Thanks! This brought me back to september 2006. Got a White DS Lite for my 13th birthday. My first reaction was that the console seemed so LUXUOUS compared to my old GBA SP. I was almost shaking from excitment.
I remember my 7th birthday, 2007. We were about to move cross country, so for my birthday my parents got me a white DS Lite. That same day, my dad took me to this little old game shop and I bought my first copy of pokemon emerald, and Pokemon Diamond. I still have my original copy of Diamond, and I hold it dearly.
this really is a top tier console. Smaller than the original DS, but STILL plays GBA carts. Truly peak handheld design. Only thing I was never thrilled about with it was the glossy casing that attracts smudges too easily, but that's a personal thing as a guy with some sweaty ass hands
The DS Lite being able to play GBA games is a huge factor, but personally I love the original DSi, it looked & felt so premium & nice, the screens were much larger & brighter, the buttons felt nicer, it has a volume rocker instead of a slider, and a power switch instead of a slider
@@justadummy8076 honestly I always forget about the DSi, I think because I never had one when I was a teenager, I went right from the DS Lite to the 2DS years later, and neither of my sisters had one either. Would love to get my hands on one though, I think they made an XL version even. They made so many good permutations of the DS, awesome console
@@justadummy8076 I agree, I'm new to collecting DS Lites and DSi consoles, but the DSi is the perfect form factor, matte finish, bigger, better brighter screens and more ram and faster cpu, but I still have to say the DS Lite is the best of all time because it'll play the entire GBA library. That's unbeatable.
@enthused7591 I still have my 2009 Black Friday metallic blue DSi and have played it occasionally since I got it as a kid. The RB bumpers don't like to work and I replaced it's battery when it started bulging a year ago but it's still going strong.
I got a red one sealed 10 years ago. I wanna give it to my brother in the long future. He broke his red one as a kid, and giving it to him later will be something special.
i love the ds lite, i restored the one from my childhood just recently with a new shell (avoid the cheap ones if anyone is doing that) and its kinda insane how much value you can get out one of those, especially with two flashcards in slot 1 and 2 i wouldnt recommand doing a reshell to beginners since its kinda tricky but its doable if youre okay with trying a few time
the firered gba cartridge was the first pokemon i ever got and when you started it up with the gba screen and sound i got legit teleported back in time like that critic in rattatoulli❤
A beautiful console. Thanks for sharing this, I unboxed the Zelda gold a few years ago sealed (lots of critics of course haha) but there's nothing quite like touching the DS Lite and cutting the seal open. DS Lite FTW!
This was a really great video! I even have a black Nintendo Light & 3DS XL, one of the main reasons why I love the DS light is because I love game boy advance games, and I will continue to play that handheld in 2024 going into 2025. Seeing those Pokemon games was great as well! I have Pokemon soul silver, Sapphire, moon, black, black 2, X and Diamond all for the same handheld DS Light! Good review as well! enjoy watching.
this is one of my favorite till this day. i will never forget when my mom got me this exact model for my birthday at the pawn shop. Nintendo has a special place in my heart
Super cool. I was way behind the curve in terms of learning about the DS. Grew up with Gameboy Color and Advance. When I learned the DS Lite had a GBA reader, I went on Ebay last year and could NOT believe nice condition DS Lites were still $35-$40 each and I grabbed a dozen of them, including about 7 complete in box for around $80 each. There's no chance they stay cheap for much longer. We're super lucky they're still this affordable. To be able to play the entire massive GBA and DS libraries on that nicer, better screens of the DS Lite compared to the regular DS, I honestly may pick up a few more before there's a massive run up on these things.
Damn i remember going to buy a red ds lite when i broke my other one in 2009/2010. I also picked up pokemon white version with that. Greatest feeling ever!
This was a nice video to watch. I have never seen that first language select menu! That menu does not appear when you remove/replace the battery or firmware!
I remember falling over from excitement when i opened my silver ds lite on my 8th birthday(I think). I got pokemon diamond and mario 64ds. Its my favorite handheld console of all time.
I still have and occasionally play my crimson red DS Lite when I was 12, wish I still kept the box. (I never had physical DS games because it was bundled with an R4 kart lol)
I remember as a kid getting one of these in an easter basket from my mom and I would play pokemon black 2 at home while recovering from a sprained ankle when i was supposed to be af school but playing on it was so much fun
I currently am looking around for a ds lite thats either custom/refurbed or just sealed try and get anything custom for it maybe, not sure. Thanks for the awesome video!
God this takes me right back to 2006 as i also got a black DS lite. I remember getting mine at Costco and rushing to get it set up when we came home at night. Played a lot of New Super Mario Bros
@@B_e_D_e_O_X very good call man. I bought HeartGold when I was in high school and sold it a few years after that, biggest mistake of my life. I've tried to buy it since and got hit with a counterfeit cart :(
The nostalgia I got from this was a feeling I haven't felt in a while. Just all the time spent grinding Pokemon Diamond, Ben10, creating crazy things in Scribblenauts, Gameboy version of YuGiOh. My DS had my back during my childhood🤧. Thanks for the video!
on the home screen where it says ‘touch to start’ you press up+select+B together at the same time then u will have the option to reset the save files or not it works with every pokemon game on the ds
You might want to replace the DS battery ASAP. Old batteries can explode and potentially destroy the console. It's been incredibly random for me, I've bought sealed consoles myself and had it be fine for the foreseeable future, but I had a sealed PSP in storage and upon unboxing it, the battery had blown open the back of the console and the inside was damaged, had to get it repaired.

got mine on my 7th birthday in 2008 from a radio shack that used to be in the mall. I wore the ds to the ground but still have my copy of soulsilver which I hope never to part with
