Every time he mentions narwall, I can’t help but think of Elf.
Bye buddy, I hope you find your dad
I just love how weirdly comforting Les's work is.
Watching Survivorman is like hanging out with an old friend.
Right, it's my comfort show
I can only give a lame joke. Les is more.
Very much agree.
Agree I’ve seen some episodes 10-15 times
Quite literally he shares his life stories and info about plants animals history atop of teaching you of survival
watching les fish and being all happy after he catches one is literally the best thing, it makes me genuinely happy
Yeah, when he displays his catch and then is describing what happened. He shows so much happiness and satisfaction he literally laughs with joy, real joy. He knows that not only will he survive he will have one of the best meals ever.
Same
Especially when you know what it's like to miss a meal because you couldn't get it
IKR i was grinning like a fool when i first saw this episode
I know what you mean. I keep coming back to watch this episode randomly since it aired just to see him catch the fish
I was so happy he caught those fish.
Les is a genius at work. From him surviving solo, filming the entire thing at a professional level without a crew, and the ability to speak so eloquently and narrate his own show is remarkable. Not to mention, he also wrote and sang the opening theme song for the show. Great job with your career Les been watching you since a young kid 15 years ago.
Funny. Scrolling through the comments and I see your picture. Currently playing osrs while watching
@@lucashinderliter3662 xD
@@SteadfastHero same lol. cookin in myths guild
@@rubikquitous8482 Heck yeah
Hey, i watched your RS guides! Lol
As I recall from the commentary, this is the episode where the rescue crew was stuck in smokey greasy tents eating really bad tasting canned food while Les was gorging himself on Arctic Char.
he had to go without food for 4 days, i bet the crew wouldnt want to do this
Barry was pissed
Where can I watch the version with commentary?
there was also an episode where he fished fresh salmon and made some of the crew jealous
@@3312-q2e actually he fast a week before his trips. So 11 days.
Les’ energy before and after the fish meal is insane! Dudes Lethargic as hell before but the second that fish is on he is so pumped and after he eats you can hear the difference in his voice!
All that rain. Thought we was in Seattle
It's true. A hot hearty meal will give you a serious moral boost.
That was a man who not only knew he was going to eat, but he was going to eat good.
the more he struggled with the fish the harder i laughed😁
Somewhere out there, that sock is still burning.
Hahahahaha
😂
when he caught those fish I can't stop smiling, can feel his joy right across the screen. What a legend!
love seeing Les catch a meal, sit by the fire and rest!
Watching Les almost starve is pretty hard. Hearing his voice explain how he almost didn't go fishing, and then trailing off into laughter.. dude was absolutley famished.
Les is the original.....I began watching him around 2005 or 2006.
He is amazing.
Same
bush tucker man and ray mears as well back to the 80's,not quite the same but equally as knowledgeable to be fair, all men you'd want by yer side, but les likes to rough it,shtf style lol
Bear Grylls was doing this before Les, but Les is better. Grylls is a phony.
How can I survive with a gun a premade wooden shack and a canoe and free whale blubber and a fishing pole..... o wait that’s easy as shit no wonder people don’t watch this guy lol bear grills is better this dudes a hack
@@zoogey1 thats a good one lol
One of my favorite things to do is watch Les freeze and starve while I'm bundled up in bed with a snack.
lmao same, when I was a kid survivorman was my favourite show to watch while eating a nice meal 😂
Hahahaha lol I used act like I was my own narrator getting food from the kitchen like I was les
🤣
Same.
This made me laugh so hard. And I think most of us watching are guilty of that hahaha
I’m a freak about Les and Survivorman, I’ve seen every thing he’s ever done. This is by far my favorite episode and location.
These old episodes are the best, in my opinion. They first aired during a really lousy time in my life, and yet I have bittersweet memories of being alone and watching the first three seasons. The grain of the footage, the original moody music, the beautiful places... these things kept me company. There would be those nearly hopeless days when my greatest joy was finding that a few episodes were on, so I'd fall asleep watching them because of the vibe.
It taught me a great lesson, watching these old episodes: Les was always alone himself, yet he always survived and we got our fade to black. I will always treasure this program, I still fall asleep accompanied by Mr. Stroud.
I appreciate that! I have similar feeling, pal
Exact same
Exactly the same sentiment, these and steve the MRE guy, used to watch these and helped me forget problems and go to sleep
exactly me now
With all that's happening in the world, I really miss the 00s now.
The best meal in all the survivorman shows
Hands down.
I agree, his South Pacific meal is really good too!
What about the witchetty grubs?
@@charliedroves5610 that was nasty as hell lmao. But I guess it works.
@@bailey_host that was for sure my favorite episode. My only criticism about his show is he never shows him gutting an animal. Some people really dont know how to do it, believe it or not
man how cool would it be to sit inside those mound circles I mean its like energies and spirits from a 1000 years ago amazxing
My sister worked as a cook on Baffin Island and brought home some smoked Arctic Char. To this day it's one of my favorite things I've ever tasted.
my favorite episode, catching those fish was a site to see..
The man that everyone else poorly copies and TRIES to be!! Keep kicking ass Les!!👊✌
Matt Simpkins sb the man that stays in hotels
@toney gange Ageed!!!!
Justin Thompson
You mean Bear Grylls? The man who fakes tons of stuff on his show?
This guy always brings and conveniently finds necessities to makes his only 7 days alone easier like fishing poles , easy fire starting , dude if u have fresh water like he does in this episode 7 days without food is 100% not life threatening , staying fully hydrated and the most minor foods ur fine in 7 days . Fans of this guy need to just admit they love the show for many reasons but stop trying to say this dude is the legit a survivalist with the bare minimum lol he caught a fish with a fishing pole and started a fire with a battery “ with charge conveniently “ and wool , this ain’t rocket science or skill this is planning before filming , just admit the shows great cause he seems like a good dude and we like seeing people outside the cities roughing it , 99% of the time he ain’t out there with just his clothes asked to survive for 7 days .
@@slamminsammy941 Can you give a link to your show? Sounds like it must be pretty bad ass.....
Catching those fish must have been such a rewarding adrenaline hit
Beautifully filmed and crafted.
"Whooo hoo hoooo! Hahahahahaah!"
Pure unadulterated joy when you catch those fish.
Weird to say, but this was the show that my family would come together on friday nights and watch. My stepdad had a whole bunch of tv recordings of survivorman episodes that he had been collecting, so that was what we watched. Still watching to this day, love the content.
It's not weird, it's a wholesome show with a lot of great lessons. 👍🏻
Les should do an episode of being lost in space. He’s been everywhere in the planet so that’s all that’s left 😂
Building a fire and catching fish in the vacuum of space, I would like to see that one. 🙂
That would be awesome. Did he ever do Antarctica though?
Growing potatoes on Mars, running out of ketchup. I would watch that.
This is hands down one of my fav episodes. Mainly because Les actually has enough food and really enjoys himself here.
So happy this is available. Literally the one thing that kept me coming back to the discovery channel back when I actually watched cable television.
same here
I was so worried that gulls would swoop down and steal his catch like they do on touristy boardwalks!
I saw a seagull swallow a rat whole once, those birds are crazy.
it always brings a smile to my face watching you light up after catching those fish.
You asked what everyone at home is doing well I broke my hip 4 days ago and now after surgery I am stuck in bed watching you on your adventures probably for like the fifth time! Lol the escape I need right now thank you
If those fish watched survivorman maybe they could have survived survivorman , knowledge is power
Those fish need to buy Les's DVD's and get on his level.
The fish watches to much man vs wild.
This is by far the best episode of all Survivorman! It’s incredible how much of this episode I could remember 15 years later
Easily one of my favorite episodes, the Arctic is so beautiful in an isolating way. There's something so visceral about the Great North.
This proves the saying, "it's the small things in life". Especially in survival mode- c'est la vie 🙃.
This is forever my favorite episode. I’m drawn back to it time and time again year after year. Thank you Les for the years of challenging missions and entertainment you’ve provided us. 🙏🏼
Him catching the fish and eating them is my favorite segment of any Survivorman episode ever!!!
Everytime I watch this episode and see Les eating those Arctic Char, it always makes me hungry.
Now you made me hungry, time to cook up some fish
I heard char was very delicious.I never had the opportunity to try it.Wish I did.
One of my favorite episodes.
I freaking love this episode. I think its the fish he catches, displays and eats.
25:20 - I love the exact timing on the music just as Les catches that first fish!!😀😀
Man that fish looks sooo good to and cutting it native way makes me miss home
"with no camera crew"
The guy behind him vibing lol1:55
This is the best survival show by far. I remember when Bear followed up with his show, with him showing off with extreme stuff (the show sucks). Anyway, thank you Les.
Bear was a hot-dog, a show-off. One episode where he over nighted in a swamp, he did a back flip off a tree branch into the water instead of just jumping in normally. Les is type of guy I’d rather drink a beer with around a campfire.
agree... but you gotta admit that it is bear who made survival show famous world wide... specially in my country India.
You les fanboys forget to admit les brags about his filming himself 20 times an episode and conveniently always has equipment to make his survival not only easier but usually easy enough that I could be fine for a week myself, bear doesn’t brag about being the most realistic he just wants to show some things to do when lost in the wild , he’s not trying to say shit about being this or that , online has to try and make everything the best or most popular of a category it’s unnecessary, I like les’s show and I liked bear grylls show they are different , les doesn’t live only on the bare minimum he usually has a survival kit that makes his trip easier , acting like bear can’t survive with a kit alone is stupid I could survive alone for only 7 days with a kit to start fires and conveniently containers of some sort to store rain water like les always somehow finds 20 feet away from where he lays the cameras .
@@slamminsammy941 Yeah, I don't trust any man that literally eats shit. The things he's trying to show you are things that'll kill you in a real survival situation.
@@slamminsammy941 the odds are if your in a position to get lost in the bush, you have supplies. That adds to the realism. Why would anyone be in the middle of the Arctic with absolutely no supplies. It just don’t make any sense.
Is laughing and just pure joy on his face when he catches food after being hungry and not having luck, it's just pure and I love it!
My son and I watched this together when it first came out....we thought it was his best episode....
I always enjoy the episodes where les actually finds substantial food bc so many episodes watching him starve makes you feel for him
Was anyone else as excited as he was when he caught those fish? Lol 😂 incredible
Also, the morning of day 5. The upwards shot with the words “made in Canada” behind him. Classic
Product of Canada.
There's nothing better in life than seeing and hearing someone elses genuine happiness; that first fish illustrates that, and it's infectious.
I love his genuine joy when he catches a fish after not eating for 5 days. Les you are a hero.
What a difference in his mood before he caught and ate the hot fish meal. Huge difference. Also, love hearing people complain about hours and hours of continuous rain. Here in Las Vegas, NV, we count our yearly rain in minutes for the entire year.
" That's what you look like to me". 🎥 I thinks that's the first time he's done that ...4th wall be damned🤣🤣
The OG survival legend. I remember watching this ep years and years ago and the fish moment is still just as good.
I’m soooo used to you losing when it comes to hunting and fishing so I was nearly as excited as you were 😂
The way you reacted to that first Arctic char bite, he was already in the frying pan. It was a text book landing, and then the celebration, loved it. But good eye to spot the narwhal driving them in, and getting back out there while the gettin' was good. And it was good. 😃👍
I've been watching this series through. Seen in rapid progression it's like watching an old D&D ranger level up progressively. He spent most of the first season starving all week, barely finding water or sleeping, meanwhile trying to show us this or that, and now, 2 seasons later, he leaves the freaking arctic warm and happy and with a full belly, using skills we saw him learn all through the previous episodes, even season one. He only left early this time because the crew were scared, not Les. This has been a wonderful progression.
Be proud Les. I know you've already saved many lives with this show, keep that up. I hope you don't end up saving mine, but I'm prepared as you want us to be.
One of the best meals on you tube is an episode of Survivorman. Mmmmm full and feeling alright about the consuming.
I am sure we all are 90s kids here remembering our childhood time discovery channel at late nights
When he catches the Arctic char, it was one of the best things I have ever seen I felt for him
Everyday after school I will do my homework right away and sit down and watch survivor man with my brothers, so many great memories watching Les.
He’s a master. Gotta love it. Raw living.
I love his attitude towards obstacles. He always knows how far to go...and not go. Cool!
Les is one of very few people I believe when they say the wind is cold.
Les Stroud is without a doubt the bravest man I've ever seen.
Just wanted to jump in with others to say thanks for putting these out here!
I like Les so much! As real as survival gets! Dude STARVES for a damn week or more. A Hero.
You can tell he got a huge energy boost after eating the fish lol
Amazing that he had a battery and then found steel wool.....It`s cool I still love his shows
This is amazing.. I felt so good for him when he finally caught a fish!! I was jumping and throwing punches in the air and shouting and clapping and smiling a lot.. Les Stroud, you are a super person. Thank you for uploading these (and for making 'em in the first place) ♥
When Les catches those fish is my all time favorite moment on Survirman.
Love you Les, I've grown up watching your show and reading your books. You've given me such a good appreciation for the Earth and everything that we take for granted
To this day my favorite episode and moment of SurvivorMan. Once he reels in that second fish and he's at a loss for words just says it all.
Gotta love his relieved giggling after he caught the second char
Crystal.
Mr Stroud. Very fortunate finding usable steel wool in the arctic.
He tends to be lucky with his finds. Uncannily so as others have noticed
From crazy, starving lucid dreams to happy days are here again. He's been there before. It's great to see him score big, beats the hell out of frozen roots. *Couldn't help worrying about him and the polar bears, no doubt not as much as he was O.o Great stuff Mr. Les
always makes me happy seeing the joy on les face when he lands a fish
These episodes are pure gold. Ive been watching these since my high school years and i can never get enough. Thank you for your incredible work Les!
I have to turn up the heat just by watching this. Brrrrrr!
Favorite show, I learn everytime I watch an episode. You show it all, catching the fish, cleaning, cooking. Building a shelter. I love it. You are the real deal.
I live in Patagonia...and I'm pretty sure that is no wind at all..,.
Hello Les. Been watching you for near about 20 years. And quite simply put, your survivorman series and your beyond survival series have changed the way I look and comprehend different cultures around the world and also how I look upon myself. And where I fit into everything. I don't know I just want to thank you you're one of my heroes
"It's still coming in, the rain on me here. But, there's a little bright spot in the sky up there, so, who knows."
Anybody who has been on a camping trip in northern Europe knows how welcome that 'little bright spot' is, and the optimism it can bring.
I have been watching Survivorman everyday for about a month now lol I still remember when it first came out and it was an instant favorite
Just had to Self Isolate for two weeks .. Les and these superb films have been a survival kit in themselves . Thanks Les!
This is litrally the only show I can watch on youtube all the way through and binge. Just awesome info and content. Love les and his way of speaking. Simple and to the point.
I can be watching another channels video, but if I see less stroud survivorman pop up, I always have to watch it, although I've seen them all many times already. His show never gets old!
Les is the only man that can survive Mars.
Matt Damon also can haha
For the people upset about youtube ads. They have this youtube plus or whatever it's called. It's 9.99 a month. If you can swing it, it's so worth it. Makes youtube SO much better. I forgot to pay this past month, and went less than a day before I remembered how much is sucked cutting out to ads non stop. Love that les put these all up for free. I could binge his content for days straight.
Bringing back my childhood ☺️
The landscape really is enchanting. I’d love to spend a year on Baffin in a cabin just fishing and writing.
Les is the survival 🐐
It's true the best thing you'll eat is anything after not eating for a few days. Most I've gone is two days and on the third day caught a few rainbow trout. Grilled in a pan in three day old bacon grease with zero salt or pepper was better than any fine cuisine I've ever had.
I totally agree! Some tough-guy keyboard warrior (above) was complaining about Les chewing the fish with his mouth open. I replied telling him/her about how I got stranded once, and after only 3 days without food, I was chewing the leather off my gloves and biting off what I could of my own fingernails and swallowing them. It's one of those things that you just don't get if it hasn't happened to you.
i lay in bed every night watching his vids ... so relaxing and informational thank you for all you do! xo
Right! Makes the bed feel cosier, food taste better, and just makes for the perfect mood to unwind and relax
25:39 one of my favourite moments of the series, maybe my favourite!
After all the years, fishing vindication!
The og of survival! Love this and the original dual survival.
The og of smacking loud af when he eats
My grandmothers people are canadian indian people full blood reservation ,feathers whole thing lol
this was a good episode but finding a 12 volt battery in the arctic is very rare if it has any charge due too the cold weather ,usually the battery is dead and cant throw a spark if sitting long you were lucky as you say, the whale drove the char too land lucky again for a feast !!
Hunger is the greatest spice of all.
Amen to that! Over cooked ramen even the best meal I ever had after coming off a fast! I love that first meal, part of the reason I enjoy a good fast now and then
I know, it always annoys me when people say, "I'm not eating that" while watching a show like this. Uh, you're stupid if you think after a week without ANYTHING to eat that you'd be picky 😂
i was so happy for Les when he caught that fish!!!
This was the one show that i watched constantly with my family and learning how to survive if we needed to so glade i found it in youtube now 🥰❤️🇨🇦
I could hear the true joy in your laugh when you caught those fish!!!
@5:22 "This feels like dejavu".
Laughed my ass off at this. For those who don't know, he was in an almost identical situation during season 1 in the arctic.
