscribed!
Go where you’re treated best.
Wow amazing patriot and amazing business innovation....
How stupid and sad Canada is becoming with that WEF coalition government....😢😢😢😢😢
This isn't about the environment is it?
Never. In the States, the emissions limits are so low that they cannot build a small pickup truck without hybrid component anymore. But if you just make the truck bigger, all of a sudden you don't need to do anything. Ford Ranger is now the size of the old F150. So, the gas guzzling trucks and SUVs get bigger and bigger perfectly meeting the EPA requirements saving the environment one mpg at a time. Gross.
B.C. ... breaking spirits one at a time.
The main issues he's dealing with are his own mistakes on the grant applications, and then problems buying commercial land. The second issue could be solved via a variety of speculator taxes, but people then complain about more taxes. You people need to make up your minds.
@@downhillupsidewhat mistakes did he make? And if you want to call pointing out a corrupt Grant system a mistake then you are part of the problem.
Great job Chace! 👏 Would you rather be a proud Canadian and poor, unable to secure a future for your family or a wealthy Canadian in the U.S? You owe this country (and us) nothing! Keep going, head to Arizona and don't look back. Success! 👍
Great interview. Come on BC give Edison motors a grant. Give them crown land if need be.
Nah, that's all reserved for future native appeasement. 🤨
They offered it to him but he would have to give 20% to the NDP's laundry machine LLP firm to get the grant. You may have missed just why he has become noticed.
They would have had their grant if they didn't mess up the application.
@@DirtyDog995 Incorrect. He messed up the first grant applications. The accounting firm that he was talking to suggested he apply for DIFFERENT grants that they DID NOT administer, and that they could therefore help him with. The level of misinformation being spread by internet morons is pretty frustrating.
@@downhillupside Wrong the firm is a backroom part of the provincial government. Quit shilling for the NDP
Texas near Laredo would be my choice. The best corporate and no personal income tax with access to Monterrey MX booming manufacturing sector. Under NAFTA, you can source components on both sides of the border and export to Canada. If I were Edison, I would talk to Abbott and ask: "AZ came with an offer, what are the options for coming to TX?"
The interviewer was very professional. This government needs to go
What a great interview. Informative and straight to the point, I appreciate you allowing Chace to tell his story.
Such an impressive entrepreneur! Sad stat of affairs our country has become. And to think the BC NDP all voted against any investigation on the corruption of MNP. But I guess that tells you a lot.
Amazing interview! Thank you for highlighting how messed up things have become for innovators and entrepreneurs in BC and even Canada at large. It's become evident the government doesn't actually care about helping clean energy startups and businesses that make sense for us economically AND environmentally. They just care about the money (and kickbacks).
This is why we can't have nice things. Unfortunately this is par for the course, Canadians develop amazing things all the time but we will never know because the Canadian government drives them off. The government has a long history of killing innovation and talent in this country. It's honestly getting sickening. I would gladly pay more for made in Canada products. Try to find any (aside from locally made maple syrup mmmm).
Remember the Avro Arrow? 🛬💥☹️👎
His story is resonant reason Canada is in trouble. Our Prov & Fed gov feel like their kicking us in the nuts.
Own nothing and be quiet.
Liberal/NDP want governments to own everything just like China.
They are kicking people/businesses in the balls.
People like this create jobs and should be courted.
it would be such a shame if the BC gov snubs Edison Motors and lets them leave.
Maybe Edison is a mid-size business right now… but the funny thing about some mid-size businesses is they can become huge.
The Canadian government needs to get their act together. Stop pushing businesses out of the country. Invest in the future.
Wow I can't even believe that a news Outlet did this interview with this fine young man. I'm shocked stunned this this is a fabulous Canadian when I seen him it's the first hope I felt in a long time in this country
The government should be behind retrofitting existing trucks to electric more than buying new. Or do they need to relearn "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"?
The carbon foot print of a truck thats already built vs new alone makes it make sense.
BC needs forward thinkers, like Chase!

Hello from the south Okanagan. Thanks for the video shedding a light on both homegrown BC talent - kudos and homegrown BC bureaucratic red tape and nonsense - no kudos. Let us hope enough of us here in BC who vote are paying attention.
Yup...our Canadian government is gonna wet the bed on this one too.....money talks. He is in da drivers seat and in charge
US Governors see the federal subsidies that Edison can bring.
I think it was Arizona that was offering complete immigration for the Truckers of the Freedom Convoy...
Why didn't they go then?
Wow nice job guys now this battle is over , enjoy Arizona man 🥴🤠
Go USA, man. Pi$$ on Canada. And I am a Canadian. Go with the revenue/profit flow. Our country is in awful shape and go somewhere where you are appreciated. Unfortunately, we will have to wait more than another year to get a decent government in power.
It will take a minimum of 10 to15 years to fix what trudeau has done!
Good job woke environmentalists of BC force a brilliant entrepreneur and inventor out of Canada.
Edison Motors is an EV company they are pro-environment. In the video he complained about companies that were just flipping land and inflating prices, these companies are not environmentalists they are good old capitalists.
I live in Canada and started a very successful business. The amount of red tape and municipal BS to build comerical spaces is staggering. A lot of truth in what he says about starting, running and growing a business in Canada.
The big wigs in the industry will kill him with their economies of scale.
He should move to Arizona. Sad to say.
I love how Chace touches on how fucked up the land speculation is for small businesses and everyday people, we need Land Value Taxes and to stop rewarding land speculation in this country.
So, you want more taxes on people. Farmers, business owners, retired people? Just what we all need, more taxes.
@@fredbecker607 as Chase said that land sits vacant for decades, investors just hoarding it. It should be expensive to buy land for speculation only and do not make any use of it (like building homes, farming, or for industrial/commercial use).
So you want a tax on investors buying land and then flipping for a capital gain. This is exactly what the Federal budget that was just announced increased. They increased the tax on capital gains over $250K.
The blame lies with the cities. Most don’t have enough land zoned for industrial development.
Perhaps mandate high-value land be used within a certain amount of time after purchase.
You bought that farmland, now you're gonna farm on it or we'll tax TF outta ya.
Run to the states! Don't look back.
Go, run, Get out or here while you can.
Sad, but true.
Your ideas are revolutionary, keep up the good work !!!! I need a hat !!!!
If not come to Alberta
Alberta is still crazy expensive compared to the states. But it is better than BC.
Yes but we are one of the only provinces that have the finances to do it and I'm sure taxes on business are a little bit better out here plus I bet there some kind of provincial funding for green company like his
He certainly should move his company to the States. Lots of capital and a friendlier business environment.
Great innovation Chace hybrid electric no charging station required 👍

Amazing human eh!
The Premier of BC should instantly call this guy up and try and match the deal the American's are offering!!
This only shows, all the legislation and taxation is not about helping the environment
Amazing, that is the clear difference between Canadian & US business support. And he's right, it is gross. And it's one story after another of great business' faced with leaving Canada for greener pastures. Canada has a pathetic & disgusting business environment.
This is why I have little faith in the overall carbon reduction movement. The private sector can create excellent solutions, but usually ends up regulated out of the market, or undermined by subsidies granted to preferred companies and methods of a select list of operators. Most of us would embrace the automotive evolution to cleaner engines if it didn't involve highly expensive purchases, and always online sensor filled vehicles relaying our data to unknown entities.
Let me retrofit my 1999 Corolla for a reasonable price and subsidy, and perhaps the future wouldn't seem so bleak. An EV is not a reasonable expense for many struggling Canadians. Adding more debt to a nation overwhelmed by rising costs and inflation is foolish.
thanks for covering this
Man keep vigilant.
i used too build locomotives, glad too see someone use the same idea and calling bs too gov scaams
Back in '85... Waterloo Ont.... had an industrial park open up on Frobisher... 35k per acre... you had 3 years to build on it... or you had to give it back... I went residential instead... because that was a hotter market... but the city did it right... industrial buildings got built... big... and small...
Back in '63, my parents bought a 1/4 section (160 acres) in central Alberta from the Crown at a public auction and paid $11.75/acre. Since Canada still has unbelievable amounts of Crown land that is not being utilized, why doesn't the public have access to it? If anyone is interested in a piece of vacant Crown land, it should be put up for public auction. When more land is made available, there will be be far fewer speculators driving the prices out of reach.
Hope the BC Gov gets behind you bud! Keep fighting the good fight!
I would love for Edison to make trucks so that one day I could own a truck made from commonly found parts. I would a "f150" or "Ram 1500"-style truck from them. CANADA BUILT!!
Can you say government kickbacks
Way to go Edison. Conversely, Canada's lack of productivity is exemplified by the attitude of the local government.
The NDP provincial government has always been for taxing small business and making their lives as miserable as possible. Now for pro union firms they get handed a large share of any government funded work and small or private firms are shut out. Small business employees around 43% of workers in the province and are treated like a tax funding base for all of the NDP’s ridiculous policies that drag the economy down further yet. BC stands for Bring Cash after all.
I hope you stay here in BC too , it can hopefully get better.
I would use the tri state area centred on Spokane but having idaho and montana as a back door with Canada as a deep ally
Glad for Edison Motors! Please keep in mind what happened to "TUCKER" in the US.

Keep your head quarters in BC, come build the trucks in Manitoba. Our premier would love this I bet.
He just needs to hold on for ~2 more years until a new government can get elected; one more business-friendly and less WEF socialist.
