i like these kids - talented, loving music, and with good energy going - they give off good chemistry, enjoying each other and each other's performances, instead of a group of egos, each using each other for their own goals, like so many bands are. i hope they keep going. and the recording sounded great.
This is what I want to see. I've owned a Tascam Neo 2488 for 13 years and I love it. I prefer using my ears than looking at a screen, would love the Tascam 24 it seems perfect. I'm not against music software but with my Tascam I get there sooner without dealing with plug-ins and constant tweeking.
This was awesome. Picked up the M24 last year and love it. There's just something about hands-on tactile knob twisting and mixing that exponentially boosts the fun factor in recording.
I really like my Model 24. Nice you brought it up! I bought one when I realized that I wanted to go back to a more tactile felling when recording and also getting the itch to just make decisions and then live with them. One million possibilities in post just isn´t fun anymore. It is really versatile and will probably fit in a lot of different configurations and usages. For instance, I have found that it is a brilliant piece of gear for recording podcasts.
I've had the Tascam Model 24 on my cart for about two years and I was afraid of not being able to figure out how to use it. But after watching this video, it's made me more confident. I think I'm going to buy it and finally record the album I've been wanting to record for about 10 years. Great video.
I was exactly in your boat, Rene. I pulled the trigger on a 24 last spring, and my band and I have never looked back! The flow diagram at the end of the manual is particularly useful, graphically substitutes for a lot of explanation.
Warren! Oh my freaking days, you've managed to take me back to my band days. In the end, we recorded all of our practices to cakewalk. We rehearsed 3 times a week unless we had shows. I really miss recording live like that! Love this type of format too. Very nice look behind the scenes.
ugh so true. i was recording on those fostex straight to CD machines 15 years ago when i first started. lugged it around my university to each of the band members houses and dragged them out of bed for our first album. i found that as we made more money and travelled further for shows, everyone got moodier and moodier. i work solo now.
@@m.o.n.d.e.g.r.e.e.n you're cracking me up. I did the same with a PC running a hacked version of Win 9X/ME without the Explorer module (no internet browser). 21 years that machine has survived. What a great video! The recording sounds awesome - that Tascam Model 24 is a great piece of gear. But the best part was how you captured the fun and excitement of the recording process - sure it helps to be in a legendary studio, but the energy and thrill of the process wherever you're doing it is what captivates us all. Ahh to be young and in a rock'n'roll band!
I’d like to see how each member has their own headphone mix playing live , also would like a video on how to hook up phone element to mixer. Great job. I’ve always said it’s about the Engineers knowledge of the equipment . They can make any equipment sound great. If you used the Beatles console/ equipment today nobody would know what to do, but listen to those results !!!!
Very nice. I started my audio career with the Tascam Porta One and the later the Porta 2. I’m amazed to see they still are making what sounds to be a very nice mixer/ recording box. No more cleaning or degaussing those heads. LOL.
I love the Tascam Model series. I bought the Model 12, because I prefer the digital mixer with all the advantages like using it as a DAW control. Although it looks like the 16 and 24, it is a bit different and fully digital. Despite the differences I prefer the Tascam to my more expensive interfaces, even to my analog SSL SiX. I love not having to use a computer and a mouse, just making music and pressing record. Use it at home everyday, used it as a small PA, used it for multitracking rehearsals. And one could still use a DAW later to finish a recording.
Having quite a few interviews with bigger groups on the horizon, a Tascam model, probably, 16 might be a great starting point to building out a dedicated sound case. Housing the board, the mics, the lavalier setups and the various tools going with that. And being able to just plug it in at home and make some music is a lovely bonus. Thanks for the video, there are so many options out there these days that it often is the accidental inspiration for a certain piece of gear that leads to the start of a new project.
It’s good to expose how talented musicians, skilled technicians and a proper studio room, makes most of the difference rather than the DAW itself in these days of vast technological advancements in recording equipment.
