Up front is Helen (the blonde), Anita in the middle, and June on the right. In the back is Jan Howard. As far as I know Jan is no relation to the Carters.
Janette Carter is the youngest daughter of A.P. Carter and Sara Carter. Maybelle is Sara's cousin, Janette's Aunt. Maybelle married Ezra Carter, Alvin P. Carters brother, they had Helen, Victoria June, and Anita. So there is the family history of the Carter Family
Jan Howard was Janette Carter the youngest daughter of Mother Maybelle and A.P. Carter. She died in Jan of 2006, she was the last surviving member of the Carter Family.
correct, but Jan Howard is a totally different person. She is no relation to the Carters or Cash. She was part of the Johnny Cash Show and sang with the Carter Sisters for a few years in the late '70s.She did the "Mama sang tenor" on Johnny's hit "Daddy Sang Bass". June sang the part in many performances, but it's Jan on the original recording.
@jjhotlips Barbara is playing a medley of songs (just guessing by the sound of the performance she's giving), but if you'll listen close to the third quick little ditty....that has to be "WON'T YOU COME HOME BILL BAILEY". Yeah? Oh yeah! It's neat huh?
@longfoot Jan is Jan Howard. She had filled in on the road when June was pregnant with John Jr. (It's actually Jan's voice and not June's you hear on "Daddy Sang Bass.")
Nice video. I don't know much about Barbara Mandrell and I especially didn't know that she was such a talented steel guitar player. That was awesome but I wish it hadn't been cut off.
well u think thats bad hank williams ain't in the grand ole opry because he was a drunk and they kicked him out and they can't reinstate him because he's dead

Asi že jsou bratři

Maybelle Carter was married to Ezra Carter, brother to A.P.
Barbara Mandrell is great as a singer and she is a very versatile Instrumentalist. This Is quite often overlooked.

Correction: Not the youngest of Mother Maybelle and A.P. but the youngest of Mother Maybelle and Ezra Carter. A.P. Carter was her brother in law
Mother maybelle had three daughters Helen, June and Anita
When was a Family ever so Strong.
Two Brothers, and their inlaws..
Its Jan Howard who regularly sang with the sisters, but never seemed to get a credit.
She's playing "Steel Guitar Rag".
