Actually finding water colour painting videos are really difficult because using watercolour for painting are very rare and this is really helpful. So please do not stop and do more other videos for students like us,
I started to be interested in watercolor about three weeks ago, and I've been browsing all over internet for introductions and tutorials. So far Eric is absolutely the best teacher I've seen. I feel so fortunate to come across this channel. Thank you Eric!
Thank You Very Much Sir. I am an architecture student and I'm struggling with using watercolor that is why I'm looking for tutorials and I found your videos. It's very helpful.
Wow, what a solid and thorough tutorial. Thank you! Regarding the color of water, water is actually transparent, so the color comes primarily from reflections. It often looks blue on a clear day because the sky is blue, and gray on an overcast day, and of course, green when it’s reflecting trees. I think the depth primarily plays a role when it allows you to see what’s underneath, for example, when it’s shallow.
Im so grateful im getting a real education on water color painting from you. From understanding d subject to understanding d process of color and lights interplaying in d paper. Thank u Eric . U are absoutely awesome teacher . Pls keep on doing ur craft . Ur helping many people here . Godbless u and ur family
Softer edges in the bg ripples, sharper in the fg.....how this is not something i really payed attention before? Doesn't matter...since Eric is here for enlightening us all! 👍👍👍
After taking class for class (some $$$) on painting water, all my water looked like soup. Or concrete. Somehow i stumbled on cafe watercolor, not even trying to paint. But suddenly it made sense. The way you explain things is so clear and logical. My brain likes your words, I think. I don’t know what it is, but I know I’m happy now. And grateful that there is such a brilliant and genius teacher here. A huge thank you!
Wow! Thank you soooo much, Eric! This is the most explicit tutorial I’ve ever seen for painting water in water color. Also I like the way that you structure types of waters into three simple models. I never thought that a artist can analyze nature with a rational mind.
As soon as you said water was a surface that obeys the laws of physics, you had me! Thanks for bringing science into the process, and for your clear explanation!
Hey, this is my second comment on this video😅... When the last time i commented i was new to this medium, the techniques and all that stuff.... But really i have to say this... U don't just make videos, you actually teaching us... No show off, no skipped parts, explaining every detail. This shows that you really wants to spread your knowledge... I've also seen that video in which you show us how to simplify details using snapseed.. And following that i really learned how to simplify it in my minds eye.... Thank you teacher 😘🙏🙌👏👍
I've been on and off painting and painting classes all my life, trying most common techniques, reaching all kinds of frustation and getting to a point where I didn't even like painting... until two years ago when I gave watercolors a real try, and fell IN LOVE. Thing is... this must be the best art teacher I've found so far... This is a true master class. Looking forward to some free time to put more of your videos on practice. Thank you @Café Watercolor - Eric Yi Lin
What a terrific watercolor lesson!! I've been so intimidated about using watercolor to paint water, I usually revert to my tried and true acrylic process. Now I can tackle it with more confidence. Thank you for sharing what you are learning, you are a terrific teacher!!
Wow! You amaze me again! I've been painting water for years and now with your wonderful tips, I feel I will finally get the results I desire. You always have fresh, new tips that you explain extremely well. I continue to share your videos with friends. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I'm a huge fan.
Your videos are so well constructed! I love the way you analyze reality to translate it into watercolor, it makes things so much clearer. I gained some understanding at how to paint water from this one, so thank you!
Eric's lessons are wonderful. No long life stories before each lesson. When you open up the tutorial you get exactly what you asked for. Brilliant teacher thanks.
This is a great job of demonstrating how you organized your ideas, ordered your steps, and the techniques you used to get specific effects. I've seen a lot of painting 'demos', but they turn out to be skills exhibitions by established artists. Even though they paint well, they don't explain why they made certain decisions to get a desired outcome. It can be frustrating, so I appreciate your very methodical approach. It's helping me a great deal, and I feel like I'm much better prepared to try it own my own after your guidance. Thank you!
Once again you hit the button (I'm busy with a still lake piece with sharp reflections) and help me improve my painting enormously. Such well planned and executed videos Eric. Thank you so much 😃.You're the best around RUclips
I have seen many tutorials on the Internet and by far you are the one who is the clearest in how to do it and why. And it looks so easy... I'm just starting the landscapes. I've done portraits and flowers but landscapes are more difficult for me. I tend to put too much color and not enough fluidity. It's not always easy for me to feel the humidity of the paper. With a lot of practice and your tutorials, I guess I should improve.
All my life I have wanted to paint in watercolour and I have never succeeded over many many years, but you are making my dreams come true, it is just brilliant and filled with so much advice I have to keep watching it over and over. Please keep the videos coming and again many many many thanks, you are such a good teacher😁😁🌼🌻🌷🍇💖
Thank you Erik, this is the best explanation about painting water. I'm still a beginner, I'm painting a mill on a river, but I paint all the scene on the land, and now I want to paint the water and the reflections of the trees and the building. That's my first mistake, not painting the lighter part in the whole painting. And I'm still bound to the photo, it's very hard to simplify because I usually paint botanical subjects.
Very nice demo of the rocky beaches in the sound. This is definitely the best rendering of the rocks under the water near the shore that I have seen. You captured the boat with a minimum of well placed strokes. Lovely painting. You have such a calm and pleasant teaching style.
I've watched so many watercolor videos, I'm not kidding when I say this is the most helpful one out there. Theory mixed with technique, specific honest, unambiguous instruction. This is incredible. Thank you. I'm your newest subscriber.
Hi. I really love all your lessons. I paint using three different mediums - acrylic, gouache and watercolor, and I am able to use the principles you are teaching in all of these mediums. Especially when it comes to color studies etc. It made me do an analysis of what I need to emphasize in a painting. Thank you so much. Kudos to you and your channel!

I like all the explaininhs about the different colour layers to get the different lights. This technics i will do when I go the next few days to the Bodensee. Thank you so much for this video with your kind words.
I never watch demo videos this long but I loved this one!!! Everything you said/showed us was so valuable and well constructed. Not all over the place or overly chatty like some other videos. Thank you for this and I loved the touches of the soft music and the ocean sounds while painting the demo pic near the end!!
Dear Eric, your tutorials have been such a huge help to me learning to paint with watercolors. You are brilliant, an excellent instructor, and your art is extraordinary. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
Thank you very much for probably the best explanation on painting water that I have come across. Living by the sea, your guidance here is going to be very useful.
It is so nice that how you broke it down how water behaves in different scenes. Demonstration is excellent. Thanks Eric. You helped me to learn to see things better.
