Watercolor Tutorials for *Absolute Beginners * - Week 1 Recap

  • This is a series I developed for instagram and a lot of the content is over 60 seconds, which means I can't post it to RUclips Shorts. On some of them I have been able to cut them down to try and shorten then, but some it takes too much of the information away. So I have decided to just upload a longer format video each week with a recap of what we went over during the week so you can see it here too!

    🎉 Absolutely celebrating having discovered you just 3 weeks into my watercolor adventure!!
    Your style, teaching approach and energy are exactly right for my learning style and vibe🎊
    Have been thinking about watercoloring for a year...bought initial supplies in May...and began painting 3 weeks ago.
    In more ways than one... I am home. ✨️

    Super helpful for reminders of things I knew and for being made aware of things I should know. I very much appreciate the quick pace, too -- I am a fan of: 1) observe the technique succinctly yet thoroughly presented, 2) practice it. I don't prefer a slow, relaxed, comfortable presentation as much as a sped up "here's how, now do it" approach. :-)
    Your approach makes me want to jump into it right away. THANKS!

    I love that you compiled the beginner Shorts this way. I would love it if you would do this with your daily sketchbook Shorts. Maybe seven days per video. I love the daily sketchbook Shorts and would love them in a group or even in their own playlist.

    7:13 Heat helps the adhesive to release? Before I tape down my paper, I stick the tape onto my jeans first, and afterwards onto the paper. It still blocks out water and paint, but is easily released from the paper when tearing it off.

      It does help release the adhesive, not holding the heat over it for TOO long, but it helps release the hold it has on the paper. I've head about people putting the tape on their clothes first, but having a dog....that's not usually a go-to option of mine 😅

    I'm a beginner and would like to know how wet your brush is before dipping in a color

    What type of glue did you use to make the card. A total newbie here and loving this idea.

    • @RebelUnicornCrafts
      @RebelUnicornCrafts  7 месяцев назад

      Just a regular glue stick will do the trick just fine 😊. Liquid elmers glue can run through the paper more and bleed through the other side. I hope you try it out!

    Why... please tell me why my "paintings" look like a 2 year old made them 🙈🙈🙈
    I follow your tutorials, and really a 2 year old does it way better 😂😂😂

      We are always our own worst critic. I promise a 2 year old doesn’t have as much control as you do. If more real-time instruction might help, I have a bunch of replays from TikTok lives and every is done in real time. That might help you possibly feel more successful. You’re doing great though!

      Well, because of your videos, I am addicted now... so practice will be happening every single free minute! (That's why I love water coloring!)
