  • Dixie Breakdown from Markology.
It’s easily on my Mount Rushmore of acoustic guitar performances, and let this sink in…. Mark was 15 or so when he played it on the album😳😳😳

For decades, I’ve wondered about the beginning of the B part. This is the first time I’ve seen it played. It possibly is even trickier than I thought (which was already not going to be easy by any means.) Plus, it makes me think back to Mark playing this passage at Winfield a couple years prior. Incredible how flawlessly he played it. And great cover by Andy.

Very well done! I remember buying Markology in the early 80s. I was astonished that he played guitar top level even at 15. He's not so bad on mando and fiddle either...ahem...

Note to any high level guitar players out there: I would be curious to see a cover like Andy did here of Mark’s Winfield version. I’m guessing it would not be quite as demanding as the Markology version. One of you guys (unfortunately, not me) could do it.

Sweet picking and execution, catching all the devils details. Byword, Mark's book, Crossing Bridges is a great handbook of the knuckles and know how of the music business and he most def got his share of the business from Dave Grisman and Steve Morse.

All the chromatic Norman Blake licks you know and love… now featuring playing up the neck! I always wonder what the point of playing guitar is after listening to mark - and yourself incidentally.
