Lyrics:
In the twilight glow I see them
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again
Love is like a dyin' ember
Only memories remain
Through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain

My dad took his own life when I was six. My Uncle, who was only 14, stepped up where no other man in my family did. He was there for me no matter what. He brought me out of my shell as a shy 15 yr old, he encouraged me to get to college and do the one thing I loved, bought me my first beer, took me to my first concert, got me my first job and took me on my first lads holiday.
My Uncle Craig loved his music and always dedicated this song to my Dad. He was the only person that ever talked about him fondly. Most don't even mention my Dad's name. Craig did.
He was a great man, with a huge heart and beautiful soul. He died two weeks ago quite suddenly and I am heartbroken.
But I would not be half the man I am today without Craig. I probably would be living a shit life without his love, protection and teachings. And here I am living a great life with my beautiful wife and daughters. I'm having a rough day today but the emotion and love in this song helps.
Until we meet up yonder.
Rest in Peace.
I’m sorry for your loss yet happy for your gain and I hope you find total happiness and peace in your life 🙏😇👍❤️
Feel for you man.
Makes me believe angels are real. I had my similar parallel experience...

Sang this song to my son as he was dying in my arms in the hospital. He had a big old smile on his face. But my blue eyes were a crying. My baby, my beautiful baby.
Wow I ca not imagine that pain. So sorry for your loss.
Just listened to this song again after a long time and saw your post. Even though it's two years later I am so sorry for your loss
Aww poor thing rip his legacy is proudly remembered
It sure is. ❤
God bless you, David. One day you will see your precious boy again.
My mum had the most beautiful blue eyes. I watched my parents sing and dance to willie my whole life. We played this song at my Mum's funeral . My beautiful Dad sobbed with heartbreak. Four months later he passed away. I take comfort in knowing they " are strolling hand in hand again " . Thank you Willlie xx

Your parents sound beautiful.
I bet for a man, we'd all go back and spend more time w/ mom. But I'm sure no amount of effort or time would be enough. Unconditional love changes you. It leaves us all feeling like we wish we did more and I think that's beautiful.

Willie is a national treasure and his legacy will never end
Right up there with Jimmie Rodgers, Bob Wills, Hank Williams. How many people identified with just one name? Willie is.

What are some of your favorite song by Willie?
I choked though this song beside my mother when she was dying at hospice, it was one of her favorites. God in miss her, I love you momma. 6/2/47 12/27/23
This song is so emotional.
I lost my dad to cancer and this song was his favorite. I miss him so much.
What's your favorite song by Willie Nelson?
This was the song that made me a huge Willie Nelson fan, way back when I was a young teenager. Red Headed stranger , a great album.
It was for me too, I listen to it with my Dad and we would sing along. I miss him so much.
Where are you from Roger?
I'm listening to Willie. Thinking about pops, 13 years since he's been gone on the 24th.and people say if you are black, you don't do country. Hell I was raised on it
More type of music we need today
Those people haven’t been paying attention, have they? Check out the great Louis Armstrong!
That’s not true. I always liked Charlie Pride. And Chapel Hart is getting more famous every day. Of course, there are others.
Lost my sister today, a kind gentle soul. That's why I'm here tonight, to ease the pain.
❤
Ohhhh a sister’s love! 😢 May her love live within you forever and yonder!
sorry😢
bless you

Grew up Country, Mom played this on guitar, and sang it to Dad, who had my blue eyes, too!
This was my Dad’s favorite song, it was played at his funeral. My love for country music comes from him, I miss him every day. My dad played guitar and sang in a band, I appreciate music because of him.
My Son’s alway’s fall back to Country Music, too! ❤️
Arguably, his best song... I've heard other versions by the best in country music but none more real and touching as this is...
This version has Trigger.
I discovered this beautiful song through its cover by Alain Bashung, a famous French singer. Have a go at that one, it moves to tears each and every time... love the slide guitar in it.
i would argue not his best song but a awesome one though
There's only one best Willie Nelson song the one you're listening to at the time you're listening to it
I grew up listening to my Mama & Daddy sing this song & I'd sing along. He went to heaven in 2006 & my beautiful little Mama joined him in August 2021. My heart is broken but I know they are praising Jesus & reuniting with each other & our loved ones.
I look forward to seeing them again & Jesus! 🙏🏻✝️🕯️🕯️

Listened to his song as soon as I heard my dad died. One of my sweetest memories is my father singing his song when I was a child, telling me about how beautiful it is... And it really is an amazing song, forever with a place in my memory and my heart.
Me to. My fondest memories are of my parents both singing these timeless songs to us while we were all together doing our chores, driving... My heart longs for them and those moments again.
My grandfather used to sing mamas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys. I constantly think about him and that song.
I used to rock my two daughters to sleep while singing this song.....they loved it. Mom and Dad introduced me to Waylon and Willie in the 70s.
Sorry for your loss.
One of the best songs ever written, & I've never heard anyone top Willie's version.
My alcoholic dad threw me out in rural Mississippi back in '78 & there was a local Lyric Theater that I found work at. I would clean it up after the movies were over. My boss would have a tape of Willie Nelson playing as I worked & this song was on it. I loved it the first time I heard it. Now, I listen to it & see myself sleeping in the film booth on a pallet on the floor of that place. Cold, hungry, but free from abuse. I got to see the newest movies, had shelter at night & discovered the music I would cherish & listen to for the rest of my life. I'm 60 & just listened to it for the millionth time.
Elvis did
Elvis has a haunted sound I mean it sounded LIKE ELVIS WAS SINGING IT FROM THE GRAVE.

My daughter loved his singing. May she R.I.P. Miss you oh so very much. Love you with all my heart!!

Hi I'm here
So simple and so perfect. There will never be another Willie.
Hello dear how are you doing hope you’re doing fine?
Fred Rose wrote this song. Willie did a good cover of it.
I just don't get it how can all our music fade I thought my son all this and I'm still the only one listening
There's only one Willie Nelson
🎼🎵🎵
This is my favourite version of this song for two reasons. Willie's heartfelt singing and that unique, strident yet soulful notes he produces from Trigger which is such a big part of Willie's music.
My Mom loved this song. She just passed away on October 17, 2023 she had previously requested Blue eyes crying in the rain, to be played at her funeral, as it was played. 💔
🤍
No matter you're mood this man can just make everything feel amazing

So true
So much emotion in his version of this song.
An all time hero for so many people. He puts his money where is heart is.

A shout out to all the grandparents out there that guaranteed this song live on through us younger folk. This is and will always be a timeless song, one that i will burn into the brains of my grandchildren as my grampa did unto me.........a song of epic proportions.
This song is burned into my soul. Unfortunately theres no way I can ever rock blue eyes but I can still rock the song.
In my humble opinion, our music was the best and still can’t be beat hands down. It seems every week we are loosing our band members, song writers and musicians. Thank you for years of beautiful music 👏
Not my Grandparents but my Awesome old dad a proper cockney London Boy with the heart of an old cowboy!!
Heard it during work. Couldn't help but cry. Reminded me of Mom2 ,Joan. The minute she saw my family's stupid way of treating me . Right there she declared herself my Mom2. R.I.P Mom2!!! Miss you, love you. Until we meet again. ❤

Agreed!
Timeless song by a living legend, and America's favorite outlaw..
My first husband was an Iranian Jew. He was the only Persian of Azerbaijani ethnicity I ever met who could hang out in Texas kicker bars in the 70's and 80's due to "the hostage crisis" caused by Ayatollah Khomeini.
Andrew would sing this song to my Mom in her Austin, Texas kitchen. He loved her chili, her cooking in general. Andrew loved my mother so much she became his Mom in America. From this, he persuaded her to give me to him in arranged, Jewish marriage.
This man had a unique, healing effect on my family, both collectively and each member individually. Each and every one of us loved him with a devoted level of admiration. He and several members of his family had worked for Shah and Shabanu up until time of exile to United States. Andy loved America and God with his entire being.
He used to tell us things in combination with the western music he loved to sing with his thick, Persian accent. Some of it sounded as if he was giving us faith instructions before some kind of mysterious departure.
His version of this song sounded like, "Blue eyes eh-cryeen' in dee rhain..." This made my momma laugh and laugh.
Andy died a martyr in DeKalb, Georgia in February of 1995. Much like things he alluded to when talking to us. It was as if he had been trying to prepare us all along...
We never got over his passing. None of us. His love and his music was a treasure to me and my entire family. Willie Nelson gave the world a small piece of art with this song.
Willie Nelson is the best cowboy for ever. He is my favourite singer.
wonderful

This was the last song my Mom and I sang together on her dying bed. We sang it note for note and I imagine she used all her energy to sing along with me. The tears were streaming from my eyes as we finished the song and we both said, "I love you" when I had to leave for the day. That was the last time I heard my Mom's voice... as she passed away from complications from Alzheimer's the following day. I had just lost my Dad two years before that to a very aggressive Metastatic Sarcoma Cancer of the arm. The Mayo Clinic doctors said my Mom passed from Alzheimer's, but I know that since my Mom & Dad were High School Sweethearts and had been married 63 years before we lost my Dad... that she died of a broken heart. I write this as today would have been my Mom's 84th Birthday... the first Birthday I must spend without her. And all day today, my blue eyes will be crying in the rain... 😢
This is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your pain, and also the love.
So much love to you sir, I aspire to this as a man in a age where this doesn’t exist

Willie is the Man! How he sings it, is just incredible! Especially in conjunction with the movie clip...wow! Just plays on the heartstrings. And Morgan Fairchild is always smokin' hot. This song is so impacting, and has been delivered so well by several of the greatest. There's a reason why Willie is the Man and Elvis is the King, but if y'all ever get a chance to listen to the late Eva Cassidy sing this... there's a reason why she's The Angel! Have some tissue handy.😉

I was down at my Mom's talking to her and it was like 2 days after he died and I got in my truck to go back home bawling my eyes out and as soon as I got in and turned the radio on the verse "Some day when we meet up younder" come on like he was telling me I'd see him again one day. Still gives me goose bumps to listen to this song! I love you, Dad.

VeronicaLynn Oliver listening with my pops right now, he's drunk and won't stop requesting songs lol
J wheezy glad you have your Dad too bad he drinks. My Dad never drank. So many children are raised around drunks they think its the normal thing to do. I never was around drunks so guess thats why i dont drink. Very seldom i might have one but i don't care to drink. My x was an alcoholic n i seen what alcohol/drugs does to a person and i couldn't handle that. God bless you.
