. I have fond memories of enjoying films in a number of the THX certified cinemas in the Los Angeles area back in the 1980's and 1990's. Films such as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Batman, The Abyss, and Dances with Wolves. The sense of showmanship these theaters displayed really provided for a very satisfying motion picture experience. I don't think the current state of movie theaters can really compare to those venues of 30 to 40 years ago. Although l haven't been to a movie theater in quite some time, I feel that the THX cinemas were the proverbial gold standard for motion picture presentation. The Stag Theater at Skywalker Sound which is pictured as this video's thumbnail image, must be a tremendous venue for the dedicated people who are involved with motion picture production. Thank you George Lucas for raising the bar!
It's telling why it appears we don't see the logo that often anymore. I've been having many sound issues with my local theatres here in Mississauga as well as in Toronto, so I often wonder if THX Certifications are even being done on theatres up here in Canada. Occasionally I get free movie passes for filing my complaints at the aging theatres, but it's a bittersweet reward when it's at the cost of my full enjoyment of the films in willing to pay to go see. In this age of home systems vying for the top viewership, I'd expect even the older medium sized town theatres to be doing their absolute best to ensure those aspects of quality to be met. Blown speakers should be replaced within days, not years.
I went to Cinimak XD with THX certification and the sound was so low we could not hear all the dialogue in fact it was lower then the regular room because we got a refund and went to the regular room why are the XD volume run so low it is depressing
Funny thing is, I I the opposite happen. The Lancaster Ohio location is VERY LOUD, almost clipping the sound half the time. The movie I saw was "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom".
Maybe the did THX certification, and a speaker blew replaced it and or fussed with settings and they didn't tell THX to come check it out again, but just kept the THX certification. I would hope THX visits these theaters at least twice a year to ensure they maintain the standard and or yang the THX certification
Eric Modzelesky I saw a THX logo at a theater at RAVE, but the next time I was there, it didn't play. EDIT: The Regency theater in California plays the intro in the THX Ultimate Cinema auditorium. I've heard that the Cinemark XD theaters also use it, but I haven't been to a Cinemark since they started to use their new trailer(Genesis).
Movies Havasu, and star cinemas need the thx ultimate demo disc cds to put them in the movie theater projectors after the previews, and before the movie starts.
I wish that the THX logo would be used in Regal Cinemas
@@maryhernandez9986 not me because I have THX Phobia

It will be cool if it was used to improve audio quality.
What about Regal, AMC, Cinemark, and the rest of these?
