If it's a MOLD risk, yes, that's an emergency.
Glue them together with rice and beans
Do the trimming with delivered pizza boxes.
🤣😂🤣
Ppl are so spoiled!! This caller can live with one bathroom for two ppl. Ppl with medium to large families for generations have live for years with just one bathroom. THEY turned out just fine.
And many more have with _no_ bathroom!
@@fsmoura Some people used to have a toilet outside, imagine that at 3am in the middle of winter
@@ianrobinson4200 still the norm in many villages and tribes all over the world.
For all we know. The other bathroom is only a half bath. And have not tub or shower.
@@jimmymcgill6778 OK I see your point and I understand. However I don't believe a person need to have a tub or shower to maintain a healthy and clean body. A person only needs fresh water, soap, a rag and the will to want to bath.
2:55 Good Lord, you make $110k net and can't deal with a $7k repair?! Something seriously amiss. Do you live on top of a casino, or something??
It’s wild how bad car payments will strap a 6 figure family down to prevent basic repairs from being completed.
It's the host telling him not to do the repair.
@@Kiyonce.Kartier What should he have done?
Money flies unless you are saving super aggressively...Or if you don't have a budget...
This is how you have to live when you spend more than you make!!!
Only two people? Why is this an issue? Save up the money and get it fixed.
The beauty of owning a home. I would like to sell my house and move into a tent: no plumbing, no electrical, no furnace, no windows, no roof....
Sure, tell the homeless people living on the street that.
Apparently you just screech in the streets for the taxpayer to pay your debt for you.
Agreed - he said he had 10 k in student loans. I guess the tax payers paid that off. So he can keep his nice vehicle.
DAYUM lol
Yeah that comment will never get old..
I’ve noticed that recently hardly anyone calls making less than $100k
Stop yer drama. Income makes very little difference.
Yeah, it's called i n f l a t i o n .
And they all seem to have 50k+ in car debt
@@donjohnson1416 Income makes a big difference. Try surviving on $23k a year.
Lol, what?? Really a 100k a year salary isn’t so common in America after all. 🤯 😅😂
But the mold grows..?
Do the repairs yourself. I flipped over a dozen wrecked homes by learning how to do the repairs myself... and made a lot of money doing so!
Some people don’t/ won’t do manual labor. I’m a handyman, a simple water valve change “10min job” is to much work for some people.
Not everyone is "handy".
@@ugabuga1361 water valve… you mean like the shut off for the house? It only takes 10 mins? How do you do that??? Our house has multiple of those & all are broken but one. It’s getting sketchy lol. Any help much appreciated 😂
What about if you’re not a handy person, like my husband will literally measure something 3-4 times and still cut it the wrong length and a few times he tried to paint, more was on him and the floor than the walls. He can do electrical, and that’s about it. God bless him though, he really tries but it always looks like a 8 yrs old put it together…so yeah not everyone is handy.
@@LG123ABC you don't have to be handy. It just means that you will take wayyy longer than the professional. You can repair like 90% by copying what a handyman does in a RUclips video
Being debt free feels great. How fast my balances have grown since I've been debt free is nothing short of amazing. Plus you don't feel bad about things you buy with cash even when you treat yourself with frivolous things.
Other example of people buying cars they can't really afford.
I bet that guy never off roads in his overlander. But he’d use that bathroom everyday I bet.
_"Dave, the walls in my home are caving in. Should I consider this an emergency??"_
The real Ramsey would say, “No. You should have insurance that covers it.”
"Are all the walls caved in or just some?"
@@ytr8989 They discussed insurance. Think he said it had a $10k limit on water damage
1:10 Dave: _"The toilet repair cost seven thousand dollars!??!"_ ( oДo)
Caller: _"Well, our diet is really exotic . . ."_
😂😂😂😂😂
Baby Step Two means you're supposed to stop getting food from Taco Bell 😆🃏
LOL
Great question, great answer. When Dave started asking about the car I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the "sell the car". 😂
common sense does not exist
That flexseal really works.
ikr stuff of wonders
Just get yourself a couple of student loans. Those are free. 👌
Just like corporate bail outs!
Or better yet, get a few PPP loans and have them forgiven or run up a multi-million dollar bill and file bankruptcy. You will be just fine.
@@MT-yx5cu indeed
First of all stop having Vehicle Payment's When you are going to own a home it's not worth buying new vehicles becuase it will keep you from having Car Payments it will keep you from being Wealthy . When you own a home what do you expect you will always need Emergency Savings
Sounds like an emergency to me if the walls are down
Well, not so fast . . . is it raining?
This is crazy. No kids…put your debt payoff on hold paying minimums for a few months, deliver Uber Eats for a couple of months and get the bathroom repaired. With no kids, they should easily be able to sacrifice some time on evenings and weekends to knock this out.
Dude is stumbling on answering simple questions.
Cause he is trying to fenagle a way around what he knows Dave is gonna say!
There's more to the story I bet.
Like buying the home site unseen maybe.
You save until you can pay for it. That's what we did. You can live with one bathroom for awhile. We're down a shower, but we're living without it until we want to spend the money.
This literally happened to me exactly like this. Cost me approximately $12k to return the bathroom to functional. and my kitchen is just going to have to wait.
I’m in deferred maintenance- not an emergency- situation and confused about how to deal with this myself.
This is a great question.
If it's not going to produce ongoing damage to either the building or the occupants, you don't fix it until you have the money. You don't need a second bathroom in your master bedroom, anyway, and if you did, you could live with looking at torn up drywall.
Also, if you're not working multiple jobs to pay this all off faster, you should have time to learn how to do rudimentary repair work on your house.
@@peterrose5373 Good points!!!
Why didn’t you just throw your sham wow up there.
The issue is that the leak sounds like it caused damage to the house and caused mold. This becomes a health concern and also a concern of the structural integrity of the house. That part of it is an emergency. The remediation and repairs should be done ASAP while having a workable bathroom can be left on hold.
People just don’t understand that mold will destroy your brain, body, and kids! We will never buy a home we can’t afford because of what it did to our family. It’s ALWAYS an emergency. Too bad Dave doesn’t get it. This stuff is in the Old Testament.
used FLEX TAPE for years in shower with cracks. Worked great until shower could be remodeled.
When it’s mold, you better get it all removed under containment with air scrubbers vented outside. Mold IS an emergency ALWAYS. It almost destroyed my family.
Yes you can still get tar because I just repaired my roof w/ it to stop a leak while we save up to pay cash for a new roof . One brand is Black Jack , you can get it in a bucket or for your calk gun , which is what I did , it works great .
Yeah. You can buy it at any hardware store. I think Walmart has it.
But what’s if your emergency fund is gone because you had an emergency, and now your a/c stops working and it’s 100 deg. F outside. What then?
A window unit is only $250. You don't need full house AC to live
You don't need _any_ AC to live.
@@fsmoura Yes you do. For most people that is hot.
Heat and humidity can create mold. Along with other health problems.
@@donjohnson1416 Yes, that's what we did when our a/c was out, we bought a window unit for the bedroom, and at least there was one cool room in the house we could go into if we needed to, until we could get the house a/c fixed.
Buy a capacitor for $20 and fix it yourself.
You build a real emergency fund before throwing everything at debt.
I don’t think the BS1 fund is big enough and frankly, I don’t think the BS3 fund is either.
Nope, the bathroom isn't an EMERGENCY so that's pretty stupid
@@rachelharrison7961 cool, it's Dave's plan you are free to do your own thing. He's not changing it for a couple of whiners like y'all lol. Sucks you can't cancel him doesn't it?
Mathematically speaking you should throw everything at debt ASAP, and if any emergencies come up you take on additional debt. The cash sitting in your emergency fund could be paying down principal.
Agreed. We saved 3.5K before we began paying off debt. A water heater costs 1.5k to install and buy new here in North Jersey, the $1K ain’t going to cut it in a true emergency. I mean, he really needs to update that amount to at least $2k
I bet this guy waived inspection when he purchased and paid over asking price.
Even with the waiver offer, you still want to inspect them just in case. You can always back out if you find a big problem.
I cringe when people call in and chuckle when Dave asks about the cars ..😒
Hey don't beat up on flex seal that stuff works pretty good
Flex Seal won't won't replace damaged wood and remove the mold.
It's crazy good. Didn't the Mythbusters build an entire boat out of tissue paper and flex seal?
_"The toilet repair cost seven thousand dollars???"_
_"Well, you should see the state it gets in after my wife goes there"_ (" -.-)
You aren't supposed to own a home; rent for the rest of your life and drive $3000 cars
Drywall and tilework and cement board and water proofing can be done easily after watching some youtube videos.
not for everyone!!!!!!!!
@@summerforever6736 there are tutorials for everything on RUclips. Just copy what a craftsman does. It will take your hole Saturday instead a couple of hours, but it saves sooooo much money....
@@einCAA I am doing it on my own ...
Construction is not for everyone ..
@@summerforever6736 construction isn't something for the rich. Everyone else has enough time in the world to learn everything that is necessary to fix most things in your home.
My wife does drywall stuff, but we pay for other things.
Isn’t roofing tar called pitch?
Dyi my friend is probably 2500 to do the bathroom
This one ain’t too sharp is he?
Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Third world style can get you out of a lot of pickles especially if you have the right friends and are willing to sweat to get it done
sounds like you're organizing a raid to massacre the neighboring village ( o.o)
Just take out a 20k student loan! 🤔
LOL!!!
Joe doesn’t know anything about it.
All callers seem to be making $100k
6:48 Dave knew he was gonna do an unpaid endorsement and he pointed and tried to get his attention 😆
✝️🙏
You wait for someone else to bail you out
Start repairs you can. The bathroom will be a daily reminder to pay down debt fast! (As long as your wife is on board.)
It seems like everyone/most of the people who call in are not in that dire of situation at all... just looking for a little motivation from daddy
Fix the leak, that is an emergency. Renovation or addition is not an emergency! You need to do the math if you can afford an addition or renovation.
1st question waking in another man's shoes: does your wife have abs?
If you net 110 I would fix the bathroom first
Meanwhile Flexseal stock: S T O N K S!
Henry's in the blue can.
Essentially 🤦♀️
Don’t pay for it! Brandon will pay for it.
You mean tax payers who didn’t take out student loans, or already paid for their kids college and or paid their own loans off.
@@dcg590 Life isn't fair.
I’m with Dave I would rather share a bathroom with the wife than ditch my off-road toys
Sad
Tale away their man cards. Can you buy tar now days? What kind of question is that?
Them darn millennials nowadays can't even change a tire, much less repair a roof.
I’ll just budget it.
Roofing tar is still available, it’s now called ‘waterproof cement roof sealant’.
Call it what you like, it’s still roofing tar…very sticky and black in color.
Thanks for what you do.
Steve
As usual, good advice.
This is why you should have CC's.
Cause they really don't NEED this bathroom but could easily go into debt fixing it ? Lol probably the stupid reason they are in the spot they are in already ha ha ha.
@@donjohnson1416 In the winter time, it will get cold in there. Which in turns make you use more heat.
If it’s student debt don’t pay it! Use that 10k for your home.
And remember when you rent you throw away money.
No, you don't. It's just a cost of having a place to live.
Do you really believe you own your house? Stop paying taxes on it and see what happens. A house is the only asset you will never truly own.
Home warranty time!!!! Lol
@Eddy Edwards hasn't been my experience and it sure beats having NOTHING at all.
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. I think I’d just wait if I’m in his shoes
With the increasing water crisis and Las Vegas 80% water dependency on Lake Mead/Colorado River I would sell and move.
It is an emergency. Especially if the other bathroom is without a shower.
Hi Dave. Neil from Toronto, Canada. I would like to purchase " The starter special Dave's #1 bundle. Do you not ship to Canada? Hopefully. Really looking forward to starting this journey.
The bathroom repair should come first.
You can do the bathroom and pay off debt at the same time. Millions of people do that everyday.
You don't have to do one thing at a time.
A second bathroom isn’t really needed for a 2 person home
Not if you live with a heavy hitter like my wife ( o.o)
@@WhoDevv He said the floor is buckling.
And it's down to the studs.
Come winter time, with no installation in the wall, if it faces outside. It will get cold.
For a second bathroom? Lol. Tell us more how much drama and debt you live in.
@@donjohnson1416 Maybe that second bathroom don't have a shower.
Once again, a man in debt due to one reason...a wife.
The caller is lucky he has a functional bathroom, other wise Dave would suggest a port-a-john Dave wants to sell cars, but never asked how much is owed on them. Again, how do you sell a car retail, wnem you owe on it and don't have the title ?
Dave says this regularly, take a personal loan for the difference and pay the loan back when you sell the car
Yes, he did ask how much was owed on them. Maybe you should watch the video.
Just live with one bath or learn to fix it yourself. Im a handyman and in all honestly its not a hard job to do, and 7k is far to much.
I am a contractor and at this point, we up ther with the scammers lool
