I never noticed how much the Pros move the left shoulder up and around to clear the way like you're showing in the video. I don't do that now, but I can guarantee you that I will after I practice what showing here. It's like you're talking to me in person.. I'll keep watching your videos.. Keep them coming!!
Thanks for sharing!
i really enjoy your videos. I am a beginning golfer and am somewhat lazy in "NOT" wanting to practice the exercises. that is, until today. every drive but 4 went straight. they either topped or sliced. I am done with that garbage and am fully engrossed in this video. i believe I have replayed it at least three times and also put it on my phone so I can follow the instruction while on the driving range. Thanks from Dandridge Tennessee....
That's awesome! Glad to hear it's helping. Keep up the hard work!
I can’t believe this level of instruction is on RUclips. I love this channel. I feel like you really get what’s going wrong in my swing.
Thanks!

Honestly you are so talented as an instructor, your explanation is awesome.
I'm a happy golfer with anything less than 100. So I have gained some knowledge, thanks sir
Wow, thanks!
You are the MAN! I watched your driver videos and then went to the range and applied your techniques. I am absolutely piping ALL my drives! I’m hitting draws and fades on demand, I just can’t believe it! I’ve been playing golf for over 10 years and viewed many, many instructors...you are the best I’ve ever encountered! You could charge for your channel big time...but don’t do it...lol You do a wonderful job of teaching what you should be “feeling” as you swing! Keep up the great work!
Wow, thanks! Keep up the great shooting.
Man I needed this video. I’ve been struggling a lot with the driver lately. Drive great one day, go back 2 days later and can’t hit a ball to save my life. Can’t wait to try these tips at the range.
You got this!
Hi Clay, amazing comprehensive details on driver swing of about 38 minutes. Covering every aspect from the toe and heal, to ankles, opening up of hips and chest, movement of shoulders, the swing plane, wrist angles, the release pattern, draw, fades, straight drives, angle of attack, club head speed, smash factor, spin rate, dynamic loft, and much more. Clay keep it up, in my understanding of a bit of golf the video has covered it all for a driver. Your best drive with club head speed of 115.2, angle of attack of 2.8, low spin rate of 2485, smash factor of1.49 carry distance of 300.9 with total distance of 334.3 would be my target to achieve by February, 2022.
Technology does matter. I hope I have the right driver for achieving my goals.
This video was soooo helpful. Especially that cross arm shoulder drill.
Glad it was helpful!
This is your best video by far. Excellent information discussed in a common sense manner that is easy to understand!
I appreciate that!
Truly enjoyed your instruction videos. Your Explanation is clear, concise, easy to comprehend. Very helpful. I’m a single handicapper, golfing recreationally for 30 yrs, had only 2 one on one lesson and it didn’t help and sort of gave up on instructions and practices. Watching your videos really motivated me to practice more often. I know I’m going to increase my skills and improve my game. Thank you very much....Very helpful indeed.
Glad it was helpful!
I've watched loads of videos to generate more power less slice ,this video explains everything I've been doing wrong thanks
Glad to help!
Best instruction on RUclips!! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Thank yoiu very much for the clear guidelines...very useful for me: just beginning to learn the body swing at 68 y.o. ...Cheers!
Glad to help!
Man, it works! I have a tendency of sliding forward, guiding the club head to 1 o'clock (trying to draw it), which causes an unexpected slice when I'm trying to power it down the fairway. Straight back takeaway and staying back w/upward movement of my left shoulder when I release produces straighter and longer shot. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Clay!!! How did you know I was sitting down?!? Awesome instruction- loving your knowledge and leadership!! I’m using it today!! Thank you
Clay your teaching is extremely simple thank you !!
You are very welcome
I would like to see you take an average golfer (90 mph swing speed ,slicer) and give him a lesson so us average golfers can see the results, btw your videos have helped me for my many swing faults, thanks
And I am here to volunteer 😁

Thanks clay, I needed this one for a reset on set up!! 👍🏼
Glad to help. Play well!
You're a very talented instructor, Clay. All your videos are great!
I appreciate that!
Just realized that Clay hovers the club on some of his tee shots, maybe all of them? I tried this today at the range and BAM, game changer! I feel like my contact was much more consistent. After some brief googling I found out that both Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus did/do this! Norman actually has a description on his site as to why he thinks hovering the club is a great option! Going to try this out over 18 holes tomorrow!
Nice! 👍
Your tips helped me a lot.grateful.
Glad I could help!
Clay.... I can squat alot of weight and have always struggled with engaging my legs in the swing (ala Rory) but this was too simple. I've went from blah 265 yd drives to effortless 3bills. Thanks so much!
Nice 💪
I’ve been watching lot of Clay videos, making some really good progress, poked a few 290 drives the other day but still not consistent. Think I’m doin about everything he says but I’m striking the ball pure and long but it’s straight left sometimes, more times than not.
I just found this video and am looking forward to getting to the range to try out these ideas. My big problem is pushing the ball. Hope the ideas in the video will help.
We hope it helps too!
Very in depth thanks, I needed this!
Clay, thanks for the great content! Have been struggling a bit lately. Watched this video and went out today and had one of my best ball striking days in a while. Hit 12 of14 fairways with the driver, including all 7 on the back 9. Picked up a bit of distance as well. Sure was fun!
Great to hear!
This is enlightening! Thank you Clay!
My pleasure!
Clay, I would like to publicly give you 100% credit for taking me from a 9 to my current 4.3 index. Your videos make perfect sense and produce real results. Anybody would benefit from implementing your instruction, on all facets of the game: Driving, iron play, chipping/pitching and putting. Thank you very much!
Thanks Dan! Glad I could help. Keep up the great shooting!
@@TopSpeedGolf You have made golf so much more fun, by actually expecting good shots! Best wishes to you when one day you destroy the rest of the Champions tour!
Great video. I shoot in the high 70's on average 4 times a year; 4 of my 6 rounds after embracing this have been in the 70's!
Thanks! Keep up the good shooting.
your tips helped my driver swing alot
Next level insights! Thanks a lot, Clay!
My pleasure!
thanks Clay you are a great instructor.
I appreciate that!
A very good teacher.
breaking into the low 80's consistently and the pull is killing me - thank you again for the nice examples and instruction. Texas is a helluva commute to FLA. YT is good for something.
Glad to help!

Thanks Clay realy easy to follow, Brilliant. Small point, how tight do you grip the driver?
My pleasure! Check out this video for the answer to your question: ruclips.net/video/IHD6GLjpRJI/видео.html

The amount of videos coming out of the Clay Ballard camp right now!!!!!! 😳
💪
@@TopSpeedGolf Don't think that I don't notice all the old videos spliced together with some of the newer ones! From Titleist to PING haha. These are much longer videos, takes me a few days to get through them lol.
Love this, only wish I could get to the range n hit a few, I off to the garden to swing my clubs at least, damb corona virus !
Thanks!
Awesome teacher! thanksssssss
Hey Clay love the videos they’ve seriously helped my drive tremendously! Gained about 30 yards on my drive and cut like 90% of my slice out but I still have a little left to right action on my ball I can’t seem to get that draw down! Anyways keep em coming and thanks a lot
Nice work!
Thanks for the video, especially the sliding part. That's me haha
Glad you liked it!
great drills. Thanks.
Glad you like them!
For those who slide (me), does keeping the shoulder behind the imaginary line apply for every shot (driver-lob)? I’m guessing yes but wanted to make sure. Thanks Clay - Love your videos! Especially when you say “Nailed that one”. 😁
If you're trying to drive it in there really low then you may get yoru shoulder more forward but for most shots, it won't be.
On the backswing, your shoulder is pretty much level, which means no side tilt. Is that the way we should do?
There should be some tilt
Thank you Clay. You have so many secrets 😆. Do tell !
You bet!
Yes, he IS actually hitting +340! But, even if it was only 310, consistently, it would be superior length. But, Clay is a Big Boy and That Trackman don't lie.
I've been using the TSG Sytem for over two years and have built my new swing, with Clay and Q's help. Completely Quit playing, as a right-handed golfer with hand-me-down clubs, over 25 years ago. Began playing again 5 years ago and switched to LH. At first, I was only getting 180 yards on the drive. Now, At 70YO, I am regularly hitting 225Y, and all my buddies get quiet when I get up to the tee. Am placing the ball where I want it and moving right on up to +250 this year. Started at 110 strokes per 18. Broke 100 upon using the TSG Sytem and broke 90 last year. I'll be in the low 80's in 2021.
In 2020, for the first time in my life, I entered the City Championship.
Finished pretty much dead last. Haha ..!... It was actually fun. But, I guarantee I won't be last, this year!
I'm a FAN! and have introduced at least 50 golfers to TSG.
And, yes, Thanks again, Clay and Q !!!
Your kind words are appreciated. We're thrilled with your success. Keep up the good work!
Clay can you give us your video techniques on hitting the driver off the deck. Thanks
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/Qb1a-9uUctw/видео.html
Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard Thanks Clay! I’m 70,single Digit and have bought and seen a lot of instruction over the years from all the top teachers. YOU’RE THE BEST FOR MY SWING! Really enjoy your content.
Many amateurs like me find it hard to fade/draw the ball with stance/wrist action---Nicklaus etc. say other option is open or close clubface a little (with open/closed stance) before gripping.
Thanks for sharing!
Could you use impact stickers on your club face so we can see how hitting on different spots on the face dose different things to the ball flight. Thank you.
We don't have a video on this. Here is a great article on it: blog.trackmangolf.com/gear-effect-explained/
I appreciate you so damn much. Thank you for sharing
My pleasure!
Clay, thanks so much for these lessons. For the first time I was able to hit a draw. I’m athletic at 70 yrs. old and muscles take over and back to slice. Need more practice I guess. Here watching again.
Tom Young
Keep it up
Hi clay like all your teachings they all make sense.
Glad you think so!
GR8 Vid!!! Thx!
Thanks!
Can you use the same body motion with irons or fairway woods?
Yes!
hey clay um can you make a video or something that wil help me alig the way i want it to go because every time i aim towards the left it doesnt slice but it goes to the right btw were you a pga tour golfer before you did videos or are you a natrual?
We have a video on this: ruclips.net/video/CRSuR3owYns/видео.html
Does this hold true for iron shots as well?
What is VERY noticeable in this video is how RELAXED ur back is ... no compression in ur shoulders, not pushing chest forward... i imagine at ur setup u feel an absolute relaxation of ur whole body ... almost like ur on the edge of hunching ever so slightly. I only wish we could feel how relaxed u are ... no muscle effort in this ... setup and turn really. Danger in all these online lessons is the fact that a "student" will see what ur showing and it kinda looks like this is pressured control instead of actually crazy relaxed so it happens naturally in ur movements of turning the club back with ur body ... finish the swing and just turn back (putting it simple) .. as it truly is ;)
Thanks for sharing!
Do you.have UD with both wrist?
Can’t a person fade or draw by weakening or strengthening the grip as well? Thanks!
Yes, if that opens or closes the face to the path.
Can you make a video on someone that tends to hook? I used to have a slice, did a bunch of drills to fix it (because they are everywhere on the internet), and for a while, my drives were perfect. Then it got over exaggerated, and now I can't shake the hook.
Try this drill: ruclips.net/video/NtwzufY37jA/видео.html
@@TopSpeedGolf Thanks Clay! I'll give it a shot.
is this filming in a sudio? There is absolutely NO wind in the background... Anyway His Methods are spot on as I have been trying All he training for years..
One thing I tell myself before swing is "Loose Wrists" (soft grip)---essential to wrist cock & release. Another is align shoulders w/stance AND long enough backswing to let hips/legs work. Older players like me close back foot for backswing--keep head over ball.
Thanks for sharing!
is this the same for irons and hyrbids?
Yes
@@TopSpeedGolf thank you for the response! Subbed and alerts on! Been binge watching your videos!
Meet tmmrw thanks for This 😂
Good luck!!
Can you do a video about keeping the left arm straight?
We have one: ruclips.net/video/eAB-dk5nxxs/видео.html
That bro golf has us all messed up trying to slide to the left like that. When they say get over to your left they should also say you don't have to try to do this. it happens naturally with taught but smooth leg tension. The shoulder is following a radius around you so yes it should move away from that ball line immediately after the shoulders square up.
Thanks for sharing!
How long is your driver?
47"
the biggest problem i have is my eyeballs i'm right handed left eye dominant ! where should my eye be focused on..thanks
I would recommend focusing on the back of the ball where you're trying to hit.
super 👍
Thank you 👍
Clay you mention "dropping" down. Not sure this is the best way to reach the objective. Instead by squaring up the lead hip, there is automatically a drop in height whilst opening a clear path to the target AND A STRAIGHT HIT. The wrist and bowing - it seems I have a long week end of watching and practising ahead.

Thanks for the feedback. Play well!
you think Clay's youtube videos are good?
Wait till you get lessons from him in person.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! Play well!
Can't do that drive as I have "bone-on-bone "knees!
Sorry to hear about that. Best of luck!

Oh Clay. Love your golf and tennis videos. Please don't use any bowling analogies. you know not of what you speak :/
