These highlights were ridiculous. The first half of the video every point they showed was a winner by Potapova until set point where Halep finally gets a point and wins the set 6-1. You would have thought Potapova would have won the set 6-0. Why a video like this would get upvotes is beyond me.

I thought the same thing.
Maybe Halep was simply more consistent, whereas Potapova had more winners (to show for the highlight reel), but also more errors, therefore leading Halep (who has way less errors) to win the first set.
I don’t know, and I do agree with you though, Halep would have at least had some good shots in the opening set, and they didn’t show any until the second set.

Poor Simona, acording to this highlights she practically was whiped from the court by Potapova, luckily she got the match as a consolation prize!

I’d love to see her win a couple more before retiring but yeah beating Serena the way she did where she did was defining enough if she never wins again.

To be fair, I don’t really think Halep is ‘overrated’ as such, she has made 5 slam finals, and has been world number 1 for approximately 2 whole seasons. She has been so consistent since around 2014 so you have to give that to her.
I can kind of see how you may think she is overrated, yet, she does deserve all she has earned and worked for.

It was potapova in the highlights and yet halep won the watch fairly comfortably with a 6-1 and 6-4.

Deceptively, being a human highlight reel is not directly correlated with success. Case: Kyrgios
It just means that Halep didn't have much highlight worthy because she won most of her points off Potapova's errors. Look how wildly out Potapova was on the two set points.

exactly, i just watched Ons Jabeur play semifinal in Indian Wells Friday and four days later watched her against Alexandrova in Moscow with 0 recovery time no wonder why she retired from that match

Halep is a so physical athlete, I mean she needs a lot of time to get her rhythm back so it won't be 8 or 10 matches that this happens. If Potapova had been more precise in the decisive moments she'd have had total chances because Halep out of rhythm can beat anyone out of the top 10, you can't miss so much. Potapova doesn't gotta be happy obviously because she lost but it wasn't as easy as the score makes it look (straight sets).
And IF the Earth were flat...If if if...Get serious.
There were a lot of amazing rallies! I really do think Potapova could be a better player with better coaching

Sorry but I disagree. They show the best rallies and the winners. Matches are often determined by errors, but who wants to see a bunch of mis-hits into the net or wide of the court?
@@scotth6814 there were numerous long rallies which ended with an error. Show them. Not every point has to end with a winner

Potapova won't be a mainstay on this tour if she doesn't get that serve together. That ball toss is so erratic. The talent is there tho she just needs more molding. Not surprised most of the highlights are her winners since she is the bigger hitter. Halep won this by being Halep: consistent & solid.
Potapova kept shouting "come on"! , although she was losing.
Ok the quality of highlights and the scoreline tell two different stories.... I thought Potapova defeated halep something like 6-1,6-2 but surprise
This highlights is misleading, it makes you believe that Anastasia won, because the focus is on every point she won

Not sure Halep had two vaccines doses yet, but after the first one she started to feel weaker and weaker.. she is much better now, I'd say. Hopefully her health will be back to normal soon 🙏

The highlights are so misleading....
Russia on the women's side has a lot to do with regard to tennis, at the moment there is NOT a player who makes weight on the circuit, both against top players and outside the ranking. They have to do a kind of psychoprophylaxis within the Russian WTA, to know which players there are and which players are on the way so that, as I said before, make weight within the female circuit. Already on the male side there's a good group of boys who are within the ranking and those who are on the way. IMHO! 💪🏻💛🎾🤷🏻♂️

Is there a reason why overheads are disappearing from the WTA tour and be replaced by high forehand swinging volleys?
She was to far behind running in to hit the volley she went with the safer shot
@@janiel411browne I am not specifically speaking about this match, but many players choose not to hit overheads.
I don't think smash volleys have ever been a thing in WTA...Serena is the only one I've ever seen regulary do one that I can think of in the 21st century. I think the transition to more powerful hitters had a lot to do with the rise in popularity of the swing volley in more recent years. It usually comes from a forced error during a rally where 1 player is overpowering the other.
Halep won the tennis match. Potapova won the screaming match.
