Gosh! I see a video and think of how lovely Anita sounds. Then I discover another video and hear her voice again and simply say “Wow!” She has to be the best voice ever in country music! She was so much like her quiet humble mother that she never broadcasted herself and drew much attention to herself! Maybe that’s why many of us love her so much. Notice how she never left her sisters despite her lovely voice. That’s a statement in itself!
Anita was the prettiest and best singer but I think she thought that love and family are more important than fame. What a wonderful soul. And of course June and Helen were also pretty and great singers and they all played instruments. What a family. Must have been great just sitting on the porch with them singing.
These are the kinds of voices missing in todays country music. What pure, simple, beautiful talent they possessed!!! They should be in the Hall of Fame!
Worth it to hear Anita hit that note at 0:53 (or at 1:59) There's not as much video on your tube of them from this period.... compared with earlier on Grand Ole Opry, later with Johnny Cash.
@@tonylupo1764 It really is a very special performance! When I was a girl, my sisters and I played dress-up with a "wrap around your neck fur stole with the tails all dangling down" like June is wearing in the video. Even then, (the mid-60’s) we thought it quite strange. I have it now. LOL. Thank you for what you are doing for the Carter sisters, truly!
One thing I notice about this performance is the daughters seem so happy. It’s lovely that Jeannette and Joe are part of the program. When was this performance? I’m curious. Thank you for posting this video, truly.
Joe sounds very much like his father. It's ironic, because when they were all performing as children, Joe never sang. He usually backed the rest of them on string bass or guitar. @estelle715 The Carters prided themselves on their clothes and appearance. Go find any photos of them; they could have been on the cover of Vogue. @flint589 If this were true to historical form, Jeanette would be wearing her high school cheerleader uniform; she often went to the radio studio wearing it.
Rest In Peace Carter Sisters. They will never be Another Singers like y'all
In my opinion this family made the best music in our nation's history.

I wish Janette and Joe had had more time to sing the whole song.
Joe is playing Sara’s guitar
the Flowers of Clinch Mountain, cherished and reared by Mother Maybelle herself
Fantastic, thank you so much for sharing; but, gosh what happened to the end? What amazing talent this family had.
Both Helen and June called Anita " the voice".
