    The beach and ocean for the most part are very peaceful and beautiful. However, I have lived in south FL all my life. Every June through November, I wait to see what hurricane season looks like. I have seen many hurricanes come and go. I see homes and property wiped out. Yet every year. I see more homes and condo's going up on beachfronts and barrier islands.

  • @kennixox262
    @kennixox262 Год назад +17

    Hurricanes of this magnitude can and DO change the shape of barrier islands. I am pleasantly amazed that so many roofs on most homes survived. Unfortunately, the storm surge get in and ruined everything. If you are going to build at the beach, the the houses up on stilts. In this case, due to the height of the storm surge, stilts may have been insufficient in this particular area but other areas the interiors of homes would most likely have been spared. A lot of homes that are raised, have sacrificial rooms on the ground floor, garages, storage etc with walls that are designed to wash away and spare main part of the structure. As a native Floridian from a very OLD Florida family, the attitude is to build inland and on high ground. Thanks to those of us who now live in the 49 other states, you are welcome for the tax payer dollars that we will be paying out to you so that you can again build along the coast. It is time to rethink Federal Flood insurance laws to prevent payouts to places that are in hazardus flood zones.

The roof is of the same nature that I observed from Google Earth, taken prior to the storm. If confirmed that this is the same structure: hurricane Ian ripped this structure from its foundation and carried it approximately over 2700 feet = to half a mile: where it now sits beside Runyan Key.

Some of us had nowhere else to go and a lot of us weren’t going to move their whole lives because our homes were susceptible to something of this. Florida isn’t known for hurricanes like that. That’s the first in over a century that we’ve been hit like this, Irma and Charlie were nothing compared to this and nothing would’ve stopped it. Everyone can actually be more aware that if it weren’t for the amount damage that we took then the entire state would’ve been devastate from that hurricane which almost became a category 5. My home is gone and some of my friends too I hope some of you here can take more notice to that instead of immediately blaming it on us for being there in the first place

      0:28 "I'm surprised that road is still standing." Lord knows what that even means. While watching, I had been fully distracted by how everything she says is... ...well, stupid. Then I found your comment, lol. Perhaps they were interrupting her to preserve the station's credibility. You can see the relative height of the sand, lots and lots of visual cues abound. One structure is collapsed, immediately surrounded on all sides by other structures that aren't, and she thinks the sand has magically piled up on that single structure 10 feet high. ...Hello. One structure collapsed. It's not rocket science.
      1:09 "And the sand is so high you can see that people walked on the roof..." Wrong. The collapsed roof is near ground level. Embarrassing.
      1:17 "The sand has came up so high." _Has came?_ Grade school English, people. She's on the news, sounding like a neighborhood child.
      The phrase "a contest to see who could say the most ignorant things" was in the forefront of my mind (I promise) as I was watching/listening. She was winning, hands down.
      1:29 ←The guy gets it right mentioning a roof collapse, she takes that opportunity to reiterate her ignorance. "The sand is SO HIGH!" [on just that one building, lol]
      3:21 "There used to be land around that. *_Because, you know, that's a house."_* Wrong again. lady. She even informs us how she's reasoned-out her scientific conclusion regarding this inexplicable isolated flooding anomaly involving just one house. "Because, you know, that's a house." Again, embarrassing
      3:48 "That house doesn't belong there." ...The guys once again inject some reality into the conversation.
      To be fair, newscasters try to fill the airtime with plenty of conversation, and naturally end up saying lots of silly things. ..such as during prolonged coverage of an active police chase in Los Angeles. But she was taking the cake this time. Maybe she's really cute. That might explain her employment.

      @@ViralTuber I don't have time to see the video again to criticize her or them... Your argument is on point, maybe she should bring her A game next time so she has her fair share of air time 😂

      To everyone, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Honestly I didn't care about how she was reporting. I was just more interested in how she wasn't able to speak without being cut off in some way. She has to be doing something right if not why is she still on there. Well ✌️out.

    The comments from the lady reporter are just stupid …… can’t think of another way to describe it. Also lots of grammatical errors. Seriously, can’t you hire better people?

    Thank goodness DeSantis recommended to the FLA people they "didn't need to leave the state, simply seek higher ground." I was just curious, as FLA is literally the flattest state in the country, where exactly were these people going to go, and what was waiting for them when they got there? Are there hotels there? Does wind and rain magically stop when you got up a few feet? Hmmm?

    Maybe DeSantis shouldn't have bussed & flew out all those migrants whom had done anything to warrant their relocation. Let's see where Karma relocates it's people, for no reason....
