I'm actually about to buy this chip. If ain't broken, don't fix it. (Currently rocking a i7-6700 x GTX 1080, so this is a decent upgrade for me for only $130)
@ConsensusX lemme know how big of a difference you feel because I got similar things like a 1070ti and i5 9400f and I'm wondering if getting past that 3ghz is actually game changing and stops stutters
@@kolt7385 big difference for me. Especially for doing regular tasks and browsing. Everything seems to load faster and snappier. Also Adobe apps stutter less for me. Gaming-wise, I haven't seen too big of a performance boost.

I loved my i7 9700K, it was a gaming beast. Unfortunately, the motherboard it was with had an issue, so I had to upgrade without a lot of money. I came across a steal of a deal on an Asus rog maximus xii motherboard for about $100 and an Intel i7 10700k for $50, and was able to swap everything else over from my old system. As far as I can tell, in games it's either the same, or slightly faster than my old chip, but doing anything involving multi threaded apps, it's quite a bit faster. Paired with my RTX 4070 Super, it's a gaming beast and will last for a few more years until intel sorts out it's issues with oxidation etc on the 13th and 14th Gen chips. Waiting for 15th Gen, but in the meantime, this system does everything I need.
@@jonr7364 you won't run into any bottlenecks if you're playing at 1440p, or 4K, and that set up can easily run games at 1440p on ultra, and 4K on high. If you're running on 1080p, only rarely you'll hit any sort of bottleneck, and only on a few games, and even then it's not much of a bottleneck. The i7-10700K or i9 10900K (I upgraded, got the i9 for free from a friend moving to a Ryzen) and 4070 Super are a pretty good match. You'd probably have a higher bottleneck with a 4070ti Super or above, but the 4070 Super is a great card and can run almost anything you throw at it now. I'd be a bit worried about the 14th and 13th Gen K processors, so I'll stick with my tenth Gen for the time being. The i7 & i9 are pretty much neck and neck at gaming. In fact my i7 10700K was slightly faster than the i9. I've been told that if you disable hyperthreading in the i9 you improve performance by about 10%. I wonder if the same would be true of the i7...
Still using mine with a 4060 to play at 4K with DLSS. It’s acceptably good most of the time, but does get a bit laggy when tonnes of polys are being thrown at the screen.
@@TheErazar I played through around 150 hours of Horizon: Forbidden West with that setup, at 1080 upscaled to 4K with DLSS. Most of the time the framerate was good enough for me. There were a few places where the total poly count from machines and environment was sufficiently large that you started to feel it in the framerate, with perceivable slowdown. Basically in more complex locations where there was simultanously a larger number of machines in play. It wasn't enough to spoil the overall experience; 95% of the time I felt things were fine. I did also have a bunch of quality settings at the lower end (again, didn't really affect my experience). My understanding is the frame rate at 1080 upscaled to 4K with DLSS is going to be superior to playing at 1440 with no DLSS. I found the DLSS upscaling very good, so you might want to try setting a game to render at 1080 and upscale to 1440 with DLSS if that's an option. Your frame rate will probably be substantially better than playing at 1440 natively. DLSS is a bona fide game changer in my opinion. (I can't speak for AMD's FSR equivalent as I've never tried it directly.)
how bad was it cuz i have the 6950xt and a 9700k its doing horrible in warzone bottlekneck crazy wont go over 135 fps cpu usage 100% gpu power jumps around
@@bankhead832 I have an rtx 3060 ti for now paired with my 9700k. I play at 1440p, and it doesn't matter if I have the graphics settings on high or low, the cpu usage stays at 90 ish to 100% most of the time. Occasionally in certain areas the gpu will be at 100% and the cpu will not be then the gameplay is smooth for like a minute but that usually doesn't happen. So, my gpu is mostly not being fully utilized cuz of the cpu bottleneck. If I had a 4k monitor, it would help with the cpu bottlenecks, but it might be about time to get a new cpu when intel 15th gen releases. I only ever have cpu bottlenecks in next gen only games, otherwise it's fine. It even struggled in Alan Wake 2 and that is a next gen only game.
@bankhead832 yeh its pretty bad especially when the game gets cpu intensive, my gpu chills out hard. Uses about 260w most of the time, think the 7900xt can chew 380w at 100% usage. My cpu is constantly at 100% tho, im wanting to get a 7800x3d in gaming there's not much thatll beat them.
I love my i7-9700! I do sometimes wish I had the unlocked K version, but it's still super performant! I've got a GTX 1080 8GB and they both compliment each other pretty well, sometimes the GPU does fall behind though. Even still, plenty powerful, to even warrant a GPU upgrade!
I'm running this CPU since launch and have it paired with a RTX 3080 but it's getting a bit long in the tooth for 4K gaming. I'm passing this entire build to a younger sibling who's currently gaming at 2K with an i7-6700K and GTX 1080 Ti. I'm waiting to build Arrow Lake and RTX 5080.
I bought a 4090 to replace my 2080ti in my rig. I had a 4090 and 9700k combo for a year so I have a good idea of the overall performance. Just upgraded to a 9800x3d this month and the difference is night and day. My FPS either doubled or the 1% lows disappeared in all games at 1440p.
Hey do you mind sharing what games you were playing that saw this improvement? I am thinking about upgrading but not sure if I am getting CPU bottleneck with 9700k and 4070. Th
Unfortunately that's the real story in 2025. Yes the 9700K is still capable of giving good average fps but what ruins it compared to modern CPU's on the market is a lot more stuttering.
9th and even 10/11th gen Intel was a pretty good CPU time - but they became complacent imo more generally. Great video though. Can't wait for the full review
My "new" rig, as I don't game much, is using an I7 9700K, 32DDR4 dual channel, and Intel ARC A750(make sure mobo has resizeable bar, but PCI-E 3 or 4 is shockingly not much different). My second PC is a stellar performing I7 3970X Extreme with GTx 1070OC. Running 4.4GHz and 1600 Corsair Performance DDR3 quad channel.
i'm currently using i7 4790 and i'm really happy w itit's really good cpu but i think time has come to upgrade it so i was thinking about i7 11700kf,but before any oc i need to do that someone did w this i7 4790somebody did undervolting it,cause it works overclocked up to 4ghz without problem and iddling at 32c and under load not over 55cseeing your rewiew of i7 11700 makes me think i need to undervolt him tooand due to lower price of this 11th gen gem looks like good deal. What do you think? Manny ppl said to me go for amd but,i love something about Intel that preventing me from shifting.
If you’re going to be building a new system and the new parts are available to you, then a Ryzen 5 5600x would provide a similar experience, but not everyone has am4 boards available in their region. If you’ve got a good deal for an 11700k and have everything else (like the motherboard and the ram), then it’s a great chip. But if you need to buy everything still, then I’d just go with the newer parts from AMD or even 12th gen Intel if they are available
@ProceuTech i7 11700 is the last cpu without e cores, which are mostly uselles and just a bloat..12th gen is more than double the price of 11th gen..amd still looks like a huge uplift from intel, bit why am i forcing my self for intel i really don't know.
4080 and 9700k OC to 5.10 GHZ here and no need to upgrade at all. Still getting over 80fps in 4k native using DLAA. And DLSS performance mode is there so no need to upgrade fellas.
I'm hinking to upgrade my gtx 1070 to a rtx 4070 super. Online people seem to complain they're getting bottlenecked by the 9700k when running it with a 4070S or 4080. Would you say it's fine?
Thanks for the video. I was very aware my 4070 super was bottlenecked by my 9700k by 20-30% even in 1440p. As someone who enjoys high refreshrates, i'm now painfully aware! Loading times in CPU intensive games is a huge difference between me and my friends, like Total war Warhammer 3, they get out and inside of combats 10-15 seconds ahead. Holding out to see what the new intel core ultra series 2 and ryzen 9800x3d has to offer before making a call.
I have Ivy Bridge i5-3570, considering an upgrade to an used PC having this, seems cheap atm in India, some refurbished corporate desktops are available. :)
I still have this since it released. Mine can overclock to 5.1 on a $50 asrock motherboard lmao. I think its a great processor and dont see me upgrading for another few years probably, unless my motherboard craps out but its been overclocked since i got it and my temps never get above 80° so i dont see anything bad happening. I do remember being pissed it has no hyperthreading. To my knowledge, it is like the only i7 ever released to not have it but it works so damn well. Currently running 32gb 3200 mhz ram, 3070 gpu and the processor at 5.1. Run every game i play at 144 fps +, cant ask for much more to be honest.
I've been using the 9700K since 2020, now with a 4070 Super before that it was the 2080 Ti and I'm still very happy with the 9700K. Don't know any reason why I should buy a new CPU?
The 9700k is SEVERELY bottlenecking your 4070, the fps loss is definitely substantial, I dont know how you didnt know it would bottleneck it. I have a 3060 and its bottlenecked from this old cpu, you should consider upgrading IMMEDIATELY as am I, because your 4070 was a waste if you dont essentially.
@@qgpx Hello, I don't know what you're doing, but my 4070 Super is constantly at 99% load when I'm gaming. Therefore the 9700K is not a bottleneck, I also play in 4K and the graphics card is limiting anyway. I don't buy anything new, it would be a complete waste of money.
my build is from 2019: ASUS Prime Z370 P-II, I7 9700k, 16 GB RAM, 2 HDDs (no SSD), nVidia gtx1650. only this year i wanted to buy a new PC with i7 14700k but had to return it to the vendor dze to massive instability problems. So am back to my old build now and (though the HDDs are slow) everything is super ***stable*** - i do not game much but even Microsoft FlightSimulator 2020 works smoothly. (yes i know it requires mainly GPU usage); i sometimes do a few days of BOINC calculation for medical projects like Rosetta@Home and the processor does its job. In the BIOS / UEFI however i did DISABLE the Turbo, so it never clocks above 3,6GHz ant therefore never really gets hot. HWINFO64 tells me that overal power is about 55W if all cores are in use (not always with AvX) and i set SVID behaviour to AUTO and pretty much everything else to AUTO. And until now great build, probably will use it for the next 5y or so
i7-9700K 5Ghz and 3090Ti here and oh damn I don't feel like the 9700K is still great. Have hard time playing some games in 1440p when the 3090Ti is at less than 40% usage and the CPU at 90% and more and only 70°C. Maybe it's my mobo, the Z370-A Pro was a cheap choice, but who knows
Yeah odds are its the CPU. My guess is that some of the games you're playing leverage hyperthreading which the i7 can't take advantage of. If you can find a decent price on an i9 and sell the i7, it could be a worthwhile upgrade, but with a 3090Ti, your best bet is a better platform.
@@MentinkPC Yeah, single-core games work hella fine, but whenever a game have multi-core or hyperthreading support it goes down. I plan to get my hands on at least a 14700K, and if price are good a 14900K would be great as I also do some video and 3D render.
I've got this chip in my build with a RTX 2070 GPU. Its good for most games but not good at the AAA single player like the last of us for example. I've guessed it might just be the 8GB Vram on the GPU but I don't know what to pair with this CPU, if you have any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks.

I bough a I7 9700 yesterday to upgrade my pc without changing my motherboard and to keep the rest of the setup. I hope the new acquisition could increase the usability of my 2019 PC for more 5 years. My processor (before the change) is the i5 8400. It was good untill now, but my workflow with video editing, gaming or other tasks is too big for it. Good boy, is time to retire you.
Upgrade to team red, I just got a heavily discounted 7900xt and it's an absolute beast in 3440x1440p. I got an average of 180fps in robocop rogue city on ultra
4060 is a crap GPU, don't buy it. Either go with 4070 Super or 7800 XT or even 7900 XT, depending on prices in your region. That said, there are new GPUs to be released soon from both nvidia and AMD so it might be a good idea to wait a bit more and see how the situation looks like. It may also cause the previous gen cards to drop in price, but that's not guaranteed.
How does the 9700k compare to newer processors in 4k with a GPU that is in the 4080 and above class range? I'm looking to upgrade my pc to be able to handle 4k gaming. Don't know if the 9700k can handle 4080 class GPUs even at 4k high settings.
I have 9700f and when i play more GPU oriented games it doesn't struggle(because I have rtx 3070) but when I want to play basic game as Minecraft and I dare to download just one mod that's a little bigger it is always 100% on CPU.
Contemplating upgrading my 9700k. I got mine paired with a 3080ti and haven't experienced a since issue except with dragons dogma 2. but with the performance of the 7800x3d it's got me curious lol. I just can't justify the cost of the processor right now especially since they've gone up in price and I'd still need a new motherboard and ram.
Cpu is a beast for what it is.. i have 2 lol one in my main rig and another one im just building to sell.. i picked up the spare chip and b360 strix motherboard with 32gb rgb ddr4 and a 1tb nvme and a corsair cx650m for 100 euros.. i then ordered an ionz case and thermalright cooler for 80 euros delivered and it stands me like 180 something euros total without a gpu.. match that price to performance.. LOL
Hey Man, thanks for the video. I'm using this CPU and i wanna upgrade my GPU. I'm not quite sure which GPU to use. I overclocked the CPU, so it runs with 4,9GHz. I was thinking buying the RTX 4060 ti super 16GB. Will the CPU bottleneck? It will be the last systemupgrade i will do, before switching to a new PC. Im quite Happy with the system. I'm using it for almost 7 Years now (cost back than 3700€). Maybe u can help. the Bottleneck calculator is telling me that with my RTX 2060 the CPU is bottlenecking 24%, but i know that cant be true. Maybe you can help
From experience, a 4060ti will definitely bottleneck if you’re playing at 1080p competitive settings, but if you’re looking to do 1440p it shouldn’t provide too many issues. I tested the 9700k with a 4070, and it definitely bottlenecked, but raising the resolution helps to put more strain on the GPU and give your CPU some more time to compute frames
@@onboard4793 with a 2060 Super, I don't think you'll see huge uplifts with an i7 9700k. If I were you and wanting an upgrade, second hand Ryzen 5000 chips are a great deal and will be a better choice IMO.
In some games you might notice a few percentage points in favor of the 9700k, but I only found that because the 9700k clocks a little higher than the 8700k. The 8700k would probably be the better all around choice if you plan on doing thread heavy work though
Some games like having extra threads and can properly parallelize- while others may just not to the same degree. Games designed for the Xbox One and PS4 will probably parallelize up to 8 threads, simply because that’s how many cores the consoles had at the time. It’s really a case by case kind of observation.
@ProceuTech i gotcha. I'll go with the safe option then. Maybe in the future I'll try a 9700k just to see how it goes without HT. I compare all the same games so it'll be pretty interesting.
Hi there, could you explore this chip in comparison to other 9th gen chips? I'm currently gaming on a budget and have recently upgraded very cheaply to a 9600k. What kind of performance gains does the 9700k get over the 9600k? And how far does it lag behind the 9900k?
i have 9700kf @ 4800 mhz on asus strix z390-f its worth to keep it and only upgrade my 3080 to 5070 RTX? if that CPU will be enought for this GPU and 2k monitors gaming?
I've seen benchmark videos where the i7 9700k matches and sometimes surpasses the i7 12700k , I wouldn't change my i7 9700k for anything as it's fine at 1440p .
Video editing demands good multi threaded CPU performance and plenty of RAM on higher resolution editing. On paper, the 4790 wins thanks to multi threaded performance. But the 8100 have greater allround system stability, compatibility with DDR4 RAM and windows 11 support, so I think that the 8100 processor is a decent choice in your case. From Geekbench: i5-6500 Single thread 1200 Multithread 3270 - Cores/threads 4/4 - DDR4/DDR3 RAM - Year 2015 - Windows 10 I3 8100 Single thread 1266 Multithread 3467 - Cores/threads 4/4 - DDR4 RAM - Year 2017 - Windows 10/11* Win 11 If motherboard supports TPM (probably does) i7-4790 Single thread 1244 Multithread 3896 - Cores/threads 4/8 - DDR3 RAM - Year 2014 - Windows 10 The 4790 thanks to being hyperthreaded, is the more powerful CPU. With 8 instead of 4 threads. But it's also the oldest one from 2014 and you're stuck on windows 10, if that's an issue. The 8100 might not be as fast in multi threaded loads, but it's a good choice since it should offer more modern features and stability, being DDR4 RAM and windows 11 compatible.
@@ProceuTech I have a b365 board with i5 8500. Thinking about upgrading to maybe b550m or b650m. Other option is to maintain the board and go for i7 9700k but then again my board can't overclock so I'll be stuck with stock clocks

I would say no. that resolution probably means your monitor has a cap of 75Hz maximum if it isn't 60, which means as of right now, your i5 is overkill and with the 2060. Check out some high refresh rate 1080p monitors, there are a lot of great sales right now.
The 7700k would work with the motherboard you’ve got currently, however the 9700k is the stronger chip if you’re wanting to do anything other than gaming. I’d personally go for the 9700k, but be aware you’ll need a new motherboard
It probably wouldn’t if you’re playing something like Fortnite or Apex Legends, or even something slightly newer like CoD. But in other games like Helldivers and Cyberpunk, it will start to struggle more
Not a bad video, but if I might offer some constructive criticism? Speak more clearly and confidently. Almost every sentence trails off at the end and it can be hard to hear what you are saying. Yes and no. Part of me wants to say yes, because it honestly is a great upgrade from the 6700k, even if the thread count hasn’t increased. However, what’s holding me back from giving a glowing recommendation, is the fact that you’ll need to upgrade your motherboard to use this chip.
Not worth a penny honestly struggles to play cold war half the time. It may stutter, it may lag, or the frame pacing may be thrown out the window. It may have good overall performance, and decent 1% lows, but the .01% lows are unforgivable in many cases. What a shame
@@magikkris I've owned this CPU since it came out, and I have found every way to maximize performance on this CPU. It's an acceptable CPU in old games from last Gen as long as you are locking your frames to 60 because of how bad it can stutter past that, but in almost every new game it collapses under the weight of complex scenes. Locking the fps to 45 seems to eliminate most of the performance issues the CPU has by giving it some breathing room, but the CPU is so dated that it clearly shouldn't even be recommended for budget builds especially seeing as the 8/9th gen platform has been dead for years. You would need to replace your mobo, ram, and CPU to upgrade past this 9700k. And it can only really use ram up to 2666mhz
this is rather bs, if you'd want to show something you'd show the gpu usage as well. I got a 9700k and 4070ti and i really need to upgrade cpu. For example in BF2042 i get around 30-40% gpu usage. There are very few games who use the gpu over 90% on majority im still bottlenecked around 50-60% gpu. It may offer a good performance overall because the gpu is beefy but its like playing with 2070 or 2080S on the games that are not GPU heavy so you're not getting your money's worth for a 4070 which is kinda sad. Oh and yes im speaking about 1080p gaming here

Waiting for 15th Gen, but in the meantime, this system does everything I need.

got the same config, i bought a 4070 super and was curious if i was going to run into any significant bottlenecks. what is your experience with it?
10700k+3080 here
@@jonr7364 you won't run into any bottlenecks if you're playing at 1440p, or 4K, and that set up can easily run games at 1440p on ultra, and 4K on high.
@Gábor-w5b good set up.
Still using mine with a 4060 to play at 4K with DLSS. It’s acceptably good most of the time, but does get a bit laggy when tonnes of polys are being thrown at the screen.
be sure you have turbo boost on and running 4.9ghz
in what kind of games does it get laggy? I have 4060 and thinking about pairing it with 9700k for 1440p

Would it still be better than the 8700k with today's games due to lack of HT?
In some games you might notice a few percentage points in favor of the 9700k, but I only found that because the 9700k clocks a little higher than the 8700k. The 8700k would probably be the better all around choice if you plan on doing thread heavy work though

Some games like having extra threads and can properly parallelize- while others may just not to the same degree. Games designed for the Xbox One and PS4 will probably parallelize up to 8 threads, simply because that’s how many cores the consoles had at the time. It’s really a case by case kind of observation.

But the 8100 have greater allround system stability, compatibility with DDR4 RAM and windows 11 support, so I think that the 8100 processor is a decent choice in your case. From Geekbench:
i5-6500 Single thread 1200 Multithread 3270 - Cores/threads 4/4 - DDR4/DDR3 RAM - Year 2015 - Windows 10
I3 8100 Single thread 1266 Multithread 3467 - Cores/threads 4/4 - DDR4 RAM - Year 2017 - Windows 10/11* Win 11 If motherboard supports TPM (probably does)
i7-4790 Single thread 1244 Multithread 3896 - Cores/threads 4/8 - DDR3 RAM - Year 2014 - Windows 10
The 4790 thanks to being hyperthreaded, is the more powerful CPU.
Hi! Is this compatible with my z270f?
Unfortunately it is not
Is upgrading from an i5 8500 worth it? or I should change the board for a newer cpu
What board?
@@ProceuTech I have a b365 board with i5 8500. Thinking about upgrading to maybe b550m or b650m. Other option is to maintain the board and go for i7 9700k but then again my board can't overclock so I'll be stuck with stock clocks
@QwecySlim you’d probably be better off going with a lower end current gen chip on a modern ddr4 platform, or even am5 if you can stretch it
@@ProceuTech Sure. Thanks
Great work!... just what i wanted to know... im looking for a windows 11 friendly side-grade from my i7-5960x looks like the right match just gotta get a bargain cpu
Aww thinking to buy this ofc used from FB marketplace, but does it really worth the upgrade from 9400f?
My spec
i5 9400f
16gb ram (8x2 @3200)
2060 6gb
Z390 Gaming Plus
550W PSU
I mainly played CS2 and after seeing the performance i’m a bit disappointed with the results.. i’m on 1280x960 res with medium settings on my i5 and have a avg of 170-210fps
In CS2 it won’t be because that’s a single thread reliant game
I would say no. that resolution probably means your monitor has a cap of 75Hz maximum if it isn't 60, which means as of right now, your i5 is overkill and with the 2060. Check out some high refresh rate 1080p monitors, there are a lot of great sales right now.
@@MentinkPC i'm a 4:3 with that res user on a 165hz monitor (EX2510S)
could anyone reccomend a good power supply for this cpu a powerspec motherboard and a 2060 super?
I'm currently running an i5 6600 and R9 380X. I've got a deal on a 6700 XT, should I upgrade to a 7700k or 9700k?
The 7700k would work with the motherboard you’ve got currently, however the 9700k is the stronger chip if you’re wanting to do anything other than gaming. I’d personally go for the 9700k, but be aware you’ll need a new motherboard
@@ProceuTech thanks! So the 7700k would not bottleneck the 6700xt in games?
It probably wouldn’t if you’re playing something like Fortnite or Apex Legends, or even something slightly newer like CoD. But in other games like Helldivers and Cyberpunk, it will start to struggle more
@@mohsin_sait If you would look to get a different motherboard anyway, check out used prices on AM4 or LGA 1700
Upgrade to 12400F and new ddr4 mobo. Better CPU than 9700k
Not a bad video, but if I might offer some constructive criticism? Speak more clearly and confidently. Almost every sentence trails off at the end and it can be hard to hear what you are saying. It’s like you are doing this weird vocal fry thing at the end of your sentences. It almost sounds like you are trying to be quiet, like there are other people in the house and you don’t want them to hear you. It was very distracting.
Otherwise, it was a well put together and informative video. Keep it up man.
My bad, you caught on to the fact that I was recording this when I shouldn’t have been 🙏
My buddy has an rtx 2080 and an i7 9700k. Temperatures are great but helldivers 2 will only run at 50-30 fps no matter the settings. (No it's not a gpu bottleneck because ive tested a GTX 1080 and r5 3600 and get 80-60 fps and that pc should be worse in every way)
Strange, what kind of cooling is your friend using?
@ProceuTech 360mm aio. Temps were around 55-60c at 4.8-4.9 GHz 🤷
@@ProceuTechrtx 2080 was at 71c. Just tested again with a GTX 1080 And i5 9600kf and got a consistent 100fps no stutters. His PC will be 50-30 fps and constant stutters and slowdowns every time you move the camera. 16 GB 3200mz in dual channel as well so it's not a single channel issue 😔 he wants to buy a new PC but shouldn't have to. I already did a fresh install of Windows on his Samsung SSD
That’s really weird

I have a i5 8400 paired with RTX 4060, and start lacking some CPU power. Considering if I could get away with getting a i7-9700k or something, so that I don't need to replace my motherboard and save some money...
Motherboards are so expensive these days :( Used to get a decent one for 140 euros in Sweden, now it's 240 euros and then some.
I bought 9700kf on aliexpress at the beginning of the year, instead of my i5 8600kf+ I bought 4060 instead of 1050ti, everything is fine, but in a year or two, I think I will switch to a more modern platform
Motherboards nowadays are more expensive but much better. Just look at a b650 like the livemixer at 150 bucks. If you compare it to an older motherboard there are clear differences everywhere.
@@sdrubaa At least I got SPDIF back then. But generally I can't tell if motherboards were built better back then. What I can say after watching Hardwareunboxed's B650 roundup video that there's a lot of garbage out there and that today's motherboards are at least not necessarily good at all. Even among the most reputable brands.
ASUS used to say "We have the same quality regardless of price bracket, but different features." That aint true nowdays xD
Is this setup good for $350

Thanks! Yeah, it seems like a pretty decent deal. I'm just jumping into my first gaming PC. I think I'll pull the trigger. I eventually want something higher end but this will get me started and I could probably sell it and recoup most of my money based off of what you're saying and some of the research I did
Jai un i7 9700k avec 16gb de ram et une 4080 super et sa run toute les jeux en 4k en ultra a 60 ips et plue
In 2019 😂 I built a setup with ASUS Maximus mb, rtx2080ti and this i7-9700k and it’s still pretty OK today to be honest 🤷🏻♂️ probably should be thinking of an update soon, but in fairness it runs everything still
Running in my rig right now paired with a 4070S. No issues, over 100 fps in every single game high settings 1440p
Just upgraded my i5 8400 to i7 9700k for $110.
A decent upgrade since you’ve got the platform already!
is this worth an upgrade from i7 6700k?
Yes and no. Part of me wants to say yes, because it honestly is a great upgrade from the 6700k, even if the thread count hasn’t increased. However, what’s holding me back from giving a glowing recommendation, is the fact that you’ll need to upgrade your motherboard to use this chip.
i have i7 9700k, rtx 3060, 32 gb ram
Brian
just buy yourself rtx 4070 super and u are good next 2-3 years on 1440p
Apex has a 300 FPS cap.
You lost me at 1:39 your "only works with" wrong information. so i decided to drop it here, cant afford any other wrong information.
Not worth a penny honestly struggles to play cold war half the time. It may stutter, it may lag, or the frame pacing may be thrown out the window.
It may have good overall performance, and decent 1% lows, but the .01% lows are unforgivable in many cases.
What a shame
not used properly for sure.
@@thechristfollower1723 everything is wrong here.
Pff I still use I5 9th and work fine
I just bought the i7-9700k today! it's my last upgrade to my pc, Before I have to replace the mother board.
This cpu is absolutely garbage I have pair with rtx 3060 on Fortnite I have insane stutters and low FPS în Fortnite and rust
I have a stock 9700k, 16gb 3000mhz and a 3060ti, no issues with Battlefield 1, 5 and cs2
this is rather bs, if you'd want to show something you'd show the gpu usage as well. Oh and yes im speaking about 1080p gaming here
You are 100% correct, I have a 2080S with 9700k and the CPU bottleneck is real
Actually, i can say for a fact that even a 9900K is a bottleneck on cards like the 3080
I haven’t overclocked but this cpu bottlenecks in almost every game I play with 3060ti gpu. Gonna try overclocking to see if that helps
id get a 8700k before the 9700k, only 8 threads sucks
@standarsh8056 8700K is slower in every task including games
@HeartOfAdel barely if at all. Slightly higher single core, with worse multi core. If those 8 threads hit 100 percent enjoy stutters and system hang.
@@standarsh8056 well for games 9700k is much better...my OC 9700k hits bellow 70c on cinebench...
@@standarsh8056 Pure unadulterated ignorance. Not how it works. A game like cyberpunk can create hundreds of threads. Hyperthreading is about making full use of cpu resources so that there is less downtime. That's it.
@@MooKyTig lol it still only has 8 compute threads muppet. gamers nexus showed the 9600k hitting 100 percent and getting frame stutters when it launched 6 years ago. i promise you it hasnt gotten better in 6 years and the 9700k is suffering the same fate. how do i know? cause i still own one champ, thats how. now go back to staring at charts online and thinking you actually know anything
its only "great" if you can get it for 40-50$ just like mobo for it while anything more its simply shit and not worth over new cpus
