I’m happy you guys enjoyed my question. I liked your discussion as well. This is the first time I learned that it’s not pronounced as Hoka 1-1 but Hoke o-ne o-ne. Thanks guys! I look forward to your podcast every week.
@ I don’t know if the roads in the Philippines are sharp but my hoka clifton 8’s sole got shredded easily. 😅 In terms of insole, it’s the continental soles of the ultraboost that I think is more durable.
As for the absolute favorite EDC item… it would have to be a Swiss Army knife. The Explorer is my OG EDC item since 1979. Even the demure Classic keychain is worth a vote on this AbFav list.
Loved your watch craving story Bernard. I think as a watch enthusiast. Your unfortunately destined to never have a forever watch in the same way a non watch enthusiast so easily has one like your dad. As a collector and connoisseur I don't think you will ever have that feeling because you just appreciate too much in the genre and notice too many details and know too much about each. It's a trade off but just think about how many sweet watches you get to enjoy instead of the romantic appeal of one patina and story clad piece. Maybe instead of a forever watch you can think more on a forever brand and style so your kids and grand kids can think of you - he always had an amazing watch on that was a grand seiko and that was a smaller size 36 to 38mm and he had some beautiful ones. Maybe in the same way you romanticise your dad's single watch and what made that so special, they will do the same with your awesome collection and trademark style or brand of watch you really enjoy. I don't think either is better. But I do think the romance is heightened when it's different to you. Ie your dad's single watch is more romantic to you and maybe to someone like him - your collection or curating of multiple watches would trigger them in a similar way
thanks for reflecting on my story and offering that new perspective for me to consider, heathy! I think you're right in that I probably can't get down to 1 watch in the foreseeable future, but it's always possible that I can get there somehow eventually and organically. But I think for now since I feel some resistance or even stress about trying to accomplish that, it probably isn't the right approach for me in the moment. So for now I'm just enjoying the watches I have wholeheartedly and it's been going great. the brain worms lose today
Please tell Fusion Gear to bring back the Nagatac E.S.R. Pocket Tactical Pry Bar Breaching Tool - a big name for such small edc item! I have to give away the one I had, and they stop making it!
Mr. Mikey, I'm no RUclipsr, but if you could just hold the items you are showing for the camera, *still* for a bit longer we can get a better look and appreciation for your feature/design commentary. I know the cam wants to focus on your face, but you tend to handle and move the items at the same pace as you talk - which is on the fast side.
hey it's Bernard here, thanks for the feedback. We actually thought about this a few episodes back and are taking extra steps to record better B-roll for products we have or mention so it's a more useful and enjoyable viewing experience for you all. thanks for tuning in!
Agreed, the Civivi Yonder's axis lock is the most comfortable axis lock on the market today

Really sorry about that! Like Bernard said, he and our editor are taking steps to help fix my incompetence 😅 -- Mikey
Do you think balisong trainers can be edc for autistic people? As a type of tech-tile touch option ?
We had a nice chat about this in an upcoming episode, thanks for the question! -- Mikey
