    Looks like the air fryer did a great job on the onion Booger! I still have my onion bloomer gizmo that they use to sell at Walmart back in the day. I've always loved them, and use to make them quite often. That sauce does look and sound delicious!

    I'm really glad to hear your husband's opinion.
    That sauce looks awesome, too!
    I look forward to trying this. Thanks for the tip on the turkey baster! I watched a program on AMERICA'S TEST KITCHEN where they double-fried french frieds, and did the same with onion rings -- egging and flouring them after an initial coating had been par-fried. I'm gonna try that with this.

    • @Booger500us
      @Booger500us  7 лет назад

      ah yes mon ami, we had a restaurant growing up where we double fried fries...get them yellow..let them cool... then re-fry for another 10...they came out beautiful..and same with air fryer I do the same. Thanks for stoppin in!

    I love using a turkey baster for all kinds of things -- I use it when I'm frying bacon or sausages, instead of trying to spoon the grease out. I have one in my grow room (I grow peppers inside year-round as well as keeping begonias under a grow light for the winter) for watering smaller plants, it's easier to get into the soil, lol. I have one for my frog tank, too (I have aquatic frogs, it's easier to get goop out of the gravel).
    I just watched another recipe for blooming onion on the Allrecipes channel -- they blanched the onion for 1 minute in boiling water (then ice water) first, it seems to help open up the "petals".
    I got my Actifry delivered on Friday and I"m trying to decide what to christen it with!

    • @Booger500us
      @Booger500us  7 лет назад

      CanadianErin hey those are all awesome ideas for a turkey baster eh. I did read up on that ice water thing for the onion but decided not to, if you try it let me know if it helps. Thanks for watchin and commenting I appreciate it

    Watched it three times (probably will watch more). Got distracted by your nail lacquer (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that colour!!), then the sriracha pronunciation, then I was kinda able to focus on the recipe. You are awesome! Thanks for the recipes!

Next time empty the batter into a separate bowl and pour through the opened onion the do the sifter thing you mentioned in a different bowl and then repeat. It should make things easier for you. The best way I have found to keep your eyes from crying while cutting an onion. Is to have your kids do it and then tell them you will give them something else to cry about and have them cut another one. Because with 4 kids one onion isn't enough

    Great video. I've wanted to make these. I have to believe there's a way to slice the onion in wedges to greatly reduce the amount of effort and hassle this requires. Much of this is for restaurant presentation so they can charge you $8.95 for one onion LOL. Wedge the onion, batter, air fry. Then use your brilliant sauce recipe. Too much work to make it "bloomin"...Also, you could easily substitute or add zucchini wedges along with the onion. The batter and sauce are what makes this exceptional!

    try putting the onion in the egg wash and the flour UPSIDE DOWN. It will penetrate much quicker. the ice water helps the Keyshawn open up so the other steps are WAY easier, like a thud the time.

    for this i think it's easier if you mix the eggs and flour mixture and then just dunk the onion.

      @1bsucmusic 8 лет назад

      Thanks can it do a whole chicken too and does this cute machine do a baked cake I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I'm checking out different air fryers and the one your using looks nice on a counter top. I appreciate any comments and thank you.

    • @Booger500us
      @Booger500us  8 лет назад +1

      Brenda you ask away...I have not tried a whole chicken or a cake in it but in the recipe book there is a devil food's cake recipe in it..I might just try it sometime along with other recipes in the book just to 'test it out' I'm not a 'recipe' follower but I might just do some of these from this book..

    Wouldn't it be easier to pour the liquid on the onion? Also, the same with the flour?

    how do you keep food from falling in the hole where the attachment goes I have been looking at all of your cooking with tfal I have one from 2 yrs ago and have not used it cause I thought what else can I do with this other than chicken wings

    • @Booger500us
      @Booger500us  7 лет назад

      Hi Linda..with the actifry what you can do is put a piece of parchment paper if you take the paddle out...with this delonghi that i use there is no hole when you take the paddle off..which is super nice! They do sell a basket that attaches to the rotating thing now I have seen Valerie Reese use it in her actifry, maybe that can help you out? Thanks for stopping in

    Just buy some shrimp and oyster mix. Add water to mix , stir and dunk onion in mixture. Excellent no flour taste
