  • Centrally located, just five minutes northwest of downtown Los Angeles, the neighborhood of Silver Lake, CA has become a popular destination for those looking for urban convenience and spacious hillside homes.
Regarded as one of LA’s hippest neighborhoods, Silver lake attracts a diverse population of film and music professionals, families and young urbanites.
The influx of Hollywood studios during the early 1900’s, brought with it the first wave of actors and a desire for diverse architectural styles. The area is home to some of the best examples of Tudor, Spanish, Arts and Crafts and Midcentury Modern homes, like the famous VDL Research House, Designed by famed architect Richard Neutra. The palatial Canfield-Moreno (or Paramour) estate, sits high atop Micheltorena Street, with 360-degree views of Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles.
Three public Schools and 4 private schools make Silver Lake an ideal location for young families. Ivanhoe School is ranked among the top public elementary schools in the LA unified school district.
Whether it’s kite flying in the Silver Lake Meadow or jogging the 2.2 mile path around the reservoir, you will find no shortage of activities to experience all that this vibrant neighborhood has to offer.
Silver Lake’s iconic Sunset Junction, as well as the retail strip of central- Silver Lake Blvd is home to a variety of trendy restaurants, elegant cafes, boutique shops and a twice-weekly farmers market. The proximity of attractions along Silver Lake and Sunset Blvd make Silver Lake one of LA’s most walkable neighborhoods.

+Jenny Durling That sounds great. I'm definitely considering it. I heard that LA has a great IT field there. I was researching Echo Park and Venice.

What's wrong with rebuilding urban decay and dangerous ghettos into nice, desirable areas?

      Isaac Detherage,
Silver Lake was never a dangerous ghetto. It was always upper middle class. But, now it’s a hipsterized version of upper middle class.

Silverlake is perfect if you want to be a hip urbanite, but in the safety of your own homogeneous bubble.

I love Silverlake. It's a great place to visit. But unless you are rich, it's not a great place to live.

FYI - LA natives do not consider Silver Lake to be considered "North East Los Angeles". Anything east of downtown LA is considered East LA or SGV.
