Unrelated to your current video, I must give you credit for starting me on using the runner Bolin knot. I’m a saddle hunter who has been using that Knot for one sticking for the past 2.5 years. Never had a single problem. Thanks so much 👍
Glad its working great for you. It was actaully a arborist that saddle hunts (carry gibson) that told me to use the running bowline. Its a great one sticking knot.
Thank you for sharing. I agree the Lone Wolf Assaults are the treestand of long ago but are everything a tree stand should be. I'll never get rid of my Lone Wolf Assault treestands. Best treestand EVER made. I also agree at 53 years old, that I just use what works. I have tried many new hunting innovations but my go-to's remain the same. I hunt the hill country of SW Wisconsin. While we may not have 3 mile hikes, the hills are a beast especially when using the steepest terrain to enter and exit. I agree, pack-in and pack-out weight is less of a factor than the industry makes it out to be. BUCK in THE TRUCK 2024.
Thanks Jason- do you recommend a very small pack to attach or clip to the back of a beast stand for walking in, no shoulder straps, just to keep a water, clippers, license, range finder, and few other bare essentials for local hunts? Thanks.
Im getting a kuiu pack thanks to you Sir also i have a funny story! I watched how you pack your 3 stick stand set up 4 days ago today is July 30 2024 i said to my self I need a pool noodle! I was thinking about it all day driving dump truck and was going to call my wife to have her stop at dollar general to get me a noodle then low and behold a small pick up truck passes me and just before flies out a freaking 4 ft peace of pool noodle😂😂😂😂 freaking score !!!!!
Man you ain’t kidding about the walking. The WMA I hunt in Alabama if you wanna to hunt areas that aren’t super pressured you gotta walk a minimum of a mile.
Would you know a case that's easy to deploy my esse knife from? Mine is so tight? Any units better for south carolina hogs? Would enjoy traveling this December, camping and hunting them since I'm retired.
never used a standard esee sheath. I make my own. so cant help there as I never tried any. For SC hogs they move with water levels and food usually along the rivers. look for wmas close the rivers and call the dnr to see what ones have good hog numbers when you go.
@tradbowpodcast I appreciate you. You always answer, give great gear and information and help. Now if they ever open up selling the waldrop turkey seat. Would you take Georgia or SC for hogs?
@@GotChrist60 Thanks. Tim will get the pack seats back in stock soon. they are selling faster than they can make em. SC for hogs. they have so many hogs there. the wmas ive hunted are loaded.
Hey Jason. I know you have your system dialed but I wanted to share the way I pack out animals on public that doesn't affect the pack. I just bring 2 large Allen Game bags. I use the large because I need the extra length. I divide the meat evenly between the 2 bags. Then I tie the top openings together into a knot then sling it over my back/neck/traps where they are hanging against my front. Allows me to pack out my backpack/treestand the same way I packed it in and prevents getting the pack all bloody or dealing with garbage bags. But I will say that it does get your clothes more bloody. Just thought I'd share if anyone might get some help from it. Thanks for the video.
The garmin etrex line is great and if you want very accurate and super simple with long battery life I really like the forex 801. It doesn't show any maps on it but is my favorite GPS right now. I have a video on it as well
Agree 100% actually ran into a crossbow hunter in missouri that saw me walking a road back to the truck. we were talking for a minute and he said so your a newbie to the trad world huh? I said what makes you think that. He said the brass nock! when I get more into trad I will start to make my own tie on nocks! he said then I will start to make my own arrows and eventually my own strings, but all things in time. I said thanks will have to look into that stuff.
I think your thinking of someone else. Dave contacted me before they even started making them and I met with him a few times to help them with the design and specs. I also was shooting them as prototypes before they were even available.
As far as Georgia rifle hunting goes I was under the impressions that while the rifle season was 3 months the actual number of days in which you can hunt with a rifle on a WMA is severely limited to just a few managed hunts each- which are scheduled and visible in the hunting guide. I tend to stay out of the WMAs where those hunts are ongoing or go extremely deep and camp in the backcountry to keep away from rifle/youth shooters alike. I never hunt with a gun, so I was never totally sure 😂
I’m getting back into traditional archery after a bad shoulder injury in your honest opinion do you think this set up will work 40 lbs long bow at 27 1/2 inches probably 37 at my draw gold tip 500 spine cut at 28” 100 gr insert and a 150 gr magnus killer bee broadhead I have shot this combo at 15 yards and 20 yards and I’m touching arrows together I have not bare shaft tuned yet my buddy has the same set up but hasn’t hunted with it in a couple of years I can only shoot a few arrows a day I’m not try to over stress my shoulder but I’m getting stronger every day sorry for the long text I watch all your videos and you by far have some of the best information out there thanks again
Glad you are healing up and the shoulder getting better. Yep that combo will work great. Now as far as the laws goes in your state check to see the minimum allowed weight so you dont get in trouble. But as far as the performance yes it will work and kill deer all day everyday.
You will learn how to live with those gnats naturally. Breathing out a little puff of air, directed up at your eyes / nose helps to keep those suckers from those spots. Ears...gotta have some kind of repellent. Living below the gnat line in the summer can be a real shock your first summer if you weren't born there.
Yep hardest thing for me to get used to is the gnats. I am used to them on my face eyes etc. But I can not stand them behind and in my ears! Unbearable.

Well said! And cheers to an amazing upcoming 2024 deer season!
Great group of gear. Those packs are sweet and that short pack chair looks really interesting.

Hey Jason I loved the comment about move down south and hunt the wma it’s harder to find deer on big woods not like small tracks of trees for bedsing

That was a really good video. And timely! I'm working now on what my setups will be this fall.

South East ga. Will be hunting 4 states and not sure which ones yet
I get so much crap for shooting brass nocks but I've never had issues with it! However, I have seen tied on nocks move and throw everything off.

I have been considering that Turkey seat. Really like the full size one.
Love them both! But really like how low I can get in the turkey seat

I have not

What's your opinion on black widow bows
Outstanding. Always have been and probably always will be

Not sure yet. I only got to use the lwcg stand half a dozen times last December. Gonna start with it this season and see.
