The fact that you can't get a rebate for retrofitting an already made truck but are forced to create a whole new truck tells me this whole thing is not about the environment. If a truck is already built you dont use as much fossil fuel or materials. which has to be better for the environment.

This is why I have little faith in the overall carbon reduction movement. The private sector can create excellent solutions, but usually ends up regulated out of the market, or undermined by subsidies granted to preferred companies and methods of a select list of operators. Most of us would embrace the automotive evolution to cleaner engines if it didn't involve highly expensive purchases, and always online sensor filled vehicles relaying our data to unknown entities.
Let me retrofit my 1999 Corolla for a reasonable price and subsidy, and perhaps the future wouldn't seem so bleak. An EV is not a reasonable expense for many struggling Canadians. Adding more debt to a nation overwhelmed by rising costs and inflation is foolish.

I went residential instead... because that was a hotter market... but the city did it right... industrial buildings got built... big... and small...

Back in '63, my parents bought a 1/4 section (160 acres) in central Alberta from the Crown at a public auction and paid $11.75/acre. Since Canada still has unbelievable amounts of Crown land that is not being utilized, why doesn't the public have access to it? If anyone is interested in a piece of vacant Crown land, it should be put up for public auction. When more land is made available, there will be be far fewer speculators driving the prices out of reach.

The NDP provincial government has always been for taxing small business and making their lives as miserable as possible. Now for pro union firms they get handed a large share of any government funded work and small or private firms are shut out. Small business employees around 43% of workers in the province and are treated like a tax funding base for all of the NDP’s ridiculous policies that drag the economy down further yet. BC stands for Bring Cash after all.
