Great intro video! I can't agree with your over-striding demonstration though. Every great sprinter of the last 30 years has done their running in 'front' and is a slight over-strider.
7:52 when it comes to high knees don't think of lifting the knees up. Rather think of lifting your heels off the ground. Pull your heels like you want them to come underneath your glutes as soon as they are done exerting force... High knees is a consequence of exerting force on the ground. So when one leg exerts hard force, the alternate leg in flight phase should be cycling with hard force in preparation to strike the ground. If you let that alternate leg( focus on the heel) passively cycle on its way from behind, that heel won't come back to the body(underneath the glutes) as close as it should. The consequence will be a low knee drive. But if you actively pull it back up using the glutes and hamstrings, the knee lift will be high and the force you exert to the ground with the foot as it comes down will be big enough to make whoever is watching to see that you do HIGH KNEES
Not a bad elementary sprinting tutorial but it's very old school. No mention of very important dorsiflex foot plant and front side mechanics . The runners in the video are all quad runners. To really Sprint fast you need to activate the posterior chain better. Arm swing has to increase downward loading forces to load the legs elastically and allow a more explosive response.
Runners who lean back must be taught to run with a slight trunk forward lean where the knees a drilled to aim towards the chest ; thus securing the slight forward lean and the high knee action required of the championship runner! Knees coming up and forward! Rest of info pretty good; we are all pretty much on the same wavelength; just different takes on certain drills? When and why? Thnks fof sharing!
Thanks Krillin, this particular video is many years old, of course we have developed our philosophy a bit since then but most of it still stands solid against the test of time
I have been told that when I sprint I need to pick my knees, what drills can I do to help with this? And after the first 40metres I tend to not increase speed where as everyone else does and catches up, what can I do to solve this?
sir i have doing speed drills like sprint, ladder drills and leg stregthening like squats, lunges etc but i cant sprint faster. everyone in my team though they didnt do fitness at all , criticises me that im too slow always.. will u offer me a solution

I am going to try that next time!
On the 4th sentence you wrote: ” Pull your HIPS like...” Did you mean: pull your HEELS?
@@danielkarlsson6784 oh yes. I meant heels

Zampado Drunken work on ur Max velocity and speed endurance
For your knees, you shouldn’t actively bring them up, high knees are a product of fast sprinting.
Thanks

Sprint drills and leg strengthening is not enough . You should sprint to get faster
Run
Well done !
Papa, can I ask why you have this?
You don't need to be lean to accomplish this although great shape is good. All you need is to understand.
