Thank you so much Matt. I watched the video first and later after work am going to try painting it myself. This is one of my favorite scenes to paint, but I struggle with pigment strength and my tonal values - on my own - my work comes out 'flat' looking. Your a great teacher and the way you explain each step and why, is really helping me. I will keep practicing! Hope you have a great day!
Wonderful technique ❤, saw another artist do the same begin with defining the reflection then paint ripple over almost like layering in Photoshop , great demo as usual Mr Mathew
Hi, thank you for a useful & clear tutorial. Have you done one in which there are more boats in one scene, ad if not, would you consider preparing one?
Great tutorial thanks. I actually used the same reference photo a few weeks ago and tried painting it, there are two boats in the original a second to the right of this one, but it works better as a single boat IMO. I wasn’t happy with how I handled the background and reflection, might give it another go cropped to one boat using the tips you shared.
You really do have a seemingly natural skill for instruction 😊 Can't wait to give this a try, as no matter how many seascapes I paint there's still so much to learn. I wanted to ask - is this CP or rough? I heard you mention the brand but not surface. Do you have a preference for landscapes? Thanks in advance!
140 lb paper? I really wish the US would convert to metric... like everyone else😜. How many gsm is 140 lbs? Thanks for the video, though. Watercolour looks like fun. I like working in graphite, but I'd like to give watercolour a go. Even a wash would be fun.

I am really enjoying the lessons. Question: do you ever leave the white of the paper for the light of an area? Thanks
It's as if you read my mind, I was hoping you'd cover this topic! YAY!
Love this tutorial and the way you call your colors by name with such love!
Dear Matthew, an excellent demo and technique. Thank you | Alex

When I use the water method to keep my paper down when it dries it always curls back up, but yours doesn’t seem too. What are you doing differently?
Thanks.
I drew everything when you did it so fast and I just found out he had an explanation

Love your videos Matt. But I see an uptick in how many ads you have now. Interrupts the flow
Я почему то не могу посмотреть 7 уроков.Наверное не судьба.
Hi, your technika is great, but the boat reflection is too long. The water is like a mirror.
waTer….. please for my ears 😉
Oh please, like you speak perfect English. Cut the guy some slack he’s a great painter that’s what you need to concentrate on.
