With more than 35 Vogue covers, a meteoric fashion and singer-songwriter career credited to her CV, the flame-haired supermodel is one of the most renowned icons of our time. Signed at 16 years old to a model agency in her hometown of Manchester, her career in fashion soon took off (she has fronted multiple global campaigns for Miu Miu, Dior, and Louis Vuitton to name a few landmark moments). And she’s never looked back - until now.
Her journey wasn’t without its challenges, however. “I was bullied a lot. Nobody expected anything of me,” Elson tells British Vogue in this very rare, intimate documentary. “But I wanted more.” From Nashville to the north of England, watch as Elson takes British Vogue on an emotional and personal journey home.

Karen is devastatingly beautiful aesthetically but it is her sincere warmth, depth and frank nature that have kept me captivated all these years. I still have a copy of The Face with her on the cover knocking about at home somewhere. I couldn’t bare to part with it, it was such an iconic fashion moment. ❤️

Pure click bait: "Elson takes an emotional trip back". Yeah, right - All of a pub her Dad drinks in & the Model Agency she first got signed to. (Guess she didn't live in a house we might have visited, guess she never went to a school while there, guess she didn't even have a part-time or Saturday job while in Oldham.) Who produces this guff for Vogue?
I think we should reach out to Vogue and ask them for a series of videos on Karen Elson. 15 minutes isn't enough to cover all the places she frequented in her early years. I agree with you, it's a shame not to be able to see more of her and her memories. Though I for one am moved by the fact she opened up about her hardships, I'm moved that she decided to go back to a place that she found it difficult to go back to. She opened up her home to us, took us to meet her dad, showed us her beginnings.... but I agree with you completely that I would have loved to see so much more of her. 15 minutes was not nearly enough. Thank you for your kind comment. I'm certain if Ms. Karen Elson read this, she would be flattered that you (and probably everyone else) wanted to see so much more of her story. P.S.
