    Why I play with a Prestige (in order of importance):
    -I always have an excuse as to why I didn't play my best tennis.
    -I get to say douchey things like "do you know the history of this racket"
    -I can roll my eyes when someone pulls out a Pure Drive
    -feel and control

    To be honest, the prestige just won't shine with your forehand stroke. The prestige really shines when you can be more linear/horizontal through the contact point, i.e. it wants you to hit through the ball more and really extend the follow through out in front of you, whereas your forehand is more modern and you tend to have a short contact zone with a more vertical follow through. If you do hit more linear through the contact zone, you'll find the prestige really comes alive and you can almost swing as hard as you like and it will still go in, producing this heavy ball that bounces through the court more than upward.

    I own an original Made In Austria Head Prestige Classic 600 and I love it. BUT I learned to play tennis in the wooden racquet era, so THIS stick was a huge step up in power, and sweet spot. I still use it from time to time, I play on clay(!). Just string it low and make sure you watch the ball and get your footwork right.

    This racquet was developed for continental to semi western grip

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 6 месяцев назад

      Muster had a Western forehand grip and wasn't doing too bad with it. But I agree: Eastern, and hitting through the shot, is probably the best form for this frame.

  • @leftyspinn

    Prestige mids scream for gut or a good multi. Your forehand is also too whippy to suit the racquet. I use an iprestige mid every now and again with gut main/ lynx touch crosses. I have to swing straighter on my forehand to avoid framing it. Ball pocketing and dwell time is insane. It definitely exposes any weaknesses in technique, when you are on a bad day it makes you look silly

  • @slickdaddy12

    The i Prestige mid is my racquet of choice for some time. I love the feel and control. You have to have good strokes and basics. The better you are the more reward. It's different . . imo needs a good 17 gauge multi strung at the lower side of recommend tension. Just gives you easier power.

    • @vinny6_9
      @vinny6_9 3 месяца назад

      i.prestige (mid) gang here also. currently using alu power rough at 53 lbs but do want to experiment with lower tensions.

    BTW Prestiges (all CAP models, not just the PC600) have a customization bonus when compared to non-CAP racquets. If you are to put lead on 3 and 9 you have the option of placing it on the outside of the frame which in essence extends the lever - it boosts the twistweight more for the same amount of lead. Also matching racquets becomes way easier (if you don't want to have visible lead on the frame).

    It's difficult to think of a frame that suits your style of hitting less than this old school Prestige. Now, for those of us who hit their forehand through the ball with an Eastern forehand, and transfer their weight properly, it's still playable. Demanding, but playable.

    • @Stu49583
      @Stu49583 2 месяца назад

      Totally agreed. His hitting style is not suited for this frame. I also have many prestiges + pt57a and I can play with them better than with Pure Aeros etc. I also enjoy hitting through the ball instead of the brushing up business and these light stiff modern frames aren’t suited to that. You need neutral or closed stance with linear swing path with long follow through and extreme easter or eastern grip for this frame.

    I’m 58 (but a former protégé of Nick Bollettieri) and I use currently the 2001 Head i.prestige mid which is almost the exact same specs other than this new one is a bit heavier in the head and a few notches stiffer. I don’t get tired after playing 4 hours. It’s just a matter of getting used to it and getting into better tennis shape. You can see me hitting hard in my videos and I don’t look tired at all. But I agree with you, one needs to be playing like Safin. Thanks for reviewing this finally too! Ps: I use a full bed of Alu Power at 24/23: that’s perfect control with zero added power. One has to generate their own power. Carpe diem 🎾🏆

      nice! i also hit with the mid i.prestige (rubber paint for the L) and just tried 2023 prestige pro that tennis talk people were raving about. still prefer the mid, but 2023 feels pretty good. my current string is alu power rough right around 53 lbs, so very similar setup to yours. you can't reproduce the feel of a clean shot with one of the 600 mids. simply out of this world feel. also just added 4 grams of lead (2x technifibre strips) to 12 o'clock and loving it even more!

    It only feels low powered to you because you use a western grip + brushing up technique. It needs proper flat full contact with the ball.

    Hi, i hear you say so often in the video; it's hard to use, it has not much power, small sweet spot, off center shots get punished etc... I have a Prestige MPL 2021, which is nowhere near as difficult to use as this one, but for me the racket came to life when switched from poly to X-one. Another premium multi would be fine too. But I think this is maybe the type of racket that needs this type of string to make it shine in the areas where it shines less when paired to a poly. Wouldn't that make sense? I think natural gut was still more in use when these rackets were the industry standard. I love the sweet combination of my MPL with X-one, so plush!

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  6 месяцев назад

      It would make sense. I considered it, but I've been experimenting with nylons on the side in my Whiteout and I'm struggling to find a nylon setup that I enjoy. I didn't want to use a string that doesn't work for me in a racquet that's already out of my wheelhouse.

    • @dannylefevre1016
      @dannylefevre1016 6 месяцев назад

      @@TennCom sure, that makes sense too, we all have our own preferences. But maybe just for the experiment ;-) Whiteout is far different from this racket too. Triax could be an option if you are notvthat much into traditional nylons. Your viewer(s) would appreciate the comparison 😁
